Kwell are a great travel pill for seasickness, anyway great to see you underway and on your adventures, need to do a little work on the night vision filming as it was very course and hazy vision, otherwise good episode - Take care, be safe and God Bless America 🇺🇸

Thank you for your input. Since we plan on documenting our 3yr circumnavigation, we see this as a marathon not a sprint. We are getting used to the boat, living together 24/7 and not working so I have planned to publish every 2 weeks until we cast off the lines heading south in Sept/Oct-ish. After that, I do plan to publish weekly on our current schedule of Sunday at 9am. Again, thanks for you comment and following our journey.

Nice trip. I bought my Leopard 47 in Grenada, and my girlfriend and I sailed it up the Caribbean on the west side of all the islands. Checking into any of them was not an option as it was during covid. We got to St. Johns, then went to St. Thomas, Megans Bay, and then on to Puerto Rico. We anchored in that harbor in Culebrita which is amazing. Then on to Port Salinas where we left the boat for a month and went home. Then we came back with my son and sailed the north of Dominican Republic with stops in Puerto Bahia and Ocean world. Then on to the Bahamas through Mathewtown, Acklins Island, Crooked Island, Long Island and then all through the Exumas which was awesome. Saw the usual suspects there like the grotto, Staniel, Normans, etc. then on to the Berries for a night in Chub and on to Bimini and then Fort Lauderdale. The nice thing about making your way through the Bahamas is that there are calm anchorages everywhere, great things to see, and you can pick your weather.

Just checking…. did you try a bit of reverse on the prop first to see if that takes the weed off? Apparently it sometimes does. Thanks for sharing your journey and beautiful boat.

We tried that, but that sargassum is pretty strong stuff and it gets all tangled up. We picked up some on our last sailboat and had to do the same thing, but luckily we were in the intracoastal and was able to pull into a small marina so I could dive and get it off. I actually had to use a knife that time! Thanks for following our journey!!

When you pick up seaweed on a prop, try putting the engine in reverse for a minute or two. Usually clears the prop.

My experience with moonless nights is that you need to turn of all lights, dim as much as you can even minimise the red lights and try to sit with lights in your back… then your eyes can adopt much better to the darkness and you’ll actually see, unless large squalls rains snow etc makes even that impossible. But otherwise that works best. Your instruments look very bright, likely they have a night /dark mode. ( that includes wind depth speed and navigation) Life at sea, once your hooked.. it’s forever.

Yes, Banana’s on boat. Maybe that’s why they didn’t ripen! Thanks so much for your comment and following along. Hopefully, many more laughs to come!

We bought a big bundle of bananas on the side of the road in Dominican Replublic and had them through the Bahamas. Great for feeding the iguanas.

We discovered you a few days back and have now seen all of your videos. We are RV owners and they can be challenging at times but boats are a whole different thing and have so many more challenges to tackle, however seeing your progress to date we figure you will be fine. We think that Shannon is amazing and are looking forward to your future adventures. One thing is that it seemed to me that it would be very easy for someone to fall off the back of your boat, but maybe that's just the perspective we see through the lens? Aww, thank you for the comment! Yes, this adjustment has definitely been challenging but we are working through the struggle! Their are lifelines for both sugar scoops and across the back - might not have been matched when you saw but we did try to keep them latched when not in use. We are excited for you to follow along our crazy journey!

Bananas need the SUN to ripen. It's called photosynthesis. Look it up, city slicks.

We live on a boat and they were on the counter the entire trip without any shortage of sun.

bananas ripen with the gas they give off as they age. so put them in a brown paper bag to capture the gas. they ripen quicker. photosynthesis has a lesser effect.
