Fun fact, Mike’s first verse was a freestyle after having to re-write the song more than a few dozen times (referenced in the first line of the song: "Here we go for the hundredth time")
Not just the first verse, the entire song is about writing the song itself. The chorus especially ("I bleed it out, digging deeper, just to throw it away") is about them literally digging deeper and deeper to write meaningful lyrics and throwing them away at the end. Lots of other parts in the second verse as well ("Stop the show, choppy words and a sloppy flow"), ("F this hurts, I won't lie, doesn't matter how hard I try, half the words don't mean a thing and I know that I won't be satisfied").
It's wild seeing a guy reacting to hearing music I grew up with for the first time. I feel like I'm reliving my own first experiences with these songs through you. Definitely got me over here smiling like crazy, dude.
@@swarnit1 Nah, Fort Minor is just one person - Mike Shinoda. The rest of the "guys in Fort Minor" are members of Styles of Beyond. Common misconception because Styles of Beyond are featured on like 7 songs on Fort Minor's debut album.
Linkin Park - Somewhere I Belong, In the End, Numb, Faint, A place for my head, Castle of Glass, Leave out all the rest, Lost in the Echo, One More light, Heavy, Battle Symphony, Talkin to Myself, Crawling, Lying from You, and my Favorite Breaking the Habit. Side note the singer for Linkin Park committed suicide in 2017. His name is Chester Bennington
"It sound like they had some rap in there" You really need to listen to some more tracks from the first two albums - Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Linkin Park were one of the pioneers of what people called Rap Metal at the time. Many followed in their footsteps, but no one ever came close.
@@apguitar8075 Yeah, now it's considered nu metal, but when it all just started people didn't know what to call it, so there was a whole bunch of different names. Not to mention a lot of bands who made up new genre names just for themselves.
For anyone who cares: Run DMC is considered by the industry as the first "nu metal" artist, followed by the Beastie boys. Korn is who made it get huge and "radio friendly" for the few years it was really popular and gets credited by the industry for the rise of Nu metal. People knew what to call it back then even in the Run DMC/Beastie boy era. It really was never called "rap metal" by the industry.
probably but not like paid attention. like me asking you if you know a random song from gucci mane or nipsey hussle. not what you might have grown up and depends where youre form.
Omega Giraffe I think the hardest song in Hybrid Theory is By myself. It was so hard that Chester seldom did live version of it. Forgotten is also quite hard but a bit easier than it.
For those of you in these comments trying to "crucify" him for not knowing that Mike is a rapper, understand this A- its cool that he's even thinking outside the box for reactions B- to people who aren't familiar with their music, when you hear "Linkin Park" you think of a rock band. So its not uncommon for people to be shocked by Mike's flows the first time they hear them. See i grew up on songs like High Voltage, and Part of Me, and esaul/a place for my head (etc)... But I also grew up in an area where people thought I was weird for listening to that kind of music. So im familliar with this sort of reaction when someone actual HEARS Mike for the first time. Dude has REAL roots in underground hip hop!!! But a lot of people dont know that, so when they hear some of LP's more hip hop based music, its shocking to them
Linkin Park blended like 9 genres of music together. They are a master of their craft. I'd chester never had the vocal damages he was going through after touring hybrid theory and meteora we would've had even more bangers like those albums. I used to stream 8 hours a day every day, I lead teams to victories and after doing that for simply 3 consecutive months I did severe damage to my voice box and couldn't speak literally for a couple weeks to repair it. Couldn't imagine doing bleed it out few nights for months on end giving it your all. I also grew up in a poverty stricken urban area and was the first black dude to make skateboarding popular for my culture and listened to Manson and slipknot etc so I get the reaction when people think this is just some run of the mill rock band. Like no, take a listen and expand your collection of music you like. The question "what's your favorite genre of music?" Is such a loaded question to those with expanded tastes.
Linkin Park was the first band I ever listened to, I know hybrid Theory by heart, word for word, beat for beat, infection for inflection. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Mad love. RIP Chester. Always support Mike.
I love old school Linkin Park. This is one way to end the year. It's been a great year. I look forward to your future videos man. I hope you have a prosperous 2020.
Such a sad story....loved that dude and his demons of being molested just couldnt be conquered and dude was such a great dude beyond the music...he was just dead inside which is so devastating
My man, you need to react to linkin park - in the end. Probably easily their most iconic song, Fire squad popping off from Australia I feel we all need to see you react to in the end Easy a pass, these boys always making gold tracks. RIP Chester ❤️❤️
'Waiting for the end' has always been a linkin park favourite of mine. I've also always loved the sound of the rap on their album 'living things:' particularly 'LOST IN THE ECHO' and 'LIES GREED MISERY,' imo... absolute bangers!
ItsRyanA waiting for the end is definitely amazing, BUT breaking the habit hits you in a euphoric way mannnn! Just the Electronic start then the instrumentals. Phewwwww
I think your Linkin Park reactions are my favorite because of how surprised you get. To me who's been a fan forever it's so surprising that people dont know who they are but discover them and then love them is amazing. I'd love more Linkin Park homie. Obvious pass from me. #Fire squad
All of Shinoda's new stuff is gold. Love the depths he goes to in that album to express the roller coaster of emotions, and his willingness to share it.
@@matthewdawson5560 Actually yeah you're right. Not yet. I'd rather him listen to others like Somewhere I Belong, Easier to Run, Points of Authority, Pushing Me Away...etc. Someone just give him the Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums please.
Hey dude, love the content, I noticed you mentioned that some of this song sounds like Rap a little bit. Not sure if you know this, but Mike Shinoda sings the rap on this, and he is the same mike shinoda from fort minor
Check out the tribute video of their song Numb. After the lead singer Chester passed away they did a concert dedicated to him and his memory and the song is amazing. Gotta check it out. 🔥🔥🔥
LP 1st and 2nd albums are the best from them. Hybrid theory "In the end" is probably the song most people 1st remember from them until the transformers movie.
"Sounds like they got a little bit of rap going on" Well yeah, Mike is a rapper and producer first and foremost (go check out his fort minor stuff and post traumatic). And Chester was the one who encouraged him to start singing 😭❤
"This sounds like rap", Linkin Park has always been like that, have you never heard Linkin Park before this, I don't even know how you would miss hearing them in Movies, radio, tv.
A person can be too much into one musical genre that he could miss a lot of popular stuff, i was too much into metal that i didn't know who Sam Smith was, or the weeknd, it can happen
@@KeaHM You don't have to be into a musical genre to hear it. I'm literally donating plasma right now and they are playing "numb". Also Sam Smith, the weekend? who? Are they played on the radio, do theme songs for movies? Played at sporting events? The gym? In Commercials and tv shows? This is my point, Linkin Park is everywhere, it doesnt matter what type of music you are into, its about popularity. I might know who they are if they are popular, I just know them by name.
@@BraheemIII then you make no sense because the artists that i just mention are one of the most popular pop music artists out there right now and that proves that if an artist or band has millions of followers people can still not know them
@@KeaHM ok, what tv shows has it played on, movies? radio? oh, he's 153 on the billboard 200. Pretty sure Linkin park had dozens of number 1 hits, not just within their genre, but on the overall 200.
@@KeaHM How about this, I don't listen to rap, linkin park is the closest thing I will get to it. I stick to rock, yet I reckognize eminem, snoop, jay z, it's about long term popularity.
I know I’m late to the party here but watching you explore linkin park for the first time is bringing back memories of when I did back in the day. Man I love this band ❤
Layedback, need to get you onto Akala FITB part 4. Deep and educational. It's right up your street. Another great reaction, your the man for these honest reactions. All the best for 2020. Love from the UK.
Linkin Park is fire. Their early albums are alot of rock/rap mix. They well rounded as well man. Amazing melodic songs too. Definitely would watch more reactions with their music. Keep up the quality content! Love the channel.
