He explained in an old interview that when he wanted to learn how to play left-hand guitars were very rare and extremely expensive. Far outside what he could afford. So he said he bought a used righty and "improvesed". Damn good job I'd say!
The problem is that Janie Hendrix blocks all the stuff she owns, so very little of what you suggested is able to be found on youtube. Such a shame too, makes Jimi be excluded from all these younger people being able to discover him. There is some stuff on youtube, but some of it is just a bad night or quick tv appearance or whatever, so the problem is even worse since most of what is on here is not his best.
If you want more of Jimi, I'll tell you the HIDDEN GEM of the rock world, Jimi's magnum opus: "Machine Gun - Live at the Filmore East in 1970". It is the single greatest live audio of the greatest guitarist who's ever lived. Yes, that's a big statement. Yes, it's that good. No, you will not be disappointed.
How in the hell can you NOT know who Jimi Hendrix (RIP💜) the best guitarist in the world is/was⁉️ He is truly amazing and plays left handed. Wait until you see him play the guitar behind his back and with his teeth. You need to feel "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" 🎸🎸🎸 I have never heard a bad song from him. However, his live performances don't show his vocals as well as the studio version but shows him as a performer and GUITAR GOD. A few of my favorites: 🎶Hey Joe 🎶All Along The Watchtower 🎶Foxy Lady 🎶Voodoo Child
I personally find it amazing that people of this generation, regardless of musical genre preference, do not know of/heard of Jimi Hendrix. Dude transcends genres and paved the way for a lot of modern music. I cant think of an artist or band that has not been touched by Hendrix. A God in the music industry.
I saw Jimi play live several times, and I met him in 1968. He was everything they say! His performances were visceral and spiritual at the same time. He changed the electric guitar forever. For Black kids into Rock music, he was our great idol, but he transcended race and genre. He was a musical prophet!
R.I.P. to one of the greatest guitarists and musicians of all time 🤘🤘🤘🤘 in honor LayedBak, you should check out “Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower” this one goes crazy!!!
Hendrix is easily one of the best guitarists ever next to Stevie Ray Vaughan, sadly both left us at a young age. You check out All Along The Watchtower by Jimi, and both Hendrix & SRV do great versions of Voodoo Chile and Little Wing. Check out live versions.
I mean at this point in history and how far we have come in rock n' roll its really hard to reinvent the guitar like these guys did or even Jimmy page. They were on a whole différent world
@M 40 Agreed, SRV is great the only guitarist other than Hendrix who can own a Hendrix track, but for me his best work is his Hendrix covers, so Hendrix is ahead on originality, he created startling new music and his guitar playing just looks and sounds so intuitive.
Have a look at (also RIP) UK guitarist Gary Moore and his version of Hendrix''s 'Red House' at the Montreaux Festival. And his other blues stuff. He's at least on a par with Hendrix and SRV. At least.
"Purple Haze" was the name of a popular, LSD (drug) back in the day. "Whatever it is, that girl, put a spell on me": She gave him Purple Haze and he was trippin', like she put a spell on him.
"When I first saw Eric Clapton, I thought 'ah, here's a master guitar player', but Eric was a guitar player. Jimi was some sort of force of nature" -- Jack Bruce, bassist for Cream. What I consider to be his absolute best has no video, just sound. Close your eyes and watch your jaw hitting the floor. Jimi Hendrix playing "Driving South" on BBC-1 radio: vimeo.com/204320283. My mind literally cannot process this.
Your face when the guitar music is so epic you can’t deal 😂 it’s my absolute favourite. More of that please 😆 he could also play the guitar behind is head. You’ll blow your mind watching that video
Jimis my favorite musician please please do more of him. Id really like to see your reaction to the song are you experienced. That shit blew my mind the first time i heard it.
Everything Jimi did is twice as impressive because he pioneered a lot of this hard rock distorted stuff, he wasn't standing on the shoulders of giants, he was the giant.
Jimi was a phenomenal performer because he was one of the best musicians who ever lived. Wholly original, imaginative and awesomely accomplished--the likes of which we're not likely to see again.
Imagine listening to this while smoking weed or doing some quality LSD back in the day (your grandparents lol). The studio version was really well done also.
You are on the right track brother...keep on doing Jimi Hendrix and bringing it to THOSE who do not know but will find out so they can become EXPERIENCED!!!!!
Nah bro he has the low E string up top and High E down. So he is playing it the normal way for lefty guitarist just he is playing the guitar that Right handed players play.
It is hard to play an instrument and sing, it’s even harder when you realize boss here plays lefty flip haha, he learned to play the guitar, essentially upside down. Jimi’s one of the coolest figures of his time.🤙
You ran into one of rocks icons. I was a teen when Jimi hit it big with music like this. I'm part of a lucky generation because so much great music was made back then.
Today I'm an old fart 57 year old guitarist. Since the age of 9 Jimi's music has been my passion, my goal to strive for. What made Jimi was not so much his technical ability but his creative talent. Jimi was humble, watch some of the old interviews with him (Merv Giffin show is a good one) and it'll become apparent how humble he was. Back when Jimi was alive there were Jazz guitarists and classical guitarists who had skill levels that far exceeded Jimi's and Jimi was quick to point that out. Nobody in rock/blues music was doing what Jimi was doing, and those who approached what he was doing couldn't achieve what Jimi achieved. I grew up a couple hundred miles from where Jimi is buried (Renton Wa.) and I've been to his grave a couple times, it's a sad place for me. Stevie Ray Vaughn loved Jimi and you can hear it all over his music. Stevie Ray did what Jimi did: he took what he learned from his influences, added himself to it, and then took it all a step further. I live near New Orleans and so I can go to the city and hear people following their influences and honing their skills every night. As an old fart I love to hear a person flip out when they first hear what I've loved for almost 50 years. Music can bond us all together.
The feedback at the end is all Hendrix. I've never seen a live performer do that or be able to control it like he does or did I should say. I play the guitar today because of Hendrix, I first heard him when I was about 10 or 12 years old and have never gotten over it. He is still a master the Stratocaster
SRV was amazing, but nah, Hendrix was the G.O.A.T. Period. His creativity, along with the songs he wrote on his own make him the best ever. He created the path that Stevie would follow. SRV himself would have told you that, he said it many times in interviews.
Playing guitar bombs in the sixties. This guitar sound just was unknown then. When u heard Jimi play a new song, it felt like u were taking a peek into the future of music. What a journey it was for all of us. It was real clear his talent was on some other level. I still miss him.
Alex Sava it’s titled in a way where it sounds more like he’s never heard a rock song before. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy his reactions just not the click bait titles.
This festival was huge. Hendrix went on at 12 midnight , and he played the Star Spangled Banner while fireworks were flying shooting up in the air. It was the 4th of July .
If you weren't Experienced before, you certainly are now welcome to the Jimi Hendrix Experience . Jimi R.I.P 😢 in my opinion was and will forever be the GOAT guitarist 🎸 ever. That wasn't just a guitar he was holding that was his lady and together sweet music they did make . Jimi's charisma , sexuality which he had in abundance and natural born musical talent made him the phenomenal performer he was , sadly he passed at such a young age and was just starting to get get the recognition he deserved we are very lucky though that he left us the gift of his music 🎸🎤✌💕
HA! You're killin' me, loved the video! Yeah man, there was none cooler than Jimi. This is the tip of the iceberg, I'm hoping by now you've become more Experienced! He remains in a class by himself.
Jimi Hendrix was an absolute titan among men. Considered by many to be the greatest rock guitarist in human history, his career was tragically short as he died at the young age of 27 years old. But even in the few years he was active, he influenced the entire world of music. He defied all the odds while doing it too. He was a Black dude performing at a time when there was still a lot of stigma about it. He was left handed at a time when guitars were only made for playing right, and so he played his guitar upside down with his left hand. He shocked the world in the best way possible.
As far as his guitar work goes, Hendrix was one of those guys who was just so damn good that he'd just start fucking around with it for fun and not miss a beat
Loved your video, I am 59 and a lifelong (since I was 15 y.o.) K=Jimi Hendrix fan. I hope you have gotten into his other things, my special favorite is his "Axis Bold As Love" LP, "Little Wing" is a standard now, and his LP "Electric Ladyland"
'He make it look so easy'. Yep. He's untouchable. Always will be. Jimi's not just the greatest guitarist of all time, he's one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time. Music simply flew out of him, and he did more in three years than the rest of popular music did in the following thirty.
When Hendrix came on the scene, it was him and somewhere down the line was everone else, including Clapton, Page, B.B. King; EVERYONE! and they knew it, bowing to the one and only. R.I.P. Check out his Song, "Poligap." Rainbow Bridge album. 🤗🤗 from a sixties child. Rock on!
The fact that he had to flip his strings on a guitar so he could play left handed, the way he just leans on his whammy bar to create that sound and makes it all look so effortless, this is without a doubt one of the greatest guitar players of all time, and you haven’t even seen the vid of him playing guitar with his teeth yet, you’re in for a treat with Jimi Hendrix. I recommend all along the watch tower next
