Welcome to the Ayreon Universe! I'll try to clear up a few things for you. "Prog" refers to progressive rock music. "Hammond" is an organ. The Hammond B3 is a staple of prog rock music. There is zero chance that Michael Mills uses autotune. He is a vocal freak! If you want your mind blown, check out the live version of Ayreon's "Everybody Dies" ! Michaels range is ridiculous! A reprise is a revisiting of an earlier musical theme/passage. I hope this helps.

Yeah, Michael Mills has quite the range but there is definitely no auto-tune. some terms that were used. "prog"stands for progressive rock. one of the more famous progressive rock bands is Pink Floyd. NWOBHM stands for "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal" Michael Mills definitely does not use autotune. I heard he has a vocal range of 4,5 octaves. Most singers are happy to have a range of just over 3 octaves. Michael Mills is also a crazy talented multi instrumentalist that writes his own music and text. The long tall guitar, bass and organ playing hippie in the video is Arjan Anthonie Lucassen. He is the one that writes and arranges the music and text for Ayreon and some other projects, often with a certain singer in mind. Several options for the next Ayreon, all live and awesome. "Everybody dies" from "Ayreon Universe", "Intergalactic Crusader" also from universe, and a nice surprise with "Age of shadows"

As others have stated: Prog is progressive rock, a wildly adventurous and expressive genre of music encompassing everything from alluring borderline ambient music to escapades bordering the unlistenable, where being adventurous and expressive in some form is the common denominator. If you start going down rabbit hole you'll find a vast galaxy of music to enjoy where elements from jazz, folk and classical music in particular find their way into the rock and metal universe with 50 years or so of material to uncover.

I never heard of Aryeon before. I actually like them lol. Thanks for for this reaction! I know you've reacted to Spiritbox already but you have to check out Courtney LaPlante the singer, doing a live studio version of their song "Circle With Me Live One Take" it's amazing seeing her going from her nice sweet singing voice to screaming her head off, back to singing so effortlessly.

On electric guitar string tones are picked up by lines of special microphones (one for each string). It matters where you place them (at the back, or maybe closer to front of guitar body) so, usually there are 3 lines of them. Musican can chose which one to use (there is switch to do that), according to his needs and taste. Arjen is telling that he used line in the middle and that he raely does that. As i understand Hammond Organ is a quite old (on of the first) electric organs. It was widely used in 60`s and sice then its sound became polular for some genres. As i understand it has a mooving parts that hepled to achive its distinct sound. Michael Mills and autotune? Oh, mylord there were whoopin for much smaller accusations (joke). This level musicians do not need such "help", they are just damn good.

A rabbithole with the best singers on earth. And Arjen is the daddy of all of this. BTW Michael Mills has a range from #F1 to C6 without autotune. On Everybody dies at the Universe live concert Michael sings a B5 live.

Ayreon's music is described as progressive rock, progressive metal and power metal sometimes combined with genres such as folk, electronica, experimental and classical music.
