Nice build, but it is NOT a SHTF Bug Out trailer. Would be good for disaster response communication van. Just MY2Cents worth.

If one owns a ton of land and has the means and manpower to meet security needs, could serve as outpost in rural area. Definitely not something one wants in a city or en route slowing one down.

I'd call it a command and control center. Has applicability everywhere from disaster response to shtf. If you have a couple vehicles to bug out with especially with a group. there shouldn't be an issue

Hmm, a "bug out" trailer that's going to set itself on fire when the EMPs happen, sounds great.

At 12 mpg towing with that half ton Toyota how far do we plan on getting? I would add sliding windows in the sides and sell hot dogs to the marauders as they come to visit. Since the only thing tactical is the fire extinguisher..I would get two.
@Cetok01
@Cetok01 4 года назад
Nice setup. I think it could be useful for "conventional" disaster relief efforts and support. My two cents (including for "other" uses): - Move the base of the mast inside so it will project through the roof; that would provide more inherent stability and help lower the overall profile of the trailer as something more than a mere U-Haul type vehicle. - Paint the mast & camera housings a mottled light grey or sky blue if you expect a lot of cloudless skies) to minimize its visibility at a distance. - Add 3 hook eyes on the masthead below the cameras for the attachment of guy lines for further stability in high winds. - Include an option for remote placement of radio antennae (perhaps via microwave link or fiber-optic cables) to avoid being directly targeted by incoming guided munitions (hey, you never know). - Replace the fire extinguisher with a clean agent one instead of ABC dry chemical powder which can ruin electronics. Sentry brand makes one called 'Clean Guard'. More expensive than ABC but worth it if you value your gear. Relocate the extinguisher next to the door; you always want your extinguisher in the path AWAY from the fire. Never store your extinguisher in the most likely site of a fire...you won't be able to get to it and it will explode from heating up. - Install anti-EMP circuit protectors. - Consider acquiring radiation detection equipment for surveys (www.ki4u.com/products.htm) - Consider adding remote security sensors and monitoring gear to protect your site, such as a modified SimpliSafe system or military surplus geo-acoustic sensors. Just a few ideas from an all-too-busy mind.

I agree with the comments here, that this is more in line with a disaster response base, not a "bug out" trailer. It always amazes me how many in the "prepper" community seem to just be LARPing, which is fine, but.... it isn't really practical or realistic. Those who are truly interested in "bug out" type things should do a search here on RU-vid for "overlanding". THOSE people actually put the principles and specialized gear into use, which would be pretty much the same as a bug out situation. They are not all "tacti-cool" but they have the entire thing figured out with products already proven and suitable for the actual USE, vs "fantasy".

I don't believe anyone sat down and crafted a bug-in/bug-out plan and how this trailer fulfills part of the plan. This trailer does indeed resemble all of the ham radio "EMCOMM" dream trailers that are built first with lots of "cool" gear and then later they try to shoehorn it into some city or county's emergency response team. At the least this video should have outlined the plan and then stated the goals for this trailer to achieve. At that point they could share with us the features of the trailer and what those features offer to achieve their function in the plan.

I disagree for one it is on a trailer so it is mobile plus everything is already set up don't have waste time when pitching camp/ site. Cameras for security don't need have much people on guard duty. This is better setup than an actual TOC.

I might be missing something but "tactical response" and "bug out" aren't exactly a pair of terms I would notch together. You're either bugging out and creating a low profile and riding out whatever event has happened; or in the case of a tactical response you're headed towards a fight and my happy ass isnt getting in a little box on wheels with cameras and getting surrounded lol. Just my opinion but that trailer would be loaded with supplies for friends and family or used as a way to bait would-be looters and picking them off from a distance while they broke into the trailer.

I like the idea. What a great niche. Very far-sighted. Many people seem to only focus on the negatives of how visible and high value the setup is. Sure, that’s bad in many situations, but mostly when you’re alone. What if you’re not alone? Imagine having even just three or four other teams of like-minded individuals in your group? It would greatly enhance security I find. What if you’re in a group of 20 or 100+? What a great position to occupy in such a group, if you’re of the high-tech ilk! Even if it makes you a target. Others NEED you and WANT to keep you safe and alive, especially if you’re the only operator. Also great for reconnaissance or scouting for a new base. I wouldn’t personally be qualified or interested in occupying that role but I would much prefer being part of a group that HAS such a dedicated team member than one that doesn’t push come to shove. Imagine the redundancy of supplies and equipment in a group of preppers where EVERYONE prepped for lone-wolf shtf.... You’d all be there with more or less the same things. Teaming up almost becomes disincentivized at that point. Why protect this guy when I have everything I need? And same vice versa. Why’s he gonna protect me if he’s got all he needs? Sure there’s strength in numbers... but if that’s all there is, what makes YOUR number so important?Prepping for lone-wolf shtf is almost a self-fulfilling prophecy, though it does have its own masochistic appeal. There’s just something about being THAT mf. Seems there’s still a lot of work to do I’m sure to fulfill your vision on this build, mainly what others have already commented on: the essentials that seem to be missing. But so far, if it is what I think it is, it’s pretty fucking cool.

Not sure I'd set up the same, but I do really like the idea of a dedicated utility trailer with power and comms hubs, particularly if part of a group of vehicles that's likely to establish camp for more than a night at a time. If you spared a few foot at the back of it for a shower and toilet cubicle, you'd be about the most popular car in the convoy.

This would be excellent for a BOO for a large group or disaster ops, hardly for bug out ops. This is incredibly TOO high tech for bug out operations. Excellent equipment but not effective for SHTF scenarios. Also the level of technology would be hard to maintain, especially long term, for the average person. The energy requirements have to be off the charts.

Cameras are actually great in a shtf situation, but wired run in ditches with a few wireless is the way to go. Vehicle is for moving gear, unless it is a Ferrit Scout Car or MRAP on loan.
