I think about my beautiful grandson who could have been aborted because of his special needs. Yes it’s difficult, it’s sad at times but Jesus has given us a part of Him, such amazing grace.
i asked my mom if she wanted to join me for this mass, & at first she said no. but a few minutes later, she just walked into my bedroom & saint down. she sat through the homily & the Eucharist w/ me. thank you Lord for pulling in my mom
WOW, Father Mike! Another great homily. Yes, reality can sometimes be hard to accept, but if it is God's will, then the grace for acceptance can make it easier to handle. Help me with that Lord. I need acceptance to the reality in my life.
I made it to Mass, in person, again! Second Sunday in a row! I went to the bilingual Mass in the neighborhood where the homeless shelters are, in the city I moved to in June. Prayers, prayers and more prayers for the people who were handed letters which said that we need to find housing or other alternatives by May 1st. None of us want to die out there, with no place to stay. Reality is that life is scary sometimes. Not having stable housing is scary. God has a plan for me, and everyone who is in the same circumstance that I am. Everything works out for those who trust in Him.

@dan69052 Who said anything about being gay? I am just excited that my schedule includes being able to attend Mass in person. I'm not a gay person. I'm a heterosexual female person. I'm attracted to men. I would be grateful if God blessed me with a man who appreciates the tradition of the Catholic Church as much as me. No offense, but if people are being hurtful or harmful to anyone, regarding age, race, religion, sexual orientation, and you are being faced with eviction, even if it's a sheltered environment, it's against the law. That's what I am facing, along with several others based on my work. And that's extraordinarily unfair. For all of us.
It's refreshing to hear, to have affirmed, that "expectations are a killer of joy". We can't enjoy the moment, be in the moment, if our expectations are one way and fall short.

I expected a life with my wife to always be easy and fun; the same way we fell in love and were blessed with three wonderful children. Sixty years later I find myself caring for my best friend now suffering from late stage Alzheimer’s. God’s will -certainly not mine. Cross accepted!
My father raised seven kids and attended Mass more than a priest. Did not make the time to express my love for him. He is in heaven and will see him again.
Thank you for this gift. Tgese Masses were my go to during covid. Was happy yo be back in person with sacramental communion. "Expectations are a killer of joy," Father Mike says. TRUTH. I learned years ago not to expect people to do what I wanted and then I wouldn't be disappointed. We all whine and feel self pity when things don't turn out the way we want. Accepting reality isn't common these days, as so many choose to medicate themselves and create a fantasy instead, rejecting reality and God's will. I pray for those who are confused and unable to accept reality in their lives. God bless Ascension, the Front Pew Crew, Father Mike, and all watching this mass! Amen.

This homily is so on point!! Yes yes yes expectations is a joy thief!!! You are dead on with that statement and I believe it with my whole heart! I once had someone tell me that God restores all that the enemy has stolen from you, so there I was in total expectation and nothing! Years I suffered over this and the roller coaster ride my faith took! It must have been a very well intentioned Christian, God Love them, but now I’m back in reality no longer waiting and just expecting.
The Holy Scriptures and the Church teach us that we ought to expect our all loving Heavenly Father WILL answer all of His beloved children's prayers based on His imaginable deep love for us, by His awesome ways, in His perfect timing and according to His infinite wisdom. His blessings are always way superior to our own expectations.
Sometimes, I hate saying "Yes" to reality. I have become grumpier and grumpier as a teacher because my students do not know what they need to know before they ever get to my classes. I know God wants me to accept my students as individual human being, but I get blocked by old educational expectations. I needed your sermon today, Father.
