Nintendo is all about creating new ways to play. So I seriously doubt it would just be some smaller docking system. I suspect it will either have a second screen or some form of AR. Reason for this is the second screen will allow DS/ 3DS games to be added to NSO. Also it will open up the doors for new ways to play.

The Wii u gamepad needs to be nintendos next switch 2. With a few adjustments this could be the perfect handheld = - Propper analogue triggers and backbuttons. Halleffect joysticks both joysticks on top and games made to be played with both joysticks! - Get rid of the camera, the nfc reader, the stylus and the horizontal line in the back. - Make the gamepad just a tiny bit smaller with bigger dpad and buttons like the gamecube controller. - Bigger 120 hz variable refresh rate oled screen (but not too big that it doesnt leave space for joysticks and ur hand to rest on) - A good fast mobile chip inside with lot of gpu power to play all games 720p 120hz, and a big battery. - Matte black color with rubber grips and red green blue yellow matte buttons with purple brown triggers each button its own color !

I don't see a gimmick like wireless docking coming to be. It's more worth it for them to invest in local 4k upscaling. 4k is the standard now. Knowing Nintendo and graphics, I don't think they'll process in 4K, but they'll make it look better on our TVs for now. I'm also betting it's gonna be called the super switch.

I think it will come around holiday 2024 so by holiday 2025 there are lots of good games. Yes all the old switch games and and Nintendo switch online are coming back. It will release with smash, 3D Mario, a Zelda remake, and Pokémon black and white 3. In the first year it could get Mario cart 9, new Donkey Kong, green Mario scary house game 4, and maybe splat 3.

I'm still of the boat that it'll have the obvious hardware upgrade: 4k, DLSS, etc. However, I kinda think that nintendo might go the route of a dual-screen Switch. A switch whose top screen detaches and goes into the base, while the bottom screen becomes a controller similar to the WiiU gamepad. Business-wise this makes sense for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they could bring back the 'DS' brand, which is just as known worldwide if not more known than the Switch branding. Secondly, they could then very easily add Nintendo DS games to their Nintendo Online classic games package without much extra development, which would up the value of the service and give them dozens of more first-party game options to add to it. Thirdly, they could make many more "deluxe" ports of BOTH WiiU and 3DS games, ones that they haven't been able to with the switch because of the lack of two screens. Nintendo Land, Star Fox Zero, Kirby Rainbow Curse, etc. We all know how Nintendo loves their deluxe editions.

Actually, the Nintendo Switch X is my idea ! I can't believe we have the same mind ! The idea behind it is because if you count the Switch models (Lite [even if it's just portable] & OLED), the next console is the 10th Nintendo home console, and X is a romanian 10 so you get the point

They're going to want to get as many Switch sales as they can during a holiday season before they reveal a new system just after a start of a new year. There was just a little over four months between the Switch's reveal and release so they could release it anytime from June through November if they reveal the system in February.

"Gimmicks" I'd be happy with (in order of not really that enthused to yes please) 5) Eye tracking so you aim where you're looking (I can see this getting annoying very quickly!) 4) A mid-range VR headset (sold separately) where you dock the switch 2 into the headset, and perhaps the headset has its own chipset in too? 3) An "expansion port" so you can upgrade your Super Switch overtime, just buy a "upgrade module" in like 5 years and bam, suddenly you not only have extra RAM but a new GPU and CPU that can run parallel with the base model's standard one, and be swapped out whenever a new expansion pack is released. 2) A wireless dock (sold separately) , say make it a wireless charger, but it also transmits a 4K signal to a HDMI dongle. 1) Ergonomic joycons, with "4K Rumble" and analogue triggers alongside a pro controller with a better D-Pad AND programmable paddles at the bottom

You make good points but just one problem, Nintendo is absolutely unpredictable with their releases

I know smash bros is a well loved franchise but i feel like the game isnt casual friendly enough to warrant it being the casuals choice like mariokart

It’l be a great idea if they have a Nintendo Switch lite and an Apple TV like device and they’ll connect to each other when you’re home so you have two screens inspired by the Nintendo Wii U and when you’re leaving you can play further on the go (only for games that support it) I’d be amazing if they make it backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch games. I just hope that they’ll make it of better build quality then the Nintendo Switch.

all that the next console needs to be succesful is better joycon structure (no more joycon drift or messed up R and L buttons), 60 fps cap for games, an in-console app to chat with your switch friends, a better stand, air docking, a way to have the joycons work even if they are backwards on the console (for those who wanna play blind), and an icon on the home screen that indicates your nintendo online membership status (whether you dont have it, you have the basic plan, or the better plan). The name should be a homage to the 3DS's sequel console: the new 2DS XL, or in this case, the New Nintendo Switch XL (it would have a bigger screen but still feel comfortable to hold.)

Really what they need is to make it able to handle games releasing on other consoles and entice devs to launch their games with this new switch simultaneously rather than years late ports and their own exclusives. It's really the only downside. A console that works on big screen and is also portable is the best of both worlds and it's a shame the catalogue isn't better. Maybe the port could add more power to it somehow so it can run heftier games on big screen play at the very least, if they can't get it to not choke in hand held. Better graphics isn't a big deal on hand held for me because the screen is so small but for using the TV it does for a lot of people. A lot of the older ports are new to me so I'm content for now but for anyone who already has those games on something else it's literally their classic franchises holding everything up to be honest.

Honestly a wireless dock is a HORRIBLE idea. There is latency as the biggest reason. If you are docking it you don't care about wires - now as far as being maybe more compact? Sure. But if anyone wants a wireless dock you will have a bad time.

The Joy-Con's need a bump on the back for ergonomics, pressure-sensitive ZL and ZR buttons, magnetic Joy-Con connection type, magnetic joysticks and a built-in microphone. The New Nintendo Switch should have PS4 graphics with a custom Nvidia chip for performance, so the Switch can reach 4k 250hz when docked, because of a Nvidia booster chip in the dock. There should be an option for custom Joy-Con colors that you can choose on the website before you buy otherwise you will just get red and blue, red, blue, white and black. The device should be so repair friendly that ANYONE can repair it, even if they aren't tech focused. The screen should be a special OLED without burning in as much that is 1440p. There should be a camera on the device that will be used for taking photos and videos that is 28mp 144hz 1440p max quality with HDR. The screen should be bright enough to be used as an amazing flashlight. There should be a 16mp 1080p 120hz front camera for taking selfies with HDR. These photos are completely raw, unless its HDR-fied. The Switch can be plugged into a computer, so you can import themes from there onto your Switch. Overall, this Switch model will be very powerful, probably even better than the Switch that came in 2017. I hope it sells more than the original Switch from 2017.

Liked the video mac, I don’t think air dock would be possible because the input delay would be horrendous and the only reason the dock is required now is so it can have more power which makes tv mode better.

New, console idea, a mix between 3ds, wii u and the switch. Like you put the top of the console into a dock like the switch and use the other screen like the wii u gamepad. Then if you want to play it portably, you take the top from the doc and clip it to the other screen to use it like a 3ds.

For the launch year lineup, I could see in addition to Metroid Prime 4 as the big single player game there could be a 2D Zelda game. I feel like it’d probably be a remake like link’s awakening, and since the remakes are outsourced to a different company, there wouldn’t have been a problem with it being developed at the same time as totk.

Instead of New Nintendo Switch the Nintendo Switch successor should be called the Nintendo Switch Nova.

They could call it "Nintendo Switch Ultra" as a reference to the N64's original name, which I think was either Ultra 64 or UltraNES. The avribiation would also be NSU. I know they want nothing to do with the WiiU because it sold terribly, but it was still a good system. Plus, I think the Game pad "Switching" from the it to the TV, might've given Nintendo the idea to make a hybrid console. I wouldn't be surprised if they used a WiiU Game pad for the first NX Prototypes.
