Maybe someday KTM will have a fork as good as the KYB's? Every year the ktm guys get all excited about new forks, but KYB's have been awesome for yamaha since 2006! I've done nothing the the forks on my new Sherco 300 SE Factory except adjust the clickers, and they've been perfect for me. The fact that I weigh 200lbs might have something to do with it though.
The old bladder forks with a revalve are just as good potentially better because the bladder is less stiff than the ics system, ktms valving is always trash lmao
The suspension on my 2022 WR450F sucks. Way too over-sprung and damped from the factory. I'm 95kg and only using about a third of the stroke and that's with wheelies.
@@6Twisted I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that the 22 WR 450 suspension was shit. I'm 250 pounds and yet it was not rideable in stock form. It was like a pogo stick.
Another DBC Video where he bangs on about how good KTM is. Yet they are 10 years behind on suspension and handling They've only updated the suspension because brands like Sherco have forced them to
From 2010 til 2019 if the carb is jetted properly those KTM 300xc & 250-300xc-w's ran so ,so sweet! They were powerful, had loads of torque, and handled well off-road. The original TPI was just ok now the newer 23 & 24 models with TBI especially the 300xc's are at the top of the 250cc. & 300cc. 2-stroke world. The older ones from 2010 to 19 ran almost like a 4- stroke if they were carbureted.
Just found out KTM is owned by Baja 300 Austrian technicians laid off what the heck is going on? We are told by actual KTM technician they would not touch a KTM anymore with your 10-ft pole KTMs 300 are blowing cylinders off or 2024 Husqvarna was leaking oil so bad out of the shift seal they replaced it twice now. Is this true? Please tell what you know about this
I feel like people bitch to much about air forks. If professionals can win races with them, the average joe is not going to be that affected. I have a fx 350 and im fine with it and jump the hell out of it with no issues.
Kyle, I can't wait to hear your comparison between the XC and XC-W! I've never liked how the W lacks the snappy power compared to the XC. With both transmissions being the same (supposedly) this year, it should be interesting. I'm also intrigued by the 57hp(XC) vs. 49hp(XC-W) claim. That just seems like way too much power to give up to get a W?
Had the chance to ride a 24 xcw back to back with my 23 xc. Motor on the xc still has more snap, but the xcw is no slouch either, just different and slightly tamer but easier to ride over distance and in technical. I have the 6500 insert on my xc and liked them over the stock xcw, but to be fair the xcw suspension wasn't set up yet. All in all a very nice platform.
@CdnX690 ,Thanks for the info! I'm going to buy a 24, but I'm still not sure of which one. I have a 2022 300xc and just rode a 2024 300xcw. The older XC still has more snap than the new W. I'm leaning towards the XC. If the stator had the same output as the W, I would probably just stick with the XC.
@@happyhollowtales9034 I got lucky and found a '23 xc 300 still in the crate so took the discount and bought the 6500 inserts. I also have a '19 300 xc-w and it was really interesting to ride them back to back. Both have merit. Upcoming hare scramble that is on a ski hill has me thinking I'll run the xc-w. Maybe I'll do a back to back video on the two bikes.
Here's one that few if any consider is when running TuBliss the wheels become way out of balance, this causes the fork and rear shocks shim stack and valving to become outside force interrupted by an on/off fluttering fluid flow through the valving process as the continual rock hits happen the fork oil flow pattern keeps canceling it's self out, there's a lot of fine fork tuning lost by unbalanced wheels~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Braaap!
True for all unbalanced wheels, not just tubliss. Balancing your d bike wheels is so, so important! You are absolutely correct in the description you gave. So easy to do, yet most do not. They will just chalk it up as, your so high.
Kyle, please say what you think of the forks compared to a standard factory KYB you get on , for example, a WR250F or 'better yet, to those of the Beta 300 Racing !!!
Bro I couldn’t ride the previous model because the cockpit I had to get lower pegs !I feel this model is way more open like the Honda and I’m 6’3’’ shows everyone is different
@@lukekelly5115 I don't say this as a bad thing but this guy was a 'suspension nerd' like he did his own valving on things so for him to say that coming from a worked WP-6500 kit and also saying he used to run cone valves said a good bit to me on the new '24 suspension. I think KTM has used mediocre forks over the last few years (I don't mind the AER but not huge on Xplor's) so this is a good move in the right direction.
@@SCakey i do my own stuff too but anyone who races will quickly find something they don't like about the suspension or want it to do something different like I said even with stock sss people still have it revalved
@@lukekelly5115 I hear ya, I spend that money too, I think we're really agreeing here but I'm just saying it's a fairly good suspension from what I hear on these.
The new xact spring fork doesnt hold a candle to 6500s. It shares many components with the old air fork it just uses springs instead of an air chamber.
What made you get it over the XC-W? I have a 300 XCW on order and I also live here in utah but I am wondering if I should have gone with the 250 or the XC because I want to do a lot of riding at the dunes too.
@@justinharmston3868 the riding I do is more cross country. Mixture of 2nd and third gear stuff and some singletrack. I think the XC is more versatile that's all
I have a 23 XC 250 which came with the AER fork. I swapped in the MX Tech Lucky Cartridges (it’s a spring conversion). It’s amazing now and it was only like $1200 for the upgrade
I got a 22 250xc an love it just a weekend warrior! For the average rider TBI not gonna make u a better rider ! My son who’s 17 rides a rebuilt Rm 125 an everyone we ride with push hard to keep up !
Kyle! Comp and rebound work in conjunction with each other. You should know this by now. On this fork it is a one to one ratio. When you open up the comp 4 you have to open up the reb 4. If you don't, the fork will pack and produce a more harsh ride. Owners manual!
Thats complete horse shit. Comp and rebound damping can be adjusted completely independently for each terrain. They do impact each other SLIGHTLY but not much. They dont have to be adjusted together.
Yes.... AND it's not wise to make more than one adjustment at a time. YOU should know this by now :). I make comp and reb adjustments independent of one another so that I can actually determine what changes are being made.
Horse s--t! Hmm ok. Yes, you can adjust comp and reb independently. You can do whatever you please. I completely disagree, they do impact each other HUGELY! What i do know after 48yrs of riding moto, enduro and tuning susp. Is that both circuits affect one another. I would just suggest, Kyle, that you try what the Wp factory recommends. Just try it. BTW,I have watched you're vids from day one and will continue to do so. Quality entertainment for the d bike junkie. Just try it! One for one!
