I started up my dads old M100d last year. Had to replace the igniter/spark plug. It had sit in the barn for over 15 years and was dirty. Cranked right up. I checked the serial number and it is a 96 model with 90K BTU's of heating capacity. These believe these units were made by DESO. Pretty simple devices that heats up my workshop in no time. Yesterday I was out in the garage. It was 40 degrees and raining outside. A toasty 75 degrees in the shop. My garage/shop is 45x20 with 12 foot high doors and no insulation. Roof height is 14 feet at the top. My father used this garage to keep his motor home in. It is a metal building with a concrete floor and zero insulation. Needless to say I love the heater.
I have a 250,000 BTU Reddy heater. It wasn't used in over 25 years and a full tank of Kerosene remained. It fired up immediately and I never had a problem with it. I'm still using the same tank full. I'm glad it was full because I must of paid about 1/3 less for the fuel when I bought it.
We have one of these in our shop and we run straight diesel in it and it works fine. Alternatively you could run 1 of gallon of gasoline and 4 gallons of diesel, I think 5 gallons is about what what ours holds ... haven't tried it but old videos seem to say it's possible.
You should drain the fuel out (there should be a removable plug on the bottom) and put some clean fuel in it and add 1 ounce of stabil per gallon to clean it out while it's running. Probably check the filter and replace it if need be.
I have the same one and rarely use it. Got it out plugged it in and does the same thing ....found out the plastic cover on back was cracked and not letting the pump to build enough pressure
Interesting! Do all Reddy heaters have that horrible motor buzz? I have two Reddy R70 heaters with that same buzz. However I have a Remmington 115k and a propane torpedo heater that don't make that noise
ggsmith48906 I have this exact 55k BTU reddy heater. Mine isn't this loud but it is a little loud. I don't mind the noise, especially when its 0*F or colder out.
Its getting cold out now and I pulled mine out from 4 years ago. Aiming to save on heating it didnt run right. I purchased a rebuild kit here www.torpedoheat.com/ With the new parts and about an hour labor its running nice and hot but !!! I am still using the old fuel. Go figure. Thumbs up !!
I own an r55 and have been running it on diesel exclusively from day one. I bought it in the fall of 2012. It's always run fine. No smoking, no smells.

SO I DON'T HAVE TO HEAR WORTHLESS SHIT LIKE YOURS ON HERE!!
@@jetson213 Look, idiot. You said yourself, and I quote: "HAD TO BYPASS THE RESET BUTTON". The reset button is a safety feature. But I wouldn't expect someone who can't even figure out how to use a caps lock key properly to understand such nuance. Now get off the Internet and go back to trying to burn down your house. The grownups are trying to have a conversation.
