Thanks for this reveiw. These older ships, late 19th, early twentieth century are some of the most fascinating subjects that have never been produced in plastic kit form.Nice to see that the Danton class has been done, despite the kits drawbacks. I think they referred to in their time as " semi-dreadnoughts" because of their intermediate calibre secondary guns, much like the British " Lord Nelson" class. Thanks again.
Looks like a fun weekend build, let your youngest choose the colour scheme 😉 Trumpeter Group do knock out a hell of a lot ships, so not surprised it's been overlooked for aftermarket. Hobby Boss are very good value for what you get in the kit - I've got their 1/48th Scale T-34 - 85 Tank, it's got a highly detailed interior (whether it's accurate IDK) & photo-etch and I picked up for less than £16 (Dave Coley's Emporium).
Hello Jason, really nice review. I really like the look of this ship. After watching this I did a little research. I am sure you have too. Very interesting life for a pre-dreadnought ship. See you next time.
Hi Jeff if you look on RU-vid for a video called when hotels go to war you'll see a nice documentary about French pre-dreadnoughts which ends with the Danton class thanks for watching take care
@@ModelkitStuff I took a look at the video you recommended. Very informative, I learned a lot. I have been subscribed to that channel for a little while, but never noticed this video. Thanks Again!
From what I remember, the turn of the 20th century French navy had two colour schemes. One for the Atlantic/Channel fleet and one for their Mediterranean fleet, which were different (I think the med used white or a very light grey based colour). Russian designs around this time were either designed in France or based on French designs, so you may be able to find part of the photo etch for Zvedza's Russian pre-dreadnoughts to repurpose.
Hi Nick many thanks for the very interesting information that's a good idea regarding other kits and what photo which is out there I may take a look cheers for looking in👍🏻
