Been a while since I've watched you man, your reviews got me started up on my Venom Ghost, then decided to go to a Lifan KPR200, and now I'm on a Vulcan 650 S (Finally got something a little nicer lol). Good to see you're still posting brother. Idk if you ever travel out of state, but I am going to the Mid America Freedom Rally in Buckhorn Missouri this year, maybe come on up brother! Otherwise, maybe one day I'll finally go back down to Louisiana. I moved quite a long time ago.

So, when you buying a Honda ST1300 and a Lycan. 😂 We are heading along the Gulf Coast the first week of June towards Florida. Now that I have the Sat1300, I'm going to do more long distances rides.

Thank you for the very informative videos. As a Louisiana boy myself, I have been interested in this bike. Your videos may have just persuaded me to go ahead with the purchase 😁 Glad I came across your content.

Thanks a lot for clarifying the oil filter size on that you should do more tutorials on that so we can get answers cuz I have one and I couldn't figure out what size oil filter and because it's Chinese nobody wants to give out any information and you take it to a bike shop they don't want to work on it I really appreciate it thanks

@@Chippers.Family.Adventures no problem. I do plan on more maintenance type videos. I got too many different projects going on at the same time. 😂

I buy the oil filter for my Lycan on Amazon. It is the same as the one that fits a lot of Yamaha V-Twin engines

😢In 2009 I bought 2 Lifan GY-5 200cc dual-sports; they were in the $900 range new so I tagged/registered one and kept the other for a parts source. In over 9,000 miles I only borrowed the rear brake master and slave cylinder from the spare bike. Fuel mileage was a consistent 88mpg and never had a break down other than the rear brake issue that was easy to fix. Lifan gets high marks from me.

And the newer are even better. They have really stepped it up in quality. Both Lifan bikes have been good.

That's awesome to hear. I'm glad to see that even back then lifan made pretty decent bikes. someday chinese bikes may dominate the beginner market due to pricepoint.

I bought an "American" Lifan LF200 GY-5 dual sport back in 2007. I believe it was around $1200 drop shipped from Texas. It had a few problems. While assembling it, I discovered that the chain adjuster blocks that go inside the box section swing arm were not thick enough. Tightening the axle nut down would have crushed the swing arm. I fabricated some spacers and glued them on, so the adjuster blocks fit fairly tightly. I discovered another more serious problem later on, while adjusting the chain. Because the front sprocket, swing arm pivot point, and rear sprocket were not aligned properly, there was a HUGE difference in chain adjustment between the bike without a rider, and with a 240 pound rider (me) on it. In order for the chain to be adjusted with me on it, it had to be adjusted so loose that it was almost falling off with no rider on it. I had to fabricate a tool that allowed me to check the chain adjustment with me sitting on the bike. Other than those things, it was fine for about around 3500 miles, when the engine started rattling like crazy. I was way out in the middle of the AZ desert, by myself, so I had no choice but to ride it back out to a main road. The engine seized up. After getting it hauled home, I removed the right engine cover (clutch cover) and discovered that the centrifugal oil filter that was bolted to the end of the crankshaft had come loose and fallen off, causing the engine to lose oil pressure. That was the extent of my experience with Chinese bikes.

@@geraldscott4302 the quality of these bikes have come a long way from back then. Even the quality of my old 2016 Hawk was no where near the quality of my newer Lifan bikes. These bikes are well worth the little money we have spent on the old bikes.
