Welcome to Sydney. One thing I suggest is catching the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly. Manly is a nice area, but the trip through the Harbor is worth the effort by itself.
Great clip. A very minor correction from a transport nerd. The trains you are using are not strictly a Metro, they are 'Sydney Trains' which is a suburban (or Americans might call it a 'regional' rail system). As you've been in France, it's like the Paris RER rather than the Paris Metro. Sydney is developing a metro system, one line is already open with more under construction. Easy to tell the difference, 'Sydney Trains' are always double deck, have drivers, and a grey and yellow/orange colour scheme. 'Sydney Metro' is always single deck and are driverless/automated, with a blue toned colour scheme. The Trains, Metro, light rail, buses and ferries all use the Opal card or credit card tap on payment system, regardless of whether they are government or privately operated. Enjoy the place.
Us locals do visit the opera house often - to see plays, concerts, speakers etc. We usually also go to the Opera Bar for a pre-show drink. Not just a touristy place 😁😁😁
I emigrated to Sydney from England in the first few days of 1970 and worked in the city over the following nine years. I loved it. The Opera House was still under construction (I'd never heard of it). The tallest building was Australia Square Tower now dwarfed by just about every other building. You could buy a 'Schooner' (15 floz) of beer for 18c. It took me some time to get use to the idea that Australians called 'pubs' "hotels". I realise there's the inevitable changes, but I preferred the old Sydney. Hope you enjoy the rest of your visit to Australia.
Sydney is a place that is only good if you have an exceptionally good income and you own your own property, otherwise it is struggle street for the working poor, there are far better places to live in Australia and there is no need to live there , the lastime I lived there was to be a site foreman for a stainless installation firm from Brisbane , you cannot drive anywhere on the weekends as all you will be doing is spending hours in traffic jams ifyou can afford the fuel after rent .
For any Ship enthusiasts at 5:14 that's a Canberra class carrier which is based on the Spanish Juan Carlos I. I highly recommend checking out the NSW art Gallery while here it's like 80% free with a rotation of small exhibits you can pay to see if you really like. You can walk though the botanical gardens on the same day because the gallery is right behind them.
Hey mate check out the Blue Mountains while you are here. One of the most beautiful parts of Sydney that most people don't visit. You can take the train up!
We loved Sydney!! It’s fun to see we went to almost all the same places, except ours won’t come out for another couple months since we’re still catching up with our Asia series 😅 but awesome video! Can’t wait to see more ❤
what a nice and lovely couple, thank you for visiting us. just hope you meet some nice people and enjoy your visit. may sunshine follow you, its cold and miserable in Melbourne
I guess you really can't say you've been to Australia if you haven't took a snap of yourself with the Sydney Opera House as your background haha I took a few video snippets too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2wox8ORbfL4.html
G'day! A bit of trivia - at 5:36 you show the lights on the bridge. These are new LED fittings that were re-cast from an original light when the bridge was built. They had been replaced years old by ugly "modern" fittings. An original was found in storage and most have been replaced now. Looks great
Relatively clean ? I bet you its the cleanest city youve ever been my last trip to America included San Francisco and Los Angeles and you couldn't move in some areas for the garbage and the homeless (sorry the unhoused) . Still I did enjoy myself the people I had dealings with were courteous , freindly and helpful , I would expect that you guys were treated equally by my fellow Australians .
The walk over the arch of the Harbour Bridge is very expensive. Much cheaper is to go to the top of the south-east pylon, and to be honest, the view from there is pretty much that from the top of the arch. Then you can walk across at road level for coffee at the little village around the foot of the north-east pylon. From there you can catch the train back, or a quick ferry trip. Lots of people swear by going to Bondi Beach. We'd suggest catching the ferry to Manly, a beach we prefer, instead. Great views of the harbour-side suburbs as you travel are a bonus.
I’ve been spending a lot of time in Sydney for work over the last year and love it. I think you were staying near the hotel I stay at (above Wynyard Station), it’s great being able to walk out of the hotel directly into the train station or it’s a quick walk almost anywhere.
It seems to me that the Sydney Opera House does not exist. There are few videos with him in the world. Please make more walks videos of the Sydney Opera House
Dont spend too much of your Aussie holiday in Sydney. Sydney is hardly Australia the people and scenery. Australia has a nice laid back life (not sydney) and has extremely friendly people (not sydney)
