My family only stayed at Fort Wilderness when I was growing up. Both the campsites and cabins, we never did golf carts, so you can definitely do it without them. Having said that, I would recommend people get a golf cart if they have the budget for it.

I wouldnt even consider staying there without a golf cart. When we go to the outerbanks renting a golf cart is the best part of the trip. they need to add seat belts to the carts that you rent.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, I know that it's not a "necessity" with the resort bus and whatnot. . . but it's a game changer in my opinion. So much more freedom.

The fort is definitely a unique vibe! It’s our family’s resort of choice whenever we vacation at WDW. I’m curious as to which loops have they finished updating? We have an upcoming trip in August, and are hoping our requested and favorite loop (2500) still has the original cabins to enjoy for one last vacation. Either way, we will make the most of our stay at the fort!
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 28 дней назад
The first loop to be completed was [unfortunately] the 2500 loop, which is where we stayed. There are multiple other loops being worked on right now. I know that 2700 is still the old cabins, but I can't recall if/what other loops haven't been updated yet.

I really appreciate this video. You add quite a bit of information to the new cabins. I was not surprised to hear ya'll talk about the "smell" of the new cabins smelling like the wood section of Home Depot! I'm sure it will take a while for the smell to go away. I still feel the same about Disney changing the cabins to make them DVC cabins. That still doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, great video you two!!

17:45 I’ve never heard this mentioned in reference to DVC properties that come with appliances and furnishings. When checking in, do guests complete a full walkthrough with a staff member to identify missing items or existing damages, similar to remting a car? Have you ever heard of Disney holding guests accountable for lost items or damages they said happened before checkin?
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 29 дней назад
Nope. Nothing like that happens at Disney Vacation Club properties. Just like at any other hotel, you simply check-in and you're good to go. That said, just like is the case at any other hotels, DVC Members are responsible for loss and/or damages. The only difference is that we're contractually obligated to pay. . . which means that if there's an issue we notice during our stay that wasn't our responsibility, you can bet your bottom dollar that we're reporting it right away! Generally speaking, DVC Members also tend to take good care of the rooms that we stay in 'cause we know that damages and upkeep come out of our pockets when we pay dues. I've never heard of anyone being held accountable for problems that occurred before check-in. Again, it would more likely than not be reported as soon as it was noticed.

Hey there! I know you said you would never buy into a moderate made DVC, but my husband and I are looking to possibly join DVC and we have a family of 6. Staying in one cabin for a smaller point value per night than getting a 2 bedroom villa or 2 studio rooms is appealing. Can you share your thoughts on weather or not you think DVC is worth the purchase price for a large family? I feel like I'm have to purchase a HUGE contract to try and stay for more an 2 days at a more luxury resort 😕

The main thing to keep in mind is the bunk beds are in the parents' bedroom, so think about if you'd want that sleeping arrangement years in the future as your family ages.

Hey Stephanie! Thanks so much for asking. . it's a GREAT question and one that I'm sure a lot of people are wondering about. @@RoastBeefSandwich Fantastic point! The sleeping arrangement in The Cabins is certainly unique. It's also worth mentioning that the bunks don't have traditional bed linens; they have sleeping bags. Whether or not that will change in the future I don't know, but this is at very least the situation at the moment.
@RoastBeefSandwich

The cabins definitely aren't for us, but my wife and I will tour one with our guide when we are on property next month. I think DVC got the formula for this property all wrong. It's far too expensive. But I could see a lot of DVC owners booking at 7 months, which opens up availability at other resorts, so I'm not a cabin hater. Just not my vibe.

@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 29 дней назад
It's certainly too expensive for what you're getting, at least in my opinion. Between the lacking quality of the cabins itself [materials and workmanship] and the complete departure from what I'd imagine most DVC Members are accustomed to [including lack of amenities and proper management], I'm not sure who they thinks going to buy and hold onto these contracts. More about that later on though, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.
@RoastBeefSandwich
@RoastBeefSandwich 29 дней назад
@@2foolishmortals according to my guide, sales are extremely slow and very disappointing. It's no wonder in my view. I think DVC hopes these will be a 7 month trade-in for existing members, to open up 7 month availability at other resorts. That is a best case scenario because it doesn't seem like they will ever sell out the resort without significant changes to the pricing (which won't happen) or amenities (which would have happened already if it was going to).

Do resort buses still operate within Fort Wilderness?
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 28 дней назад
Fort Wilderness has both internal buses and buses to the theme parks. The internal buses run along 3 routes that have stops throughout the resort. The transportation to the theme parks can be taken from the Outpost and Settlement only.
@fbueller

19:56 Are both regular cars amd golf carts allowed on the main road? That is an accident waiting to happen. Throw in some guests on golf carts knocking back some beers and things can get dangerous real quick! Do teenagers and children often get caught driving golf carts without an adult chaperone?
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 29 дней назад
Yes. Cars, golf carts and Disney Buses all share the road at Fort Wilderness. That said, Fort Wilderness isn't like other sprawling resorts [think Saratoga Springs, Caribbean Beach or Old Key West] where you can use your car to get around the resort itself. This keeps car traffic to a minimum, at least in our experience. I will say, most of the people operating carts had a pretty good handle on it. It's clear that this is a regular thing for most of the people at this resort and the etiquette that comes with using a cart in an environment like this was either being followed or was understood enough for people to catch on. Now, as far as breaking rules is concerned. . . Fort Wilderness definitely seems to be the Wild West of Walt Disney World Resorts. Yes, people are drinking and driving. Yes, kids are driving carts around. Yes, people are smoking at the pool. Yes, people are bringing full size speakers [Karaoke Machines] to the "quiet pool" and blasting music all hours of the day. Security is around. Nothing gets done. . . . but that's a discussion for later.

@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 29 дней назад
Honestly, I think Fort Wilderness does a pretty good job with transportation given the size of the resort. We timed the internal bus and it comes around every 10 to 20 minutes. . . which is pretty good considering. Of course, having the ability to get yourself around in a golf cart is still our preference for this resort.
