They are an iconic part of the nation and many others, and it is a form of Constitutional government for 15 nations. The BRF and The British Monarchy are world renowned. Bcz the palace is owned by Crown Estate, not the government. The Crown Estate is owned by the monarch by the right of Crown. It is an independent organization. Buckingham Palace is maintained by the money generated from the profits of Crown Estate..

Yes for a fee. But NOT on the balcony itself. Quite expensive but the gardens are included as well. I have visit inside the other rooms before but now it has the additional wing with the balcony room available. You cannot go onto the balcony though

No member of the RF now stays in Buckingham Palace since it is under renovation now..

It isn't a family home though - no members of the royal family live there.

While none of them are currently living at Buckingham Palace due to the renovations, there are a number of private rooms and apartments that they have used in the past, as a number of the royals used to have their London base there. They will probably be used for that again, but not for a few more years. None of those are open to the public. Neither are the offices, which take up quite a bit of space as it is a working Palace in addition to one used as a residence. The public doesn't get to see the swimming pool, post office, cinema, kitchens or the extensive staff quarters either. The public actually doesn't get to see too much of it other than some of the grander rooms used for state occasions. I wouldn't mind betting that Charles will remain at Clarence House, and commute to Buckingham Palace as needed, and the next full time royal resident will be William when his turn comes to be King.
