Nice test.😃. Each marker likes diffrent ammo and ammo-weight. It also seems to depend on what power output you choose and if you use HPA or CO2. Cheers 😃

Yes a whole other chapter. I bet if i redid this test with 1100 or co2 my results would be different again only proving whats good for one isnt good for all.

The 9.9s were impressive and very nice fit in that barrel. I put some 4.4 gram homewrecker balls in my m17 the other day and believe they had similar results to 8gram jul v2 due to the higher fps.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies Год назад
Perfect example if i could have showed similar. I would choose a higher fps but only if it proved the same energy. No one wants to take a loss unless they have a set energy in mind but for me its what performs more effectively and then you can tune up/down from there.

what I learned for the Rittenhouse trial is, it doesn't matter what ammo you use, the DA will use it against you.

Until we see more cases of LL use in the hands of civilians i will reserve judgment but your example is valid. DA will be DA.

I bet inertia plays a big role. Getting a 20g ball moving takes energy. 5" is a short runway for a heavy load. Striking a target, the 9.9 has the balance of quicker acceleration and has more inertia to carry to the target than the light rounds. Light rounds can get up and dance quicker, but carry less pan-puncturing inertia. The 20g might like a longer barrel, to have a longer runway to accelerate. F=ma, the a, likes long barrels. Especially with large m. FPS vs mass. 10% increase in mass= 10% energy increase. 10% fps gain = 21% energy increase. Like you stated, each marker setup and projectile combination will find the ideal balance to be the most potent at the business end. I liked the test. Always do. Test makes best.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies Год назад
💯 but i am measuring energy at the muzzle and not the target so your statement should hold true for the 20g but….. If the light round likes to dance it should have showed higher muzzle energy then say the 9.9g and less target energy. It demonstrated only one of those attributes. So much to ponder. I can say for whatever reason 8-10g has always churned out the best results so there is something there for sure.
@JohnWixon
@JohnWixon Год назад
The light round did show higher velocity at muzzle >500 fps. That's the acceleration portion. Also, did show less target energy as it didn't penetrate the pan like 9.9, even at higher muzzle velocity.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies Год назад
@@JohnWixon it was higher but not in comparison to its heavier brother the 9.9. In theory the 3.7 should have left much faster like in the 530fps range. I might be explaining it wrong. My take is all being equal the bore and the barrel the two CRB rounds should have left equivalent respectively 9.9 at 324 and 3.7 at 530 only showing the difference in weight upon impact. Instead the 3.7 left the barrel faster but with measured less energy (joule).
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies Год назад
@@JohnWixon My though is the bolt closed faster on the lighter rounds due to less compression which offered less air to accelerate the round the same as the 9.9.

Home defense complete!!! Want a FSC for van & camping with air chamber extension! 6inc grimburg and psv delete and a hpd do 50 for concealed carry with east coast detent!! Milsig bolt seal and zram chamber extension!! And that lot will end up maybe $1000+ can't believe how much stuff you have 👍 I've learnt so much watching your videos!!! SO THANK YOU 👍

Too much thinking. It really brings to light your marker is what you make it and not what its advertised to be unless specified with a specific projectile and power in mind.

What are your feelings about the lapco with freak inserts for the fsc or should I buy the nemesis?? Also is it worth buying the 16g mag? Sorry for all the question's but I like thatyou'rer not selling anything
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 2 месяца назад
I like the Lapco Freak because it lets you interchange bore easily. It doesnt produce the highest numbers compared to a barrel with one given bore. I would avoid rifled barrels when searching for the most power. The Nemesis is a quality barrel but its rifling will reduce velocity. Many argue rifling adds accuracy but within 20ft you wont ever really reap those rewards.
@jerimycarter7490
@jerimycarter7490 11 месяцев назад
The lighter ball has less inertia therfore less joules. There happens to be a sweet spot with projectile weight x propellant .
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
Upon impact the lighter balls do carry less energy into the target and are also more susceptible to loss due to air resistance but measured at the muzzle the ft/lbs is generally equal to the heavier balls. Its what it does at the other end that counts. Agree that heavier projectiles ate better but some markers just dont like them so thats where I end up.

Sean I remember watching a programme on the car that goes 300mph and was talking about the physics at that speed is like driving through sponge cake vs the atmosphere of the planet!! And was thinking myself how can perfect match to barrel and 1/2 the weight go slower for 8joules loss!! And just theory that maybe a heavy projectile cuts through the so called sponge cake at that speed?????? Bugatti veron was the car??????? Don't make sense 👍
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 6 месяцев назад
Light projectiles move so much faster and are gone from the barrel before they harness all the energy from the valve.

The steel ball bearings are just too heavy for the system (its way heavier than a 44 magnum). Weight rules up a zenith, then, performance starts to drop. It's a Goldie locks and the three bears sort of thing. The 3.7g riot balls are too light. I would be curious about 7.5g aluminum vs 9.9g PVC Steel. You show up in court after having shot someone in the head with the steel ball bearings .. do not stop at go, go straight to jail. If your state is tolerant, then a civil case will follow. Experimenting is in your blood. Keep it up.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
Great analogy 🐻 🐻 🐻. These heavy steel balls also wreak havoc on your marker. They transfer too much energy back into what is in reality a paintball marker. Legal ramifications will always be the end users choice.

Hello Shaun bro is there Any chance that i could ask you some questions?? My m17 is running on 1100psi output and i did the regulator drill today and it got on full auto itself it scared the heck out of me do you know why it did that? I have never touched the trigger adjustment or i havent shear the shim can you please help me out 🙏🩵
@international187

First i tested it with 1400psi left in the bottle and everything Was okey but then i refill my bottle 13ci 3000psi and it just did the full auto 😩
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies Год назад
Only few of ways around it now. Two are band aids really. You can reduced your bottle pressure down to 800, add a some more rubber bolt bumpers. The best is pick up a new stronger bolt spring. The factory bolt spring in just not strong enough for the new found air flow. How many bumpers are you running currently?
@international187
@international187 Год назад
I am running 3 bumpers in total like i always have... and just before the regulator drill i Was getting 68 Joules without Any problems but today i did the regulator drill as you showed in your video and the auto fire happend i have never experince autofire before ?
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies Год назад
@@international187 problem with drilling the regulator is once you do it there is no turning back. Modding your markers is always at your own risk. You can add up to approximately 6 bumpers to see if that alleviates the autofire by preloading the bolt spring. You can reduce your tank pressure to 800psi. Could even buy a new regulator and pretend like it never happened. Or upgrade your bolts spring and since there are no better commercially available methods to do this currently i suggest the inexpensive spring combination of Fsc & Tipx i use from my other video.

pegalim swing effect? Maybe needs 3 chrono to find science... 😅 lol.. at release, center of flight and at impact point. Then u can see what is really happening to each weight as the resistance in flight vs the individiual weight may make the biggest difference of overall damage or so called effect. Or just go with shaped projectiles like a dk round and call it done on damage... 👍😜

I am accepting offers of chronographs to be sent to me 😂. You are right tho to see the entire story i need to be measuring velocities at different intervals.
@felipenavas
@felipenavas 3 месяца назад
You are wrong. Destruction equals energy. If both projectiles are fired with the same energy, the heavier projectile will be slower and the lighter one will be faster at the same energy. Due to the air friction formula, the faster projectile will lose speed faster and therefore lose energy faster.
@felipenavas
@felipenavas 3 месяца назад
In your test this didn't happen because the distance is small so you're talking about a loss in the order of 1J vs 2J after 30ft. The greatest destruction was in this case due to 39J vs 47J.

100 % Speed does matter Watch Scotts video ( Kentucky balistics ) on when does a bullet become lethal . ITS ABOUT A YEAR OLD.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 2 месяца назад
Remember i am trying to be less lethal with no penetration. Speed, mass, caliber all play a part in less lethal. Lightweight, large caliber with speed unlikely to penetrate. Lightweight, small caliber with speed likely to penetrate. Big heavy and not too slow dumps tons of energy without penetration. Big heavy and fast…..death. I could go on and on but in the end its your choice what you need/want and i won’t argue with that.
