FIRST REACTION TO Dirty Loops & Cory Wong Thriller 

Two points of interest: 1) Cory Wong & Dirty Loops have never met. 2) This was recorded with Cory Wong & the horns in or around New York City, USA; Dirty Loops in or around Stockholm, Sweden; and the engineer/producer in or around Seoul, South Korea. TRUTH... The wonder of modern technology!

LOVE Dirty Loops!!! Love the groove & for me they are the modern Queen! And, the bass is definitely my favorite instrument!

Interesting how JB (?) wasn't as moved as "expected", but honesty is always the best. Am not moved by a few DL tracks but do absolutely love this and Follow the Light.

First time viewer. Nice honest reaction and good discussion at the end. I personally loved the "The Way You Make Me Feel" 12/8 groove, but what really blew my mind was the symphonic bridge, complete with double bell euphonium, flute, and clarinet, then into a quick bond theme before modulating back into the now-familiar funky Thriller vibe. In my book, super-talented musicians taking some words out of that common vocabulary and writing a few new sentences with them. Pretty cool. Lots more Dirty Loops for you to check out! Subscribed.

Man... I felt just like you until I got a feel of the groove. lol, I listened a few times and I am hooked. Let me tell you about me. I am from GARY, INDIANA, and Mike and I went to the same grad school. I used to look in their window when their dad had them practicing. He ran off my miniature butt and I didn't do that again. I went on and did 29 years in the Army and became an SGM. I still have contact with the brothers and we listened to this via Skype, and we became emotional. I got to myself and my eyes began to sweat because Mike touched this band to re-create this. They let M.J. know they LOVE him and produced their VERSION of "THRILLER" and its pure creativity. LOVE YOU M.J. old friend. (sniff)

Nice cover, I especially dug the horn feature section. Given JB is more in a "rock/prog/metal" space I'd recommend you check out the band TesseracT (given the comic book reference I can't believe I haven't suggested this before). They're a progressive metal band out of England that have a very "djent" sound and really like to take you on journey in their songs. They've had a few different members/vocalists since their first full album in 2011, and a lot of their songs are split up into multiple movements, but I love every album of theirs. I'd recommend checking out their newest live album "PORTALS", with "Of Matter" being a good place to start.

Fake Charles has the right idea here. JB - I’m curious, when you listen to music can you sit back and enjoy or hate a song completely on the surface level anymore? Or because you’re a musician do you automatically start breaking the song down into the nuts and bolts of what’s happening musically and critiquing that part of it?
