Hey 44T - I have a 2015 MT09 got used, it has some cool bits already done - re spring in forks, a Penske rear shock- nice EBC wave Rotors ? With nice pads, braided Lines - it stops almost as good as any Ducati with brembos I’ve owned. Also full Akropovic exhaust-The CP3 makes beautiful sounds it has 20k miles, so fun! wheelies for days probably the most fun bike I’ve ever had!
19:58 obligatory R9 mention, nice. I'm just waiting for the reveal, and hoping for a release in Q1 2025 like the KTM 990 RC R. Excited for these two !!
5:55 finally someone properly acknowledges how awesome the quickshifter is in terms of what it provides that other makers do not offer. Downshifting while accelerating and upshifting while decelerating. I also find that pretty amazing.
Looks like a riot to ride!! I'm still not a fan of the MT09 looks. I hope they update the XSR900 with the new electronics for 2025. Would love an XSR900 SP.
XSR900 SP Never coming sorry. I confirmed with a yamaha rep. The MT sells 3 times as much. So they have enough interest for an SP. You could make an SP yourself though by upgrading the components!
If Yamaha put the rear-ABS-off option on the base MT, I'd never buy the SP. I'd upgrade the suspension to something better than Yamaha is ever going to do with it.
I have a 2021 SP, (last model) and its an utterly class bike, underrated and probably one of the most capable back road scratcher bikes out there. That oven hob switch on the new model is gash.
I have a 2021 MT-09 base and I haven’t been interested in the 24 model because I didn’t think it was worth trading my bike in. This changes my mind. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for this at a local dealer. I wish I could keep more of my parts to transfer over but I think the frame sliders are the only thing I can keep
@@FortyFourTeeth had a R1 cross plane , brakes were horrendous, had a mt10sp too brakes were poo poo on that too my tuono brakes give me a reverse face lift .
@tuonouk6896 I've rarely complained of braking power on my FJR (keeping in mind that they're trying to haul down 650lbs plus me), but the more other bikes I ride, I become more aware of the lack of communication. Definitely better than the Royal Enfield it replaced, but certainly not great.
Struggling to think of anything else I would want out of this platform other than maybe semi-active suspension, brembos front/rear, lithium battery, and tank pads. Maybe on an SP2 variant for a bit more dosh?
Can't believe they didn't put right angle valve stems on it! Did they think people didn't like the ones on the MT10? Great bike. Amazing, fantastic bike. Not buying one new, until it comes with fairings and says R9 on the side.
Tried this and the Monster SP, and the Monster won on agility and low down grunt. I could have gotten the MT SP and would have been very happy, but the Monster is a bit more fun on the smaller roads I ride most of the time. I still miss my old XSR900 a bit though....
I think I know what I'm getting as a smaller sister to my gen 3 hayabusa, this does seem to check everything. Love the color scheme as well, blue silver and black
Great funny and to the point review as always. Glad they've addressed the brakes, the 9 and 10 are weapons even without these improvements so its definitely a marker to other makes.
Lots think that you have better suspension makes it harder, but it makes the useable window more compliant, but some also make it harder when the track is smooth.
Hey Fagen. Would be great content if you got one of these to modify. Add some trick bits. See how it goes on track, like what you guys are doing with R1. looking forward to the next R1 update/BBB 😃
As someone with a bike with a keyless ignition; it's nice not having to use a key, I did have issues with the bike recognizing the key when I first bought it, you can bypass the key with a pincode (my bike doesn't have a key lock on the gas cap)
I have a 22 MT10 and was about to px it for a 24 MT09, now I've seen the SP it's actually halted me going ahead because next year it's now inevitable that there will be a MT10 update with Brembo and we'll be laughing
I'll wait for the R9 how it looks, my wife and I both need new bikes. I was settled on the KTM 990 Duke and for her the MT09 SP. But now KTM comes with the RC 990 and Yamaha with the R9, I'll wait for both of these and see if I can get a sport/naked combo instead of a naked/naked.
Hopefully seeing them now here in the UK means they'll start delivering them to customers soon. Been delayed for months, some engine recall issue, apparently.
If you brought over Neevsy and Northover to 44teeth, my god… I will probably never watch another RU-vid channel again. Definitely need them on as special guests!
Keyless ignition is a massive turnoff, especially if you’re on track. The dash is too small. The exhaust and front end look horrible. Apart from that, not bad.
I test rode the standard model last week and I have to say, compared to my '21 model it feels less meaty in the midrange. Maybe due to a smaller airbox to accommodate the flatter tank? Anyone else noticed this?
a cup of salat fullfiled with pork&beef minced meet , plus extra corn , double cheese of cracked old gouda , bread with herbs overall mustard-juice ...so for me it doesn't matter if you drive in the rain 😁 dry or wet you are my idols 🥱
