Lovely to see your new boat purring along. In a future episode do we get to see you adding more of an enclosure? My boat yard was very slow to get my new boat ready so there was no week of testing -- it was 13 hours to Onset arriving against the current in the canal and after sunset. Fun to anchor for the first time in the dark! I've spent 45 minutes to an hour "leaving" Solomons Island only to discover it was too rough and turning back. It's so well protected in there.
We are planning a full enclosure for the Tartan but it won’t be before next summer. We will be replacing all of the cockpit canvas (dodger, Bimini sunshades…) when we tackle a bunch of projects next summer! Yikes!! The canal with current against is no joke, I couldn’t imagine it with a brand new boat! The Chesapeake can be sneaky like that! In the creeks and rivers it is sooooo protected, but the bay stacks up so quickly in winds 15+! We’ve gotten our butts kicked on more than one occasion! 😂
Thank you so much for wanting to support us! We do not currently have a patreon account but it is actually on my to-do list for this week! It should be up and running by the end of the year! Again thank you for wanting to support us! ☺️
Hey guys, are you past Great Bridge in Chesapeake VA yet? You guys are living my dream and if love to take you two out to dinner or drinks and pick your brain of you're not south of me yet.
Our videos are always a few weeks behind us in real life, we are currently in Florida! But we will be back in the Chesapeake next summer! Maybe we will see you around!
How are you getting along with your T37. Spacious enough for 2 or 3. I've seen the 37 criticized with regard to newer boats. Certainly hope your enjoying it.
14 months in and we LOVE it. She is fast and an absolute joy to sail. There is plenty of space for two people, three might be a little tight if it were full time. I’m regularly astounded by the amount of stuff (food, spares, gear etc) I can fit onboard. I think you can’t compare apples to oranges. And a lot of times your budget will dictate what’s available to you for choices. For us to find a newer boat at the same price point we would not have had nearly as well built or well outfitted boat and likely would have had a lot of work to do. Versus being able to leave 10 days after buying our T37. If you have a bigger budget there are a ton of great newer boats out there too and almost all newer boats of the same length will have more interior space. It’s just how boat design has evolved over the last 30th years. But for a 1980s vintage vessel the T37 is massive space wise. Hope that helps!
