lynn m He was implying that the OP was saying black person in lieu of Rapper. That is part of the reason that Lost in Vegas (LIV) is so successful. As Eminem said so eloquently, IF THEY WERE WHITE THEY WOULD HAVE HALF.” LIV are extremely intelligent dudes but don’t get twisted, middle America and rural whites are drawn to seeing intelligent people of color discover, appreciate and fall in love with what they perceive as “white music” ( Yes I know the history of music and understand where rocknroll started)
@Adz Nevermind Just google "Terry Bozzio" and you'll see why he is laughing at everyone's kit... Including Danny Carey, and everyone from the the last 50 years... 26 toms 2 snares, 8 bass drums, 53 cymbals (incl. ride gong), 22 pedals (incl: 5 working hi-hats, wood djembe, foot cymbal, jingle stick, rik, wood tamb, foot tom, 2 metal things, foot gong). xylo, glock, chromatic gongs, big gong, 2 electronic drums, misc. percussion
There are two rules (that I know of) in the mosh pit: 1. You get rough and rowdy, but you do NOT fight. 2. If someone falls, you stop what you're doing and get them on their feet.
@@Atrenu Yeah once at my last metallica concert i was 19 and some chick next to me got grabbed on the boobs by some stranger and i shoved him on the ground and 3 other people that seen it started kicking him in the legs and sides LOL.
System of a Down are from my hometown LA, they're Armenian-Americans from Glendale, but I'm half-Persian and have always related to and loved them. Toxicity is a landmark record and I'm proud how they use their platform and clout to speak up for Palestinians and Armenians across the planet. They are true rock stars who give no fucks but the music and their message.
I was fortunate enough to see SOAD at Ozzfest a million years ago. They were SO good that I cried...the energy was crazy. 20,000 people were on their feet & singing along with fists in the air. Absolutely beautiful.
I really feel like I just witnessed you falling in love with this band. The euphoria on your face from 4:40!! Man, EXACTLY how I felt when I first discovered SOAD. Thanks for bringing that feeling back.
It is awesome when I see an artist from a completely different genre of music appreciate something completely different. I love that you appreciate the art form of music in general, not just a closed in view of what you put on your daily playlist. Keep doing what your doing man.
Frrrr moshpits are like nice riots. Everyones crazy crazy until someone falls down and then everyones out helping making sure everyone gets their chance to mosh
even nicer to the females that hop in. if one of them falls they get IMMEDIATE help, and if one of them gets hit, there's an absolute shitshow on the dude who did it
SOAD concerts are the best. Saw them on tour at 2018. When they played the Prison Song. Everyone went craaaazy. It was like a wave of people pushing each other. I could see from a distance 3 groups started a literal firepit and moshed around it.
@@Jane-ow7sr it's a common thing, at least in black/AA culture. It's almost always good and very different than a regular disgusted look. At least that's been my experience.
have seen them live twice and had goosebumps shivers and a tear all at the same time man. They are soooo good on stage. The energy of the room was CRAAAZY
That part at the end is called a breakdown, and it's the greatest part in every metal song. The hardcore/deathcore scene is all build ups and breakdowns and it's great. This is just Hard Rock from the early 2000's.
I was at a show on the queen mary and saw a girl who couldn't have been more than 5ft tall get knocked by a dude twice her size and get back up screaming like a banshee before jumping back into the pit. One of the best mosh pit moments I've ever witnessed.
@@mikimouse8985 if you think toxicity is their best album then bro I'm sure as hell you haven't listened to anything past chop suey, aerials or toxicity, and I'm sure you'll get defensive if I say there are better songs on better albums, toxicity isnt shit and I listen to it every day but it's not as good as self titled or mesmerize man
System of A Down is one of my favorite bands. Glad to see you enjoying their music. This album was my favorite of theirs. I can listen to it all day every day.
Dale Howey the interpolation of traditional middle eastern scales with western rock structure is a sound that no mainstream artist has pulled off since them
As someone who is a lover of all genres from all over the world. I've fallen in love with your videos. Especially as you explore rock and metal, bands I've listened to since I was a kid, like disturbed, tool, SoaD. I absolutely love seeing your reaction to these bands because it brings me back to when I first discovered them all those years ago. The hype, the confusion, the feeling you feel in your soul from it. I love seeing someone who has a pure appreciation and love for music in general. Genres are borders and not many can hop across borders like you are. Mad respect.
@@teensinthekitchenandmore3136 why Serj is a big advocate for teaching about the Armenian genocide + why he lives in New Zealand. Good interview if you can find it.
I honestly have been watching a lot of your videos because i like watching you react to bands that i love... And im all up the rock genre, and i have many other interests in music beyond rock... Its great to see someone honestly react and enjoy it just like many of us. I am looking forward to discovering new music as well on your channel, ive found that its a great source for music... Not only that but its also a good small talk about the song itself.
"someone's getting punched" - that's the thing about music like this, you can't even imagine the goodwill in a moshpit sometimes. I can say of every live show I've ever been to, the ones with a moshpit always felt safest in terms of people looking out for and after each other.
yeah , metal is known for his good people and ambiance, from all concert and festival i've assisted , metal concert/festival was always the funnyest with the nicest people i've ever meet ( with celtic festival too )
He wasn't saying it in a negative way guys. I get what he was meaning. He was saying the energy would cause him to swing. And I fucking get it. SOAD makes me want to explode sometimes😉
Always think that the reason that rockers and metalheads are so laid back (besides the dope) is because the aggression is taken out in a socially acceptable way, the mosh pit and the dancing. Its raw energy.
Man no lie, I love seeing you vibe out to my favorite rock music that I listened to in Highschool and still love. It's amazing to see people discover and love new music.
This reaction is everything. I feel like so many people just write off SOAD from the get go because they're different, when that's what makes them a great band. It's nice to see someone just vibe to and appreciate the music for what it is instead of nitpicking it for what it isn't, or is too much of... if that makes any sense 😂😂
this song is great on a lot of levels man don't ever feel bad for enjoying music I'm not even a SOAD fan but they have a LOT of interesting stuff and this guys reaction is pretty much what everyone should feel, and THAT IS THE POINT! FUCK YEHA
As soon as he said "turn em up a little bit.." I knew he was in for a treat lol and yes! i totally agree with the last part should've been extended even more
Which one tho? The into song on Mezmerize or the outro on Hypnotize? Both are fire tbh, but for me the intro Soldier Side on Mezmerize takes the cake. The clean tone on the guitar with both Serj and Daron singing gives me chills to this day.
That's how SOAD is. They're Armenians who went to the same Armenian school in California. But I do know the singer, Serj grew up there as a kid up until 7, I think. He remembers bombs dropping and the death. Their music, as weird as it gets, also talks about the shit that went on and how Turkey still denies the genocide against theirs people.
"art is actually expressing yourself" I totally agree. I never liked metal but I always loved SOAD Idk why, not all of their songs ofc but they really are amazing and their songs are always so meaningful, great reaction as always 👍
I’m really glad that you fell in love with SOAD man. I have been a huge fan of them since i was around 10 years old, my first cd i ever owned was “steal this album” by them. As a hispanic guy living in Puerto Rico i was obviously the odd one out, but to this day I listen to all of their stuff on a daily basis.
As someone who grew up listening to ALL of these rock songs you react to then later on brushed up on my good old school rappers and now rap is usually my go to. I thank you for these videos and your fair and honest point of view, I've always felt certain aspects of each genre play super well into the other and, as a general rule of the universe, music IS supposed to bring us all together, even if we don't bang the same thang. Much love and God bless you sir. Keep up the good work!
I LOVED their show during Ozzfest, it was one of my all-time favorite shows I've been to... then I was able to see them a second time and was so happy. SOAD is still my top band of all time since I was 14 and I'm 28 now.
