Cammie sings on the new Ayreon album. I guess thats where most of the European fans came across 'Oceans of slumber'. Ayreon always finds the best female vocalists for his projects. How he found her in Texas remains a mystery Well done to Dan for picking this song. Oceans are one of the best American bands i have come across in a long time. Wolf Hunterz are obviously the best. Keep on rock'en.

Ocean's of Slumber's previous album "Winter" was pretty widely well received, it's not really that mysterious that anyone who just follows metal stuff on the internet would happen across them. I think I discovered them through a review somewhere. I mean sure, the Ayreon role will probably make her and OoS more widely known, but they weren't exactly obscure before.

Cammie Gilbert plays the female lead in the new Ayreon concept album TRANSITUS, alongside Tommy Karevik (Kamelot), Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Simone Simons (Epica), Joe Satriani and former Doctor Who star Tom Baker. You can hear Tommy and Cammie on the track "Hopelessly Slipping Away".

Travis, Oceans of Slumber are out of Houston, Texas. They formed back in 2011. Cammie replaced Ronnie Allen on vocals back in 2014, and then they had a big turnover back in 2018 or 2019. In fact, I think the only original founding member is the drummer, Dobber Beverly.

Nice pick @Dan. \m/ This tune along with "The Adorned Fathomless Creation" along with "Winter" and "Suffer the Last Bridge" are probably my favorites from Oceans of Slumber so far, but I have yet to hear something that I don't like. Cammie Gilbert has such emotion and soul in her face and the rest of the band kicks 'arse too. They instantly got me when I came across their Winter LP. BTW, for anyone new to Oceans of Slumber, I highly recommend going and listening to that sucker.

I caught this a few days ago on another reactor's channel. I straight away bought a CD. (Yes, I still like to have the hard copy version to add to my collection.) I adore Floor Jansen, but this woman's voice is amazing! The band is amazing. I still need to delve into them to find who's the driving force. I know there have been line up changes. Great reaction. I felt the same way.

From what I understand the drummer Dan is the only original member of this band who was there before Cammie was even a thing in this group. Cammie joined on their winter album and since then they've been the main members of the band and it's driving force.

When I first listened to them, I thought they reminded me of The Gathering - heavy doom metal sound, but with the unexpected vocal tone that just works so beautifully. Turned out it's no accident, as The Gathering with Anneke is a key influence, but they definitely have their own brew, this "Southern Gothic", almost soul metal, which I previously thought was almost a contradiction . I remember someone long ago said that metal is rock without the blues, but here they are bringing them back together...
