This is basically what I've been looking for. Dollar for dollar this is a pretty good deal too. I think it's about the same price as the old Mobula7 HD but you get and HDzero cam and VTX. Very pleased with this whole package.

Thanks for the review. Can you please confirm the size of the battery holder? On getfpv they say it is 16x13.5mm but that doesn't sound right because every 3s lipo they recommend is bigger than that.
@ATXAirborne
@ATXAirborne 2 года назад
The battery tray is about 17.5mm wide. I can't quite measure the vertical dimension accurately in the frame. However, a battery that is 16.9mm x 12mm fits (and is almost a bit loose) while a battery that is 17.3mm x 14mm is a very tight fit. I believe it's the 14mm that is a problem. I believe the recommended 3s batteries are 330mah, which are basically 3x the little 1s 330mah whoop batteries. That size should definitely fit. I'd also check out Nick Burns' review, linked in the description. He has a segment where he shows different sized batteries that fit in this whoop.

Quick questions as we are just getting into FPV and wide picked this up for me. Have tx16s controller but no goggles or transmitter. Looking to go all in with Oled goggles like the shark HDO2 and using a happy es24tx pro for my controller. Question comes what module do I need to receive best video from goggles? Is everything else comparable. Will end up moving up later to larger style for cinematic and freestyle.
@ATXAirborne
@ATXAirborne 2 года назад
This is a great way to get started, I'm jealous of you starting with HDZero rather than analog :) For the goggles, OLED is going to be the best image quality. I'd strongly recommend the Skyzone Sky04X over the HDO2. They're really just better goggles at this point. You can find them here: bit.ly/3pleGeG To receive the HDZero signal with any goggles, you'll need the Shark Byte receiver module, which is this: bit.ly/3EtfN2B These are actually a little hard to find right now, I think RotorLogic may still have them in stock, but otherwise we're waiting on those to restock at the moment. Let me give you one other option. If you think you're wanting to stick with HDZero and not use analog, you could consider getting the Scout HD right now, which is a dedicated box goggle at a very low price point, and then getting the just-announced HDZero goggles when they release later this year. The HDZero goggles are in the design/prototype stage so we can't say for sure how they will be, but they sound like they could be excellent. if you wanted to go that route, the Scout HD image is definitely not as good as OLED, but it'd get you going for $250 (+ antennas) which is much cheaper than OLED+receiver. Just another option. The Scout HD is here: bit.ly/34d7Hxy I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions about getting started!

Bump down to 250ghz? Is this referring to packet rate or to tx power? 🤔 so at 500 it will have problems?
@ATXAirborne
@ATXAirborne 2 года назад
That’s packet rate. ELRS has had issues on the SPI receivers built into flight controllers when running at 500hz. I think it might be a bit better now and they are still working on it. It’s worth trying at 500hz, but if you encounter any strange issues, I’d try 250hz.

What antennae do I need on the HDZero receiver for this? I have V3 dominator goggles, HDZero receiver (on order). Unsure what antennae I need to buy to add to my goggles and/or receiver for video to work from drone VTX to my HDZero receiver.
@ATXAirborne
@ATXAirborne 2 года назад
You can use any 5.8ghz antennas. I recommend RHCP. If you mostly fly close to yourself (inside a house, a small outdoor area, etc) you could use 4 omni antennas. If you like to fly father away, you could use 2 omnis and 2 patches. For omni antennas I like Xilo, TrueRC, Foxeer, and Lumenier. For patches, I like TrueRC.
@b3owu1f
@b3owu1f 2 года назад
@@ATXAirborne Ah ok. I saw the Lumenier stubby ones.. but it had the DJI words in it.. so made me think it's only for DJI. Wasn't quite clear if they work that way in this tech or not. I was confused also by the RHCP and LHCP. I thought maybe RH.. is two on the right side of the goggles.. and then LHCP is for two on the left side of goggles? I would ideally like the best possible for all 4 slots.. so that I can have further range and hopefully less breakup. What might be the best you can get for less breakup over say a couple 100 yards or so?
@ATXAirborne
@ATXAirborne 2 года назад
@@b3owu1f Yes, if you see DJI on the antennas, be careful because DJI is almost always LHCP. You want all of the antennas to match, so all 4 of the antennas on the receiver should be either RHCP or LHCP, and if the drone has a polarized antenna, it should match too. For HDZero you can use either, but safe bet is to use RHCP antennas everywhere. This Mobula7 HDZero has a dipole, or linear, antenna, so it doesn't have a polarization and will be compatible with either. Within a few hundred yards, my recommendation would be 2 patches and 2 omnis. TrueRC recently came out with a set of patches that slide onto the rails on the VRX, which is a nice clean setup. I recently released a video on that, you can find it on the channel. A slightly cheaper option would be to get two of the single TrueRC X-Air patches and use them. Just make sure to get RHCP. For the omnis, non-stubby will give you better range since the antenna is higher up. I've been using the TrueRC OCP omnis lately, and they're a good and affordable option. You could get those or any of the other omnis I mentioned previously.
@b3owu1f
@b3owu1f 2 года назад
@@ATXAirborne Just ordered two of the RHCP TrueRC Singularity for the drones (hope those work on the HDZero 1 watt unit). I would rather spend a little more if needed to have better video at the goggles than go cheap. :)

Noob question: Do I need antennas on my Scout HD Goggles to fly this? I've never used goggles before, and I want to make sure I've got everything I need!
@ATXAirborne
@ATXAirborne 2 года назад
Yes, you'll want to put an antenna on each of the SMA connectors on top of the Scout HD. Most people recommend omni antennas, which are good if you fly in all directions, including behind where you are standing. Here are two different options you might look at: Lumenier AXII (not cheap, but one of the best antennas you could get. This listing has both antennas): www.getfpv.com/lumenier-axii-2-5-8ghz-antenna-rhcp-2-pcs.html?cmid=eHZ3Y2tBWGYrQWM9&afid=WUx1YXV3SzhueFU9&ats=ZTM3dmVRQ2E0ODQ9 Stubby omni antenna (A Foxeer lollipop also would work. This is a single antenna so make sure you buy 2): www.getfpv.com/xilo-axii-stubby-sma-5-8ghz-antenna-rhcp.html?cmid=eHZ3Y2tBWGYrQWM9&afid=WUx1YXV3SzhueFU9&ats=ZTM3dmVRQ2E0ODQ9 Hope it helps! You're going to have a fun time if this is your first experience with FPV :)
@nodidog
@nodidog 2 года назад
@@ATXAirborne Thanks so much for this! These are actually the ones I was looking at, but I wasn't sure the quad was 'RHCP' - couldn't seem to find out anywhere (or if I even needed antennas at all). It is my first time with FPV - I've been blasting my old mobula6 around the house line-of-sight, but can't wait to get started 🥳
@ATXAirborne
@ATXAirborne 2 года назад
@@nodidog Yes, you should use RHCP with HDZero. The Scout HD does have two antennas built in and they are RHCP. But you want to add the 2 additional antennas for a total of 4 antennas. That will give you the best possible signal.
