Interesting and enjoyable. Not sure I agreed with everything but had a good time with all the analogies and such. One thing regarding your comments on Aron's fill at the end of his solo. The thing that elevates it even more is he's not using a double kick. Aron is a single kick drummer, making the smoothness and speed of that fill just a slight bit more incredible. It's a little thing but we-even retired-drummers notice things like that. Thanks.
@@dennislindqvist8443 Yes. . one hand. . one foot. . . . All from ANOTHER PLANET, I think!!??? Who else can do that??. . Not too many . . . that's for sure!
Except he's not using a double kick... He's single kicking that fast. Have a friend that met Aron at a convention years ago and he single kicks everything. The large floor Tom is used to fake double kicks and triplets. The dude is crazy good.
This song puts stuff on the burger you never thought could be there, along with lots of hot sauce that makes you have to pause for a drink. And it's huge burger. Cheers!
The trouble with most bifrosts or kinnikians (spelling?) is they don't produce music that everyone can enjoy. That's not the case with Dirty Loops and that's their metier.
I'd have to respectfully disagree. If you love it, awesome. I'd never try and tell someone else what to enjoy. But man, I just get so bored with the "how many notes/chords to throw off listener expectations can I fit in as short a time as possible" paradigm. It's fun to play, for sure, but ends up feeling more like practice exercises rather than interesting, substantive tunes.
Great new reaction, first time watching u. Will follow your reactions😊 do More DL, They just released a new album together with Cory Wong. Magic✨ Try ” follow the light” or their cover of ”thriller” and my favorit ”next to you”from the album u reacted from, its Gospel👍
🦀🌵🐡🤔 Of course some of us listen to the end! Really enjoy these; keep the analogies coming, even if *ahem* one of you seems to have an unusual fixation with comparing things to porn... More substantively, this is my first experience with dirty loops and there is SO MUCH going on all at once ha
I love your reaction video! Re: Your analogy of different comic book levels. A few things I don't think you considered re: Dirty Loops' collective and individual musicianship (and overall success to date): 1. They're all younger than Weckl, Corea, Clarke, Gadd, Metheny, Chambers, and the Jazz monsters we all love, so give them time. 2. Unlike those cats, Dirty Loops is ingeniously employing their composition and playing skills in the genre of Pop Fusion -- that's how they describe themselves -- an expansive style that they've pioneered and continue to excel in. 3. In so doing, one can hear elements of Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk, R&B, Classical, Gospel and other styles ... and remember, they're Swedish! 4. They're highly successful and very well known throughout the world, playing in Jazz festivals all across the globe. Yes, JAZZ festivals. 3. In addition to their imaginative originals, they do incredible covers. I know you reacted to "Thriller." Check out earlier covers such as "Baby," "Just Dance," "Circus," "Rolling in the Deep," "Ta Fete," "Wake Me Up," and others. Indeed, they started their career as a highly imaginative cover band. People of different stripes and ethnicities love them-- not only other musicians/composers but music fans in general -- just check out all their reaction videos on YT. Also, their first-ever original song, "Hit Me," became the #1 song in Japan when it first came out (great video, BTW). It was the first time a Western band achieved that distinction in over 5 years. DL has LOTS of videos on YT, some live-in-the-studio, others are songs from their albums (no video). Check out "The Way She Walks," "Accidentally in Love," and "Die For You" for example. Unsure if you know this, but SAMSUNG hired them to do a cover of their six-note ringtone, Over the Horizon." It's on YT; check it out! It's amazing what they did with just six notes as a major motif! P.S. The bassist, Henrik Linder, did 3 songs in a Fusion trio called GEM. Check them out!
The first time listening to this song when it came out, I thought of it as like a "jamband" kind of thing. Very impressive still though. In the same vein of Polyphia to me. Not to say anything bad about either groups at all. They're incredible bands that are incredibly proficient at their craft. As "Another Musician" commented, I would recommend Snarky Puppy - Lingus (Live) too. It's kind of in the same vein too, but I don't know. I like it more. Seems to brew a bit longer.
Funny thing is... When I started this video I KNEW the chord voicing at @05:59 would get you. And sure thing, it did. :) Next up, thriller! (Dirty Loops and Cory Wong)
I’m telling y’all - if you appreciate amazing instrumentation and composition, you’ll appreciate Plini’s work. He has a great band behind him and they create some of the most magical prog metal I’ve ever heard. They’re like Animals as Leaders but a more optimistic tone. Try Electric Sunrise or Handmade Cities. You will not regret it 🙌🏻
🌭The have continued to procude since WSO, there is a lot more that have come from DL. You can stop as much as you like. It almost feels like there should be a guide where you can stop in DL songs to comment 😄. Do more DL reactions you guys are great to watch.
I know you guys are really on the rock tip usually for new music, But I see this now and I saw that you guys are also into games. I'm gonna suggest you look into reacting to Final Fantasy music. Idk if you play any of the games, but regardless of whether or not they suit your style, the music is brilliant. A lot of what you'll find is from older console generations with 16 bit or less sound, but a lot of those tracks were remade in Final Fantasy 14 the online mmo. There is a deep treasure trove of good tracks to dive into. Some of the progressions and melody lines in this jam remind me a lot of Nobuo Uematsu and his sort of successor Sokken. I'd really like to hear your take on some tracks. FF14 in particular has many tracks covering many diff genres.
1. 🦤 2. Sticking with JB porn analogies, JB was done with this video like 3 mins in. 3. My man Charles tried to stick it out and ended up with a cramp lol. 4. I love how JB’s analogies get more and more detailed and convoluted every video. 5. Awesome job as always….. keep it up!
I gotta say...I agree that you guys talked over so much of what was going on that you missed A LOT. You should go back and listen more. This kind of composition is pushing...not pulling. If you aren't paying attention to any one little section, then you'll miss a whole musical statement and, since one leads to the next, you'll miss the transition and the the point of the section of music. BTW...yes, I did watch past "this point". 😉
Have something different for you both, Godsmack is an American hard rock band. But this performance is not a song. It is a Drum Battle between the lead singer of the group & the drummer for same. A running joke between the two- the singer always claimed he'd played better than the drummer. So they brought this to their live concerts. ( Godsmack/ Drum Battle/ LIVE ) I know from watching most of your reactions you will both love this. Please enjoy, it's on me! ? Can you tell who is the Drummer vs. who is the Singer??
I mean, how would you be able to tell if a random emoji is because you said to, or just because it's a crazy internet person doing something random? xD 🥁
Feeling Frisky There is another video out there, Larnell Lewis, Has never heard ( Metallica--- Enter Sandman ) after 1 listen attempts to play! DRUMEO!!! You be the JUDGE!
Would be awesome if you could react and brake down SEPULTURA - Ratamahatta, metal band from Brasil with a cult following and some heavy heavy jungle beats.
can u guys please do a reaction on anderson.paak pleaseee. he is a singing drummer and he is super dope!!! would love to know you guys’ opinion on him :) much love, brother
I totally get your porn vs art analogy after watching and hearing this for the first time. It really felt like they threw all the notes at you and just blasted you in the face with it. It was just too much stimulation. I can’t imagine listening to this all day it would just get too exhausting. I’ll still check out more from them as you can’t really judge a band of this quality musicianship on one song.
Yeah... They're doing too much, for sure. The stereotype of jazz school kids, embodied in a single band. No doubt they're awesome instrumentalists, but their "more is more" mentality takes away from so much of the interest that would be there if they didn't seem like they were trying to hide the core elements of the songs under melisma and unnecessary complexity.
If you wanna hear the music as a whole, you know you can just... Listen to the song, right? This is more a breakdown and critique of the song than a "reaction." If you want a reaction, don't watch channels run by actual musicians. 🤣🤣🤣
