One thing I still have problems wrapping my head around, is that you guys are making this happen on a learning-by-doing basis. Even with all the support you're getting, this is wickedly courageous, specially considering that this boat will be used for expiditions to remote places, rather than just A to B tripping. And when this is done, you can call yourselves boatbuilders. Thats Ssssmoking 😎 !!!
I am really looking forward to seeing the stuff built in, right now I can't even imagine it at all anything fitting into those small spaces, much less a washer or a shower! Boots are magical.
She looks fantastic, all three must be thrilled to have this build go relatively smooth. We are all so very thankful and Happy for your success. Beautifully work!
Don't know about u or delos but I'm nervous for them the new home is so big compared to sweet delos, can't wait for the new adventures though, but gezz she a big one a
Hey you two, I would install pipes in the tanks to purify the diesel oil if it's contaminated. Install 2 pieces of 1/2" pipe where you can attach a pump and filter the oil for water and dirt. Fantastic project 😊
@@planet9379 no worries, it's a good suggestion! Just was providing more info. Especially good to have if you're buying fuel from sketchy sources in various places around the globe that may have varying degrees of quality control
Thanks for the tour, it is not just a boat what you build, it is an entire home, but still with a concept of a tiny home and build very well, for lasting a lifetime, with the advantages to be where ever you want and the ocean and the world will be the property for your family, you guys rock you know what you want and on top you give us as your followers good entertainment and you pass on a lot of valuable knowledge, keep on going, hello from the Chilcotin Sunrise Chalet
Wow, it's going to be a lot of living area. And your owners side is going to be huge. No lacking of space. It's going to be exciting following the build. Until next video cheers
Nice seeing you guys putting in the time with the build. Putting in the blood, sweat, and hopefully no tears. Not only does the name of the boat builder gives one confidence with the addition of hands-on experience that makes it invaluable. This building chapter is enjoying to watch. The only problem is it hurts my brain quickly converting to SAE and I'm an aluminum TIG guy.
Sssooo Exciting!! I can sleep anywhere you have a nook or cranny! I'll be one of your most valuable crew one day! Take care there. Much love and blessings to Ya'all and your channel/ efforts. 🌞⛵🌴
It just hit me after following you guys for years (on my other account). Geez, the level of things I have learn from the two of you is amazing. I almost feel like I am going to owe you for the rest of my life (20 more years if I am lucky) 😃
It is going to be very interesting watching the build from the frame up. Hopefully we continue to see the details. Usually you just see the end results of these builds. The engineering that went into the structure is very nice to see. I'm surprised that the interior fit out doesn't start before welding the top out. You have so much easy access in the hulls but I suppose it avoids damage.
Hi Brian and Family, Wondering when this was filmed? Boats really coming along. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying this building series! Looks amazing. Cannot wait to see it in the water.
Was just curious how long (How many years) can one expect the food safe coating barrier, inside the water storage tank, to last. It's great to be on site during the build process as another set of eyes for potential design issues that may be subject for change at the present point in the build. It is very exciting to see this project finally taking shape. So happy for Delos.
Brian I noticed you mentioned that the fuel return line does not need to be submerged. I have had problems with air in the fuel system when the return line in not submerged fully in the tank. If the overflow valve allows some bypass while while sitting, the fuel can drain back to the tank drawing air in via the unsubmerged return line, requiring lift pump priming before the next start. Just my experience. Amazing project!!!!
You could put the sender anywhere and adjust it. However you do what the fuel pickup in the lowest location. Or have 2 pickups and a manual switch. What an awesome adventure.
You guys are in a good place for research. Wayne, of Sailing Mangrove Charlie, is on the East Coast of Australia. He is a designer and builder. He has wings on his rudders and inside of his boat bows that cause his boat to surf. Sailing Jupiter has bamboo lattices on his cabinets that let his cabinets breathe while away from the boat. Wayne knows where to buy Marine bamboo plywood and boards. One cubic foot of aluminum weighs 166 lbs and rips apart at 4,320,000 pounds but the same cubic foot of bamboo rips apart at 4,032,000 pounds of tension and only weighs 20 pounds. Talk to Wayne if you can.
Nah Brian on my previous cat I got pinholes in my diesel tanks which were raw aluminium. This was after 10 years but a real pain in the butt. I believe it’s from water entering the tanks as the pinholes were in a deep pocket section of the tanks. Also look at the wynns old leopard it was the same problem. Coat the internals with 2 part epoxy
What is this xmas?! A delos video release in the middle of my work week? Fantastic! Thanks so much Delos Crew for showing us around the boat now that it's not capsized. 😂 I agree with you all that right-side up allows better visualization of the spaces. It's a huge boat! You compensating for something Brian? 😉🤣🤣
Good daddy! Mommy wanted a "bigger house in the Hamptons", and you made her one! What a beautiful design! As a welder, I totally agree with this construction. lol!
Look into the corrosion issues with Aluminium tanks on other boats, the diesel has some water in it and tanks end up with pin holes. I would recommend plastic tanks within the cavity for both water and fuel.
I noted you used the "A" word, access. As a retired marine electrician of almost 30 years, and involved in the building of many custom yachts, I had to remind other crafts especially Carpenters of the need for access!
As a former shipyard worker that has fallen from unsecured ladders, please tie off that ladder. Falling really sucks! Great run down of the interior. Where will she get parked when you start the fit out?
I never took a proper vice with us cruising in our grp boat because I never really felt like I could mount it reliably so aluminium is a great material for things like that.
One day soon you guys are going to be back on the open water, and this time in your life will be over. Enjoy the memories your making, making your boat!
You've already proven you have more knowledge and taste than SLV. I'm sure your no nonsense approach will continue. Brian, your American.🇺🇸 What's up with Metric measurements instead of USCS? I would love your input. Thanks for sharing Delos II.
