No, not at all - this design is spot on(1). Almost perfect match I guess, for the all new chinese millionaires, age 32 plus and their beloved wifes. (They own two, one each. Color? Maybe different.)(2, 3) And I am pretty shure we all and America will have to learn to live with it. There is no way this will not happen and stay. (Even Mercedes silver arrows have been there before and after WW2. China will not go away and China knows what it wants, 'capitalism, cars and success for everyone'.) 1 - We like it or not. But BMW did a brilliant job again, it's a second guess success design definitivly! (Even more, it's a 'continents tast transferer': As a US Millionaire I don't want to come second. See, China and BWM do lead the US already today. Because it's more fun to compete.😊) 2 - And all of their Kids will all drive their BMW's a little later too. 3 - They don't print, but they work hard for the money, so hard for the money ...
I was in shock when I first saw this XM at the auto show in Memphis. I had never heard of this vehicle before then. I wouldn't consider this one unless it was a regular hybrid, not a plugin hybrid. It would be cheaper as a regular hybrid.
The XM Label is quicker than almost every M car out there. It’s actually based on the X7 chassis. You need to drive the Label version. That is significantly faster than this base and gear changes and elec/gas transitions are more refined. The Label 0-60 is quoted as 3.7s, not 3.9s.

It’s a bit annoying watching a review where you’re consistently telling me the car is ugly, when style to a degree is subjective. I don’t t think the car is particularly attractive but the “this is an ugly car” gimmick is too much.
Totally different things. I own both Model 3 Performance and XM. Since I got my XM, I don’t want to drive Tesla anymore. Most people just didn’t know how good the M department had done for this car, but just yelling the weight and look. Heavy is not always a problem when the weight is properly distributed.
And now, BMW builds not the new class. They build "den Barockengel". It is the new 501/502 class from the 1950s. They are very traditionell😂. But People are so mad, thy will buy these monster cars.
To the contrary, XM sales have been horrible. They've had to offer massive discounts within a month of launching and they're still piling up on dealer lots.
I’ve owned BMWs since the 1980s and that is the fugliest thing I have ever seen. BMW has totally lost their way. I can’t imagine what sort of posers are actually buying these.
And that’s the crux, it’s ugly even down to the last details. It will be sell like hotcakes. Are notable at any price, cause this car is too much of everything. 😄
The writer is a whiner. I love the design. Once you see the pricetag, you won't buy it if it's not different than the others. I don't think the test driver/writer has a clue.
If I was BMW, I would never let this writer test drive and review another BMW. Wow, I can't believe how the writer just rabid on and on about the vehicle being ugly. That's incredible.
