So happy my favourite formula racing series has been added to my favourite sim! Did a few laps already at Fuji today to do some practice for tomorrow and next week. I can't wait. I love this machine!! I recommend people to watch Super Formula when they can. Personally I think it's a lot more exciting than F1.
1:30 To be fair for some years now IndyCar's PTP is also time based instead of the amount of presses. The major difference compared to Super Formula's OT system being that in Super Formula once you stop using it, it's closed for some time unlike in IndyCar where there isn't any recharge time
Best part is the schedule if the leaks are correct… hourly alternating 15 min fixed 35 min open series. Finally a fast car I will have time to actually race!
Comparing this to an F3 or FR 3.5, it's much more obvious this is the top level of a national competition as opposed to a progression path for young drivers. It's spec but not entirely spec (Toyota v Honda, so brand loyalty creates rivalry), you have 30+ year old veterans for the young drivers to learn from, and the cars themselves feel like the best they could possibly be without entering the ludicrous world of F1's open design. It's a fantastic series irl, and it'll be fantastic in iRacing
Car looks like it could be decent but not anything very unique. I'll wait to see how this car works on the racing side, especially with the 15min sprint races.
iRacing should look to reduce the amount of F1 series to make way for this series. We do not need four F1 series. Any series higher than C should be open setup only.
