Casey Putsch and Genius Garage students have been working on the 1989 IMSA GTO Corvette to get it ready for a race with the VSCDA in Grattan, Michigan. They discovered an unexpected problem minutes before loading to take the car testing and had to alter their plans to make best use of time.

You should fly over!!!! Land at Detroit, DTW, and then get to Grand Rapids, GRR, or straight to GRR if you can get it. The Grattan Raceway is about 40 minutes from the airport and there are several hotels in the area. How cool would that be?

@@hilanddoug I would love that always wanted to go to the US and meet some friends there but unfortunately I have college commitments and I might do a trip in the Future as soon as I can afford it but that would be amazing

Grafton is a great track. Between the 2 yumps one almost jump 2 throw away turns 2 lakes and the all important toilet bowl turn. Absolutely love that track

I'll second that request! I'd like to see a few hour road trip out and back just to burn fuel with all the extra aero junk on the car for maximum effort, like the wheel fairings and such.

And still took a podium finish both days! Bronze on day 1 and silver day 2! Not too shabby for a bunch of kids with a forty-sumthin' mentor as a driver who only gets to drive a few times a year. In an OLD car that takes a lot of love. You know those students busted @$$ on that car to take podium finishes. Let's hope this group of students can do the same at Grattan Raceway!

You put up with the HEAT to get this unique driving experience / performance which IS the best experience that is on offer from all the manufacturers. For example the BMW experience IS the fastest lap but it's SO safe everywhere on the track it seems boring. Ferrari makes the driver WAIT ✋️ until the car reaches the straight track. Which is very frustrating 😕 Chevrolet is at HALF THROTTLE, MID CORNER. FORD IS AT half throttle 2/3 of the way round a corner. It's LESS FUN than Chevrolet. Give yourself a water suit under your racing suit, like astronaut's have.

You POINT THAT ENGINE into the corners where YOU want to go, and THEN YOU GET TO USE the accelerator. Other cars and other races 🏁 can be all about the gears ⚙️ and nothing to do with the accelerator pedal. You really don't understand what you've got. You really are just beginning to understand piston ratios as a driving limiter. You understand the mathematics but you don't understand how it influences driving.

I appreciate your thought and a cool suit would help, but I have to ask. Have you ever driven any of the cars you speak on of track? Those are very blanket statements and our Corvette only possesses the taillights from a Corvette.
