I don't eat sushi, but I thought I'd give it a try since I've been to Japan a few times already. I met up with my friend John from "Only in Japan" so he can show me what sushi is all about. I have to say I liked the tuna a lot! With his help, I had a great and fun experience at Sushizanmai.

terry_r3d raw steak can be eaten raw since usually cows are only fed naturally through grass and beer and don’t accumulate any major bacteria. So you can eat raw beef.

we used to go scuba diving for the sea urchin. make a pot of rice and eat it at the camp site. The best is buttery and nutty, but with the taste of the sea and a very slight bitterness that is barely there. They are still alive and fresh just before you crack it open and scoop the roe /gonads out!

For me the first time i had sushi i was more focused on the experience and the idea i was eating raw food and i missed out on the flavor somewhat . The second time was freaking heaven. That was 20 years ago and i am totally addicted :P

Oh, I read that wrong. I thought you said, "I never had sushi. I never will eat sushi." I was going to respond, "good, now there's more for me." My dad always said that when would turn my nose up at some food. I always thought that was a funny thing to say, but it made me wonder what was I missing, so I would try it.

It's OK and actually much cooler to eat sushi with your fingers than with hashi. Hot towel is there to clean your hands.

Mike! How can you live in Japan for a month and not try sushi! I'm so glad you had a great experience with it, Sushi really is wonderful. I've grown to like it, living here in Vancouver, which I've heard it argued has some of the best sushi in the world. I'm also really happy to see John with you. I love his channel as well. The reason you don’t put sushi out on the counter for a long time is because after 10-15 seconds the freshness goes away. And also I’d recommend eating sushi with your hands cause you get know the temperature of the sushi which makes it taste better

its not the freshness itself but to eat the sushi at the optimal timing in terms of temp of the shari and neta combined..e.g. if the shari is warm (which it should be) then waiting too long will affect the condition of the neta and thus its flavour.

In my experience, when you eay lemon slices on sushi, the thinner the better. A thick cut will add bitterness to it, where I've also had some slices that were almost translucent. It added the lemon flavor and texture without being bitter. The chef might've shaved away the rind as well though, but I still reccomend trying it.
