Quick look at Rovan's new 45cc engine and by the looks of it this is the first video of this engine on RU-vid. Aiming to get it installed tonight so that I can run it tomorrow so stay tuned. Any questions just ask 👍
I was sent here by Danny (sick n tiredRC).... I'm very curious, but expecting disappointment. Just from what you've described, it should be long on Torque, but short on Power. And that Exhaust Port!!!! 😱 KNOWING that it's very different, they SHOULD have at least thrown in a proper Header, that will mate with a "Standard" Pipe. I'm just saying... I'm looking forward to following your testing, and just Subbed! Carmine 💥⛽
Hey..... would you be able to measure the exhaust port on your Skopod? Or the stock black muffler if you have it? Looking at the pictures I think it might fit the Rovan 45cc.
Anthony Davis SkoPod 63 exhaust port is bigger then the OBR 46/47 I know that for a fact! I think the one for the JetPro header that OBR uses may work on your 45 ? My SkoPod 62 pipe will work on a JetPro header for OBR 46/47 I also tried that and I know for a fact that the pipe fits the header ! It’s the header from the OBR 46 / 47 that will not fit my SkoPod . I can still measure for you or show it in a video? Just remind me . Not my next video but maybe the one after next? I also give you a shout out on my next video so stay tuned
KevinT Creations why don’t u buy one For a muppet that gets on the net and 1st starts by saying. Don’t worry about who I am Then proceeds to ask a pile of questions. Who are you Freddy If yr so keen to know about the engine. Open yr wallet terry
@@tontobb8956 i have 2 now a losi version and a baja version and ive begun reed porting one of them today... Best part i paid nothing my customer is paying for the porting for one by giving me the second one. And we got them for $270 shipped from rovans offical website.
@@almighty151986 look, u might be right, but engines are new and not many have done alot with them its inevitable that they will get worked on and it will be interesting to see the power gains, if any
I'm not sure what the measurements are for the CY R460's exhaust header..... But I've managed to get my header fitted with the help of a Dremal......if the engine performs well today and impresses me then I'll make my own exhaust flange, chop the old one off and weld the new one on.
Anthony Davis most important thing for Performance is to match the exhaust port and header port thin flange can be welded. Great 👍🏻video my Braaaaap ⛽️🔥💨👊🤝Brother!!! I can’t wait to see you run it! Dan from Rovan and King motors / Primal RC told me about this engine 2 months ago and there’s also a 49cc coming soon as well ! I just don’t have time to go pick one up and I already have way to much things going on at the moment. Keep up the great videos and great info brother! Wish we were neighbors . We could be wrenching together plus I have lots of different types of headers that we could try out what could be a close or direct fit for your engine. Liked and subscribed
Thank's for the kind words (Y) - Ran it today and it was horrible, carb is bad.... also think the exhaust is also causing trouble..... So I can either buy the exhaust Rovan sell for this engine with the correct spacing on the header to bolt right on or get a big more and modify it. The question is cost, I paid £220 for this engine and do I really want to spend loads on it getting to the point it should be at out the box.
Anthony Davis make sure your fuel tank is vented so there’s no vapor lock. If there’s vapor lock ? You will have same issues that a bad carb will give if the carb was bad so double check because the carb could be just fine??? Also if the exhaust port does not match header you will have poor performance and you will never know the potential of the engine
Do you see Craig Devine videos running this same 45cc in a dragon hammer and it’s putting real power to the ground!! Check out the videos if you haven’t already. And the dragon hammer is about 8-10 pounds heavier than a losi 5t.
No bud....it's a guy in Thailand who has it...... he owned his a month before I got mine in this video so did a lot of testing before hand. He found it over heated like a bitch (But his country is much hotter then the UK) and that changing the carb made a massive difference. He ported it and stuff too but he broke 2 of them...... I thought at getting another for my Dragon Hammer but ended up selling everything I own instead and taking a break from RC's, last I chatted with Rovan there's a 48cc version in the works so I might wait for that.
The 45cc now are not bad from what I been hearing an seeing like every new product they have there upside and down side ! Good an bad it a progress ! But I can see this being mod out an being a good strong runner
They're still awful..... Plenty still running lean with stock and a modded stock carb and I've still not seen a single video where it's come on to the pipe. Until someone makes a purpose built pipe that can handle the flow of a 45cc engine it'll never perform the way it should. Putting a bigger carb on it is a simple and cheap job, the exhaust is what's always going to let it down and using a 29-32cc exhaust won't ever let the engine flow properly.
Anthony Charles.... If you want to see this engine run , Type in RU-vid Baja Max 5t . The Baja max5t is new from Rovan, I just bought one . They sell for 999.00 use this code for 5% more off RVPCD5. So 950.00 shipped . This engine does wheelies on top eng , check out the video.
It isn't completely dumb..... A 45cc engine will produce a lot of exhaust gases and a normal exhaust port would of been too small and killed performance so from that point of view it makes perfect sense...... What is dumb however the bolt spacing being 4mm further apart then normal.
Note don’t buy knock offs buy a proper 45cc from rc max too be honest the hpi Rovan clones are definitely a cheaper way to make a more genuine product he’ll you can buy better parts that are cnc and not plastic make a clone into a hpi won’t be able to tel a difference when you slap better hardware on it won’t surprise me if the cheap clone gears glow red hot so it’s probably a good idea to get a proper drive chain system for it aswel
