Hi mate, I had a poulan PN4218 since 2009 (2009 model) and I always run 40:1 in it. Good saws to own never had a problem with it and I found running them at 40:1 and let it warm up for 30 seconds (idling) saves alot of cost in the long run. Still like it as much as my two Sithls (661cmz) & (ms880) aswell as my homelite 55 super wiz. I've cut alot of wood and I mean a lot.
Paulon makes a good saw for the money.. As long as its used properly and minor adjustments are made when needed its a good saw. No need to spend $1200 for a saw that is rarely used. Good video..
I’ve had great luck with Poulan chainsaws. I liked the 4218 so much, I bought a second one for $100 at a tractor supply the very next year on Black Friday. I figured whenever I wear it out, it is still cheaper than buying parts or paying for repairs. Poulan is actually owned by Husqvarna. The price has went up to $120 at tractor supply last year, but that is still a great deal for how well it works.
Go ahead and use the 40:1 you use on your weed-eater. It won't hurt the saw at all...just a little bit of smoke burning the extra oil. That way you only have one can/one mix to keep up with.
I fully get what your saying about other channels getting free stuff. I'm totally against getting something if I didnt earn it. However at least some of the channels I really like that are doing that stuff have thousands of subscribers. So a company giving them something to use and review is actually good business. I've learned more from youtubers giving honest reviews then I'd learn any other way about products. And usually those same youtubers or at least the ones I watch do giveaways after they are done reviewing the products. So I see it totally different. They are simply using their RU-vid platform to help inform others.
I fully agree with that. I have done a few myself on products I've been sent for that purpose. My gripe are the ones that encourage their subscribers to send them things they want, and then make other subs feel bad for not being able to send things.
@@StBernardAcres I agree. Thankfully the ones I watch dont do that. However I've seen a few videos of other channels that have and I agree that isnt right.
I ran into something like your chainsaw, last year for Black Friday I replaced my vehicle. Got a great deal on the new car, and it was Black Friday so I got a free TV with it. I didn't need the TV, so sold it to a friend at work for a great price. It's good karma to spread the good fortune around when we can. I agree about people asking for free stuff. Getting a product in exchange for an honest review is one thing. "E-begging" is another thing altogether. I'm glad you were able to get a good deal on the saw, it will be good to have a reliable one for the Acres. Linda and I send our best, and here's hoping you and Gail have a happy and prosperous 2020.
Good video, I've watched a few videos about this saw because I plan on buying one this weekend from Harbor Freight. So far your review has been the best. I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on a saw I probably will only use twice a year! Thanks for your honest review.
Hi guys I bought a pr4218 about a year ago yesterday I worked it hard had issues with cutting a STRAIGHT line and I noticed the bar looks like it curves to the left didn't notice before does yours do the same I don't really want to buy a bar if I dont have to thanks
Just bought one today and it will NOT start. Checked plug gap and set it to .025 ( it was at .020 from factory). Primer bulb fills, pulls easy, refuses to start. Help!
Cranking any saw pull choke all the way pump bubble a couple hits then pull the rope until the engine pops then push the choke all the way in it's set at half choke automatically until u mash the throttle then removing it self from half choke high idle if you do this the poulan is a decent saw. Lots of people just don't know how to crank saws
took my grandads Poulan out of shed today had not been used in four years. filled it up with gas, it started immediately and I was cutting firewood within 10 minutes of taking out of storage, latter in day my brand stihl blower would not start.
😳My shoulder immediately started to hurt just looking at all those pulls to get it started. Was seriously considering this Chainsaw but not anymore, it 100% scared me away.
You know them other channels that get stuff sent to them for free ain't giving you an honest review there gonna say they like it even if it's junk because they don't wanna stop getting free stuff lol
