My guess why they painted them, because actual purple plastics are impossible to find. Its like the only color that isnt sold normally along with all the other colors.
@@zachthericer3379 I think it’s easy just post share and get the followers to subscriber and let that RU-vid money build all this with there money and out support.. kinda like a sponsor 😉
If you set up a big tarp outside as a backsplash then power wash the bubbling paint off plastics it might take 20 min instead of hours with scraper... nice commitment to the project tho ...aint nothing you cant fix these days
All that dirt and filth drives me nuts, it's all apart might as well clean it to new condition as much as possible. Cheap eBay steam cleaner works wonders.
Never assume the shim sizes from a selection box are marked up correctly. Allways measure the shims before fitting. And check shim clearance with cams fully torqued down. Love your videos and keep up the hard work....
Funny, we are talking about how similar you are to us with the valve adjustment issues. About 90% of the 4 strokes that come in have valve clearance issues. You do a great job, informal training OJT is a good thing for all of us, you included. Another great video. Keep killing it, Joe. Great job!
quick tip for anyone getting paint off plastics. after using the paint remover, you can use a pressure washer to spray off the paint instead of using a scrape!! 👍👍❤❤
i have one good lifehack for u :), always put silicone spray on the plastics when ur done cleaning them, it will make them look new and shine like crazy
I think you got a good buy... After reshimming I always re-time and then rotate the engine a few times just to get everything seating before re-measure. Also torque the cam tower before measuring, it will change the adjustment just slightly. Otherwise great vid man, just wanted to pass some advice on for your future jobs.
Some things you can go check on it. It’s got a aftermarket exhaust so you gotta re-jet it check the jets if they are stock. But an air filter on maybe it’s getting too much air. And the crackling noise you heard from the exhaust is just the metal cooling of because it’s hot. But nice quad always loved it.
Bad ass vids man! My passion is fixing quads also! Awesome how u took the time to clean everything up and make it shine! Keep making bad ass vids! Just send it
I would turn idle up a bit. If it seems to be hanging up after you rev it (idles stay high for a little before dropping) your pilot circuit is too lean, richen it up by adjusting pilot screw. It did seem lean as I seen the header starting to get red when you were first Reving it. Hope this helps!
Hey Joe if you let the paint stripper sit like that wrapping in in Saran Wrap after laying it on heavy puts in work! Also if you can put them in a warm area but know it stinks. Good work bro
Cleanliness helps ten fold when working on things, take your stuff out and pressure wash it or garden hose and brush it before you tear it apart, I’m pretty sure any little dust and grime is way larger than the .0020-.0025 bearing clearances in those motors considering a hair is .06... just my two cents tho, still like the vids and content
Another entertaining video. And good luck on your sales on the tecate and the cr250 👍💯. I noticed them posted up for sale and figured it must be your quad and dirt bike, since those tecate are rare and rarely seen.
@@mikeschlup5279 id say just rejet the pilot and leave the fuel screw at the factory position. or maybe move the needle up 1 and leave the jetting if possible
you have inspired me into doing dirtbike and quad rebuilds as well, i have a cheap gio pitbike and a 09 yz85. i was into cars and dirtbikes before and i know alot about them but never acted on my hobbie\skill now i am hoping to finish grade 12 go back to school for a small engine mechanic and open a dirtbike dealer/repare shop.love your vids keep going with them.
Take some polish and a buffer and buff those plastics out and it will look brand new and also try out some maxima sc1, I spray it on my whole quad it makes it look brand new
If you give the coolant temp wire a ground the fan should come on with motor running For a fast check. Then you can ome out the temp sensor to check it to see if its good or bad.
Not even gonna lie I’m really starting to like your videos you do what I wanna do every day and this will be the closest thing to it. I work on toys all the time i love picking up tips and pointers to help me in my work spot.
If this engine uses the same valves as the CRF, you will probably need to replace the inlet valves. The oem titanium valves are sensitive for wear. If the clearance is very tight, the valves are probably worn out.
In one of the clips the pipe looks a little red, might need to check jets or accelerator pump if it has one, might be too lean. Also find out what the rattle is,it makes it sound bad
Next time try klean strip quick strip I like it better than the citri strip. I think it works faster and less messy. It comes in an aerosol can usually around $10 a can. Let me know what u think!
Hey joe- ur gettn sooo much better at wrenchin! Good job! Also- someone in comments said the CR250 n Tecate are 4 sale???? Where r they posted???😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Being a mechanic you should think about wearing a silicone ring so it doesn't short out on anything. I don't wear mine while working anymore since my buddy lost his finger because of it!!
Hi there, I’ve got a 1988 cr125 and was wondering if 1985 side radiator shrouds would fit on it? The shrouds from each year look identical to me. I know it’s a very specific question lol but I’ve seen you work on a lot of older cr’s so thought I’d ask
Keeps shutting off without the fuel tank on it and you said you can’t figure out why, it’s pretty crazy what happens to things when they run out of fuel Joseph
