I typed in the Lear 60 in 1993. No sim so all our training was in the airplane. We loved the performance. My company had 7 over the years before we transitioned to Gulfstreams. Closest the corporate world had to a fighter. Wished Bombardier had improved the wing,so high altitude performance would have been better.
@BaronPilot

The wing and a trail link gear would have made it a pilot’s favorite for sure!

Glad to see you made a call to Conroe Regional (KCXO) as I fly out of there regularly as well as DW Hooks (KDWH). FYI, Conroe isn't exactly "Houston". Despite the name, the airport is in an entirely different county and is 50 miles north of downtown Houston. Saying you've landing in Houston is like landing in Delray Beach and saying you've landed in Miami. Thanks and enjoy the content as always.

Cool to see IOE done for Pt 91/135 operators. Much needed and so valuable!
@DanSHJ45
@DanSHJ45 Год назад
Honestly it just made me so glad I work for a large airline. The 91/135 world still has so many practices from decades ago that airlines have long ago discarded. We talk SO MUCH less than that, and my company still briefs and talks way too much IMHO.
@Jackfrost751
@Jackfrost751 Год назад
@@DanSHJ45agreed. I was watching this and thinking how disorganized this all seemed. Also the level of polished product coming off of airline training is quite superior to the 91/135 world. No hate just different.
@BaronPilot
@BaronPilot Год назад
It’s not so much 121 vs 91/135 as much as it is pilots coming from different training. On a 91 flight I can not assume that he is going to do things the way I expect. Especially being brand new. I don’t know how he was trained. Two people in the same training class can be using two different op specs if they are training for different companies. So they can come out of the same class with different SOPs. At your large airline, you know exactly how the guy next to you was trained and what he is expected to do.
@Micg51
@Micg51 Год назад
@@DanSHJ45 same. The callouts for airspeeds on takeoff were over the top. Check or set thrust, 80, V1, Vr is all that is needed. I like at an airline that we don’t say much but we both always know what each other’s thinking is.

I fly the Collins Proline 4 in the Beechjet (Hawker 400XP), but I can tell there are a few things that are different in the software for you. Your overspeed is always showing those large red fence markings. Ours only does that once you overspeed. And your vertical speed command appears in the top-left, ours shows in the bottom right by the vertical speed gauge. There's a few other weird things I've seen that are different. Must have been amazing technology when it came out in the 1980s! Haha. It's not as good as the newest tech but it punches above it's weight

@@BaronPilot Well I guess that's because she has kinda somehow dark reputation. But that's mostly result of bad handling! (the most notorious accident I heard of was that of the Brazilian rock band "mamonas assassinas"). As I see it, that's a jet that is quite a handful to fly, and as many others you must always be (at least) one step ahead (as visibly you obviously are). Being born (almost) from a fighter it's no surprise.

It has been decades since I've flown (passenger, right seat briefly, and jump seat on a low ILS) in a Learjet. Around 1990-ish. Lear 25. I love the takeoff performance but I'd get behind the aircraft so fast it's not funny. I see why there are two pilots. I slowed my instrument flying down so I could study and pass my test. I passed but it was no walk in the park lol. I'll get back in the air and start prepping for my checkride early next year. My CFII is taking some much deserved time off. I'm close. Oh so close... It's not an easy rating but it's very satisfying. I don't find flying under the hood to be difficult. Procedures, holds, all that is manageable until something different happens. That's when things start to get stressful. I love ever second of it lol

Technically. Screen is flashing (refreshing) but we can’t see it, too fast for our eyes, not for the camera. It’s detectable because of the difference between camera and screen refresh rates. Supposedly if you put a sunglasses lens over the camera, it will stop it. Never tried it though.
