The Boston 9 is/was an even nicer, more refined shoe than the SL20-either version. Though of course we’re all different and for some people the SL20 fit was better. For me, the Boston 8 and especially 9 were Goldilocks shoes so I’m sad they’re taking a huge departure with the upcoming Boston 10. Fortunately I’ve stocked up on Boston 9’s, on sale.

Nike Invicibles... they look like Sorel's and are reputedly just as warm!

You just have to move to Singapore! (Although they sold out of the V2 here before I pressed the buy button)

The More V3 runs just as warm or warmer than the Invincibles...

I second the Nike invincible, they are the hottest running shoes I’ve tried. Also having breathable upper might not be all bad for winter. If you’ve run in shoes with not so breathable uppers (e.g. basketball shoes) you’d know how much condensation you get in the shoes. I’d rather feel cold in breathable shoes than freezing in soaked shoes.

Not sure i can really speak for heel strikers here, but I can’t imagine you’d have a problem with this shoe. The midfoot feel is very different in both shoes. RC Elite is extremely bouncy and propulsive. I’d say they both have a similar amount of width in the midfoot

it might still work for you! you never know! hard for me to say which i like better at this moment. im leaning towards the rc elite 2

If you love the fuel cell in the rebels, you’ll love the RC Elite. I suggest giving those a try

I meant mostly the lack of cushioning/the sizing issues I experienced with this shoe. Yes, my overall pace was 7:24/mi

But lower drop off and wider platform and not as aggressive rocker than V1 which makes it more stable for some people's biomechanics.

It’s a bit wider so it’s more stable for me. Still a very neutral shoe though

It’s sort of in the middle when it comes to stability. I’d say it’s more stable than the novablast

If not the carbon plate, I think the nylon plate of the Endorphin Speed could be good for runners of any level regardless of the type of effort. In alot of cases, because of the soft responsive foam with added stack hieght, the plate adds more towards stability than performance. More elite runners with great form and high cadence could benefit from both.

@@jefreywith1f924 Never understood the whole "carbon plate is for elites" nonsense. Very VERY few people are "elite" runners. If carbon plates were only designed for and beneficial to "elite" runners, then none of the companies would make any money making them...which obviously isn't the case.

Yeah most companies seems to be selling their top end carbon plated racers at about the same price as the Vaporfly now. When you get into pricing across different places in the world it gets complicated. As far as I can tell Nike being the largest most global brand tends to try and keep their pricing similar across all regions (i.e you can take they American list price and multiple it by the exchange rate for a given regions currency and get something close to what it sells for there, obviously things like taxes, and tariffs are going to move the numbers a bit). With the smaller brands the prices vary more across regions and in particular for smaller regions they seem tend to have more of a price premium presumably because the fixed cost of doing business in that area vs how relatively few shoes they sell in the area means they want to recoup more back per shoe sold (of course pricing them higher vs a brand like Nike that has good distribution and mind share amongst the general public means they’re likely to continue to sell in lower volumes). I live in Canada so we’re pretty lucky that even though we’re a small market being right next to the US means that most brands here sell their shoes at more or less the equivalent of their US price (Skechers being a big exception where they cost way more than they do in the US).

@@arowden I'm confused. I'm not Canadian, but most Canadians like the ones on youtube would tell you running shoes in Canada are more expensive than US prices. I've read as much as 36% higher.

@@jefreywith1f924 Well to give you a couple of examples off the top of my head. The VaporFly Next% costs $330 CAD which works out to $272 USD, but the currency exchange rates obviously fluctuate and last spring the USD was higher relative CAD and that $330 CAD worked out to about $235 USD. As another example the Mach 4 is $160 which works out to about $132 USD. So the retail price of a shoe in Canada is usually pretty close to the equivalent US price. Some brands like New Balance and Brooks seems to add a bit of a premium to their CAD prices, but I don't think it's more than 10%. Skechers is brutal though. They seem to have poor distribution almost every outside the US so in most countries you can even readily get their performance line and in Canada you can, but really just direct from Skechers Canada and at a huge mark up over their US prices (never seen an independent retailer sell them here). If you want something like the Razor in Canada you're better off waiting until it goes on sale at a place like Running Warehouse at which point it will be cheaper to buy that way even with shipping and import duties.

@@arowden For somebody who loves running shoes and thinks they're to expensive. I have nothing to complain about. I'm sorry. If I lived anywhere near the border I would certainly help you out. I'm not sure what the duty fees are but they have to be cheaper than the distribution fees and exchange rates. But with Covid, I'm not even sure what the traveling restrictions are at this time.

I meant for me personally. This is certainly made for marathons. Just not sure it would be MY marathon shoe
