Thank you Andrew for your very kind feature and feedback in your video. That's super kind of you and wow you really made it look even more beautiful on the Speedy. I think the lesson I am taking away here is that I too need a Speedy in my collection! Also a complete strap monster isn't it! Thanks again and I hope to see you soon - David
I did a similar thing with my speedy a couple of months back. Got a brown leather strap from Watch Gecko of the same style which was in their sale and an eBay buckle. Surprised on another price rise. I got mine 3 years ago with a 20% discount duty free at the airport so under £3K. Bought at the right time!
Beautiful craftsmanship on that strap, I will be placing an order very soon with David.. A thick padded Badalassi wax tan brown for my Spirit zulu....just to ring the changes from the bracelet.
Reserve Commander I’m still gathering my thoughts. I’ll get a video out at some point, and put them to you guys. Initially I didn’t like it. Maybe put off by the price. But on reflection and reading the details more, there’s a lot to be excited about. I think if I were to buy a special edition Speedy I’d probably go Apollo 11. But I can also see the fun in the Snoopy. Maybe when I’ve recovered from buying the Submariner, we’ll see if I’m still taken. I’ve been wearing my basic Hesalite Speedy on a strap daily for weeks. I love it’s simplicity and could be all the Speedy I need.
Thank you for the review. I'm pleased to say that I ordered my watchstrap from The Strap Tailor about 2 weeks ago for my Oris Miles Complication. Yes, David's price is very keen at £115 by comparison. My current strap was made by ABP Concept Paris, using the same Ostrich Leg leather as the one I have ordered from David, and cost €240, including postage. That was 10 years ago so an average of £20 a year for a strap of high quality. All my current strap needs is a deep clean and re-dyeing, and it will be as good as new again and ready to go onto another watch. I am really looking forward to getting my new strap from The Watch Tailor.
I have the FOIS and you’ve got the look spot on. Incidentally I have mine off the strap for the moment and put It on an uncle Seiko flat link bracelet. It certainly fives a good Ed White vibe to help save me 12 grand 😀
3:53 Astronaut Eugene Cernan wore a NASA-issued Omega 105.012-66 (NASA #67) on a velcro over his spacesuit forearm during the Apollo 17 spacewalks... #MoonwatchUniverse Cernan wore his NASA-issued Omega 105.003 (NASA #28) on a steel mesh bracelet underneath the spacesuit, he also wore it on Gemini IX (June 1966) and Apollo 10 (May 1969)
Hi Andy, nice video. I have both the Pro and FOIS.I personally prefer the Pro for its more tool like appearance thus the FOIS gets very little wear. The FOIS is a beautiful watch and wears lovely,I have it on a flatlink which looks great but is just not different enough for me. Really enjoying your content.
Great video mate, your should check out the Forstner flat link bracelet which I own and is fantastically well made, or uncle seiko bracelets for the speedy, of which I also own. They both give a fantastic vintage look and feel to the Speedmaster pro.
Subscribed, nice video. I love my FOIS but as previously mentioned in your comments, the original strap is not great, and far too short. So mine is on a NATO, but I like your choice of strap here. I'll check them out. Regards from France.
Wonderful video Andy and I’m glad you find the right strap for your Speedy, looks amazing. I noticed the Breitling website has some really good looking straps as well. What is your take on that?
I was looking recently also. Those straps are expensive, although I’m sure they’re nice. I may check out a Chonomat B01 next time I’m in town. It’s not a brand I have much experience with.
The good thing is, there's no wrong answer, there are options to suit budgets and wrist sizes. And unlike the new submariner, you can go into an AD today and try one and buy one.
Hi Andy what are your thoughts on the first Omega in space watch?. Am thinking of buying one, do you think it wears to small or is ok. I have a 6.5 inch wrist, also what are your thoughts on the leather strap it comes with. Look forward to your next video take care.
I think it’s a great watch, it’s now discontinued but if you can still pick one up retail you may get a bit knocked off. I like the straight lug case design and sits well against the regular Processional model. The dial and bezel are the same size as the Moonwatch, it’s just in a narrower case. I liked the strap when I tried it on. I would imagine there’s a new version out later in the year to replace this one with the new movement. It won’t be anywhere near as good value, so go for it I say.
hi there great video . I am particularly interested in purchasing the exact strap for my omega MK40 been looking for quite sometime until I come across your video. Kindly let me have specs of your strap so that i can contact David. Thank you.
Se below link to the strap I bought. David can help you choose a different stitch or liner colour if you want. He’ll also advise how to size for your wrist. Hope you enjoy it. thestraptailor.com/product/palmer-full-grain-whisky/
This watch is like a small version of the original man on the moon. It's so small on my wrist and the leather strap is so much tapered that it looks like a watch for the ladies.
The watch is actually the same size as the Moonwatch. It just doesn’t have the crown guards and lug profile. I guess the strap is love or hate. I liked it, and it does look good on the ladies 😉
