First Snow of the Season in the Sierra Mountains!

I'm camped up in the Sierra Nevada's in California, just south of Lake Tahoe. Such a beautiful place!
I do a short walk through this beautiful meadow I'm camped beside. The Kit Carson river runs through the valley and it is surrounded by snow capped peaks. There are many things named after Kit Carson here so obviously he played big part of the history of this area.
I recently had oral surgery for the third time in as many months. Really frustrating as it was supposed to be a one time thing. But I'm on the mend and hoping I don't have to do an more for awhile.

What a pleasure to see you! You’re one of those people who has found your way into our hearts. Funny how that happens! I see a lot of camping videos, but yours are the best! I bought a Tab400 when I couldn’t find a Casita. I live in Michigan. I suppose I’d feel better if I lived out West, but I’m afraid to go out alone, like you do and I even carry a pistol! Someone else comment about crazy people. I never used to fear anyone, until this year, when I turned 70. How do you do it? Do you live near the parks you go to and take short trips? I couldn’t wait to travel like you do, but now I’ve had second thoughts.

Don't let her fool you , she does have a lady friend as a travel companion . No its not a good idea to go out alone like that. The world changed or I changed. I use to go out camping and stuff alone , all the time and thought nothing of it , until one day, I'm just too scared to do it anymore since I have gotten a little older. Im 63 but stopped at 60. Sure do miss it

A few years ago this time of year, we were camping in Yosemite Valley. The day after we got there it started to rain. It rained for two and a half days. Then it changed to snow around noon. At about 5 PM, the clouds parted, the sun broke through and lit up Half Dome. It was a sight worth suffering through all that rain! Those mountains can be breathtaking! ❤️ Girlfriend....I've been missing you!!! I had a dental cleaning about 3 weeks ago. And the chickiepoo that worked on me looked just like you. I felt like we were spending some time together. But alas no. This be the real you. I'm so glad that mouth crap is behind you (at least the stuff you've already been thru. Hopefully there is light at the end of that tunnel for you. I hate dental work. They have to gas me up really good or else I'm a real whiner. Nobody likes a whiner! Super great to hear from you and thanks for the update! ❤️

HI Bex, it was great to wake up to a video from you. Love your camp spot! I, too, suffered with dental problems this past year (extracted tooth and subsequent nerve damage in my jaw), so I relate to yours. Healing takes so long....it gets discouraging. But eventually, it will heal. Hang in there.

I camped at Medicine Lake Calif. 1.5 weeks ago, beautiful, but 17° at night. Rain/snow was predicted 2 days later and I hi-tailed it outta there...I'm not as brave as you. Your meadow and mountains are soothingly beautiful.

Hope Valley is one of the last places I haven't camped in, you think being a 3rd. generation Californian, I would have been everywhere, but there is always more to see and explore. Sista, I feel your pain, been down that road a couple of time, fortunately everything healed and the procedure was a success in building up my receding gum lines. Glad you are seeing some beautiful sites and the fall colors. Thanks again Bex for sharing your life and adventures.

Wonderful video. Love the mountain snow pics. I think you are awesome & I love your videos.You are a breath of fresh air!! Some advice for the gas burner flambe: poke the flambe holes with a pin to clean them. I have had to do that to mine. Worked good for me. Good luck with your dental issues.

Wonderful to catch up with you, and sorry for your dental conundrum. Where you are in this video is gorgeous! Perhaps get a jetboil as a backup for boiling water (yes, with an adapter you should be able to use the same propane bottles as your stove). Thank you as always for your wonderful vlog.

Hope you get to feeling healthier in your mouth soon! I'm going through similar but without the grafting. I have also found when temps get too low my propane won't work correctly, so that might have been part of the problem with the burner. Always happy to get caught up with you and your travels.

I've been wondering about you! Good to see you! Rincinol mouthwash is great for gum pain, so are cloves. Your oral surgeon may have samples of the Rincinol.

My dentist did give me a rinse to use. It does help a little but the pain killer pills are the best. :-)

Try to tighten the propane connection. Check the flame. If it’s still lopsided, undo the propane and then screw it back on and check the flame again. Good luck.

Ouch 😣 Sorry to hear about your ongoing gum reconstruction surgery. Such a beautiful secluded campsite you’re nestled into. Wonder if you had turned your camp stove with the back lid blocking the wind possibly the water might have boiled. Whenever my flame doesn’t fully expand I turn the burner off and attempt to relight along the problem area.

We are at about 1000 ft. here in the Okanagan, and almost 1000 mi. north of where you are and we don't get snow this early hardly ever...none yet. Come visit; I'm buying at the local McDonalds! Cheers!
