Saw them in Germany as opeing act in a concert. It blew me away. She has a great voice live. Fantastic music. Bought there albums immediatley!

@@TheDoctorIWho Nice! I saw then in Scotland with Epica, crazy good performance! Ran into Cammie randomly before the show, told her I found out about them through Lost in Vegas. Took my Mom to the concert as her first metal show and she got to meet everyone in the band. Cammie and my Mom got on really well. Everyone in the band is super cool and super nice.

Cammie Gilbert is on the new Ayreon album "Transitus". You can hear her with Tommy Karevik (Kamelot) and former Doctor Who Tom Baker on "Hopelessly Slipping Away". But this track just seeps into your pores... ❤️

I love the way Cammie's voice kinda breaks during those long notes in the breakdown/bridge section.

Yeah, you can hear why Arjen wanted her for the new Ayreon project. Really, really like her voice. The effect on the drums was very cool. The insistently ponderous tempo makes the narrative progression of the song feel almost inevitable.

Thought I read Oceans Ate Alaska. This is new to me too and always open to something new. The closest band I've ever listened to that came close to this is Trees of Eternity (one of Nightwish Kai's former bands. RIP Aleah Stanbridge). Thanks for sharing. Will check out more from them.

Yes. Juha and Kai were in a band called Swallow the Sun, then Juha formed Trees of Eternity as a side project. RIP Aleah. I believe Kai wasn't in the original line-up. He was only involved in one album I think.

You really have to do some Protest the Hero! My personal favourite is Drumhead Trial, but literally any song will do. They recently released a new album which is just a goddamn delight to listen to!

Another excellent female fronted band i came across is 'Blackbriar' and the song 'Snow white and Rose red. Gothic fariytale is the genera i am inventing to describe them.

As others have mentioned, this band deserves more attention. Awesome that you did a reaction to them! If you get the chance check out their cover of a song of one of the most influential albums in Doom Metal. The song Solitude from the Candlemass album Epicus Doomicus Metallicus.

Love Oceans of Slumber, I'd never have guessed female fronted progressive doom would work so well. I however would love to see you break down a song by Vildhjarta, "Den Helige Anden" or "Dagger"

Oceans of Slumber is very interesting. They are for me a true definition of a progressive metal band. They actually did a cover of Strange Fruit which is AMAZING. Highly recommend. They are newish to me as well as I’ve really only dived into their catalogue in the last 3 months but they are absolutely worth the listen.

If you get a chance you might want to check out Lovebites "Thunder Vengeance" live, inspired by Slayer I read somewhere. If Slayer and Iron Maiden had five japanese daughters, it would be Lovebites, at least on this song.

I only came across this band last week. She featured on the new Ayreon song so once i saw that i knew they must be good. They do a superb version of 'Strange fruit' if you feel like doing another track.

Cammie is an absolutely wonderful singer, and I love the band's second album Winter (first one with her on board), but the stuff they've made since hasn't really grabbed me. Getting too technical / proggy for my smooth lizard brain I guess. :/ (This song not as much as others that I've heard)

Well I dig the singer, she's dope, but the drummer stepped all over the melodies with awkward fills and transitions that didn't work for the song at all. The band needs some work, maybe some new members and help with songwriting/structuring. I'm pretty sure you heard it, but apparently you don't want to criticize or ruffle any feathers ;-)
