I know this isn't the most constructive feedback. But these talents look like you offered a homeless man a subway sandwich and asked him to make this talent tree.
Dark Ranger not being Survival/Marksmanship is one of the biggest misses I've seen from this entire Hero Spec system. Both Nathanos and Sylvanas, your two most prominent Dark Rangers both dual wielded melee weapons in many of their prominent moments in the game. Survial also has ranged abilities RIGHT NOW so adding one in Black Arrow would be perfectly fine. I just don't understand how they didn't pay any heed to their own lore or narrative when that's literally half the point of these Hero Specs is to fulfill class fantasies we couldn't have before.
I wanna see more class flavour, this is dull as shit. 1. Make Black Arrow procs turn Aimed Shot into Shadowburn Shot (Nathanos) and make it instant and Barbed Arrow into Plague-Tipped Arrow (Nathanos) with increased damage. Both abilities deal shadow damage instead. 2. Give True Shot and Beastial Wrath an universal cooldown like Wraith Form to make you deal shadow damage somehow while maintaining the identity of these cooldowns. 3. Turn Killshot procs into something cool, like Rive or Ranger's Heartseeker. 4. Turn turtle into Veil of Darkness or something more thematically appropriate, otherwise people gonna die of cringe. 5. Have some love for W3, you guys talk about Dark Ranger fantasy, but there's none in it, give us a chance to raise skelly on Black Arrow kill in pve or something, come on, look what Rider of the Apocalypse got! 6. Give us back melee weapons and implement them like rogue in D4, add some flavour, every lore ranger ever, even Farstriders and Sentinels have daggers or other melee weapons, getting rid of them was a mistake.
I hope these actually change the aesthetic look of the play style? Like cooler skill effect etc? I think that’s more important in making a class look cool and feel cool? Instead a bunch of things to remember that outsider don’t understand.
Look at how Thane looks on warrior. Mountain Thane warrior has lighting effects on all his abilities. So it's safe to say that aesthetics would be drastically changed on all classes.
Ya or even if they tied it to Disengage and had it behave like Sylvanius's banshee wave in HOTS. When you disengage you leave behind a shadow form for 5 seconds, pressing disengage again and you will reappear at the shadow form location. I guess would also be like the Void Elf's racial.
Dark chains is buns.. 40% is nothing with all the mobility and it only doing the closest target i cant wait to be getting ran down and the chains hitting a pet or someone eith freedom
good interview! this might be a casual take, but most wow players are casuals i think. i'm of the opinion that hero talent specs should get special visual spell effects. make aimed shot and rapid fire look like you're shooting dark arrows or something. visual effects bring a lot to the table when we talk about class fantasy.
Sooo stoked for our mans JB getting this exclusive opportunity. Best Hunter NA (unless trill, bad joke) and represents the class extremely well. ♥from Canada
No doubt Blizz will screw the damage profile of these abilities , or put stupid cast times to change BM play styles , etc. Hunter dev decisions have been nothing less than questionable, especially when it comes to MM so I don't have much faith at this point, but will wait and see
I'm glad these hero talents aren't something that will triple the damage of specs and whatever, just make a few fun abilities and passives and that's plenty to build upon.
These talents look like complete ass, why it is always a chance to do damage? Just like the current tier set for MM only a 3% chance to proc. I love going full boss fights without stuff procing and talents being completely pointless bc the proc rate is so low. About to throw the towel in for this game sick and tired of my class being dogshit. $100 on black arrow hitting a target like a wet napkin from a kids birthday party.
Imagine being a Survival hunter, Seeing Black Arrow, an iconic ability fo your spec, that was first introduced into the game as a core ability for your spec.. and now seeing it in the HERO talents and you as a Survival hunter cannot have access to it. Survival is a discount beastmaster at this point... is embarrasing.
this is incredibly disappointing i have to say, only one new spells damn. would have been fine if our current spells would get shadowy magic imbued and have an altered apperance because of that.
@@Xynth25 Take a look at the hero talent, these are some huge gameplay changes that look fantastic. Dark ranger is just a waste of an iconic class now.
Why MM and BM, when the tree clearly benefits MM far more than BM? Is Black Arrow going to be increased by MM Mastery? Kill Shot does a lot more damage for MM than BM. Why does it cover two specs when one of those specs won't ever use it? Seems like artificial utility.
They're not going to. They're going to put its stuff into MM, which is what they should have done from the start back in Legion. Ranged Survival is dead-dead.
@@Bepples Hunter has 3 design ethos now...the Pet Master, the Ranged Weapon Attacker, and the Melee Weapon Attacker. That's what Blizzard wants, trash your ideas of what the spec should be because of what it used to be. Take the best things that fit those concepts, which at this point is Aimed Shot and basically all of the old SV kit. That was the easiest win for Blizzard in Legion if they were converting SV to melee.
@@Xynth25 The melee attacker is a stupid concept for Hunter because it's just a handicapped Hunter. It's like making a Rogue spec's identity revolve around not having stealth. It's fundamentally flawed. It doesn't get fixed with inane workarounds and compromises, and it's clear it's extremely unpopular. To keep it around and keep working around it is to waste time and effort on a failed idea.
Your questions were awkward and painful borderline offensive and I’m not even one of the developers. If you can’t ask good questions get your community to help you.
Hmmm.. I think hero talents as an idea is great - I just think dark rangers being “reduced” to a set of talents is thematically disappointing and trivialising. Dark rangers, I think, can be its own independent class.
Devs: We don’t want players to be forced to play a aoe talent in single target. Also Devs: Here’s Shadow Surge LOL I’m just busting their chops, they probably overlooked that one and I know this is the first take but they need to make a option node for that one as well because that will never be used in single target raid or arenas. Other than that one talent the rest actually look interesting.
One more thing to add: after viewing a different video about this topic one thing mentioned that I hope is true as well is that Black arrow can’t be dispelled. If it can then it makes the whole hero talents useless.
JB the real hero! ty for the first look. I actually stopped playing hunter but I still love the hunter videos. if i could have MoP surv back man oh man then i might be a hunter again. but this is prolly not enough. gooooo priest lol
Love it, good questions and discussion - excited for dark ranger. Jelly love you man but, I think you'd be on another level if you reacted/replied to some of your RU-vid comments.
What if they had an ability that when you shot them with a particular arrow you could force move them 10-20 yards in any direction. Kinda like a shaman with his totem or druid with that push mechanic. Just a thought. Got this inspiration from Sylvanas in the cutscene where she shot an arrow to the iceberg and ripped it into "The King" :)
Think it’s also time hunters can weapon enchant either their bow itself or the auto shot arrow animation/color. Definitely could tell jelly was also hoping that aoe withering flame needs to have cc protection in pvp. With lack of defense it cost to much for hunters to break their cc.
"listening to player feedback and acting on it is what we do all the time" ... yea then why is cyclone still the best CC in the damn game and why is it still spammable?
My current main is an Undead Hunter so I am VERY excited. I could see how it would be jarring for someone who wasn't playing an undead or one of the elves with the Darkfallen skin. I also have a feeling people who hate Sylvanas and Nathanos are going to be salty. Playwise, I'm probably the most excited about the survivability. BM is fine as long as there isn't AOE damage from mobs. It feels like the second damage comes to us, we don't have much way of dealing with it. The dark hounds are also really cool. As soon as I got to Maldraxxus I found the nearest Tauralus to tame... and then promptly forgot I had to unlock them first. They've been the goodest boys.
Hunter, the most fked over class, from a design pov.! If you guys had made the Beastmaster a melee spec, which was obvious, you wouldnt have had this problem with Black Arrow. 8 years, I still cant believe they made Survival melee instead of Beastmaster 😑
@@anttihakkarainen1520 this is a flat out lie, surv was all about utility to mitigate the minimum range on ranged weapons, so you could get back to range away from melee
My first thought is that Grave Reaper need to also prock Dark Hounds. That's just how back arrow has always worked. It's not too much extra power, and it makes the spell feel thematically correct.
As a BM hunter it’s incredibly disappointing to once again just get passive after passive added and just more Barbed Shot resets. Call of the Wild already affects the CD of Barbed, Kill Command has a chance to reset Barbed. Just hard to be excited about same rotation with more RNG passive damage, Barb resets, and a single ability added. Not to mention Kill Shot feels so terrible to use with barely higher damage than Kill Command and Hunter’s Prey talent hasn’t been used by anyone since it’s iteration.
You have no idea what the new tree or new things for Hunter will be once the next expac comes out. You are crying about a tiny portion of a huge piece.
@@chrisprsg You missed the entire point. We have had the exact same rotation this expansion with tier sets not changing anything while other classes had their functional rotation mixed up. So far this tree is continuing that pattern by just giving one extra global every 30secs and Kill Shot outside of execute phase which is already almost a dps loss to use.
Is great if you're PVE hero who doesn't use everything in the spell book like a PVP player does, or if your spec already has too few buttons. But if you do PVP and your spec also already has too many buttons, then this is not great at all, this is actually GARBAGE. MM and Survival, WW, Unholy, Feral, Frost and Arcane, Demo and Affliction, Shadow, Enhancement, Augmentation, REALLY don't need more damned buttons! They actually need a PRUNING!
I like what I see so far. My only concern is the BM proc being BS while MM procs AS. It feels a little imbalanced with MM getting free procs of its heavy hitter and BM only getting a weak bleed effect.
Apparently there's a big dust-up about Dark Rangers being bad for Beast Mastery. A looot of people think "ranger" just means "no pets, ever." I grew up on AD&D... Rangers were woodsmen with animal empathy. That was intrinsic to their kit. There are plenty of settings where "rangers" work with tamed and untamed animals. I do agree with those unhappy about Black Arrow (formerly Survival) going to Marks/BM though.
not realy, the dark ranger should be for mm/surv, comes from wow's consistant lore, dark ranger alignes with old ranged survival and mm, and curent mele surv and mm. the hounds they showed in to it, has close to nothing to do with bm in comparisin to the other 2 specs. This is the same gaslighting as when they suddenly retooled rexar as a survival hunter to try and have an example of a survival hunter. When in actuallity, rexxars title, is litteraly "the beastmaster".
@@zbrinz720 People who don't complain about the button bloat are PVE heroes who don't use everything in the spell book in addition to focus macros like PVP players do. They never use traps, never use cc, etc, because they don't have to.
@@draegin2566 MM is already in need of a pruning. The absolute last thing it needs is, yes, even 1 more button. I see the devs were smart enough to replace Frostbolt with the new Frostfire bolt instead adding it as a new spell with its own button, but not smart enough to do the same with Black Arrow.
