Wildes nailed it. We shouldn't have to rely on being lucky to not be a victim of a mass shooting. I was at the parade yesterday, and I'm lucky I didn't go to the rally. I have friends who were at the rally and, luckily, they were unharmed. Mass shootings coming down to bad luck is a massive indictment on America and our priorities.

Crime is a problem. The liberals often focus on mass shootings so they can blame gun owners and not the criminals. It's sad that so many fall for that just like Nick Wright.

so what is your fix to the issue? pass gun laws that dont affect criminals at all? i mean everyone wants to blame the guns , but even if guns were gone, people would still find ways to harm others in massive way. cars, bombs, knives, poison, etc. at some point we need to blame the people that are doing these horrific things, not the inanimate objects. why should the 99.9% of people be punished because of the bad 0.01% ? theres 500 million guns in the country, theres no law that will stop mass shootings in the future. how come these sprees of mass shootings didnt happen before 2000 ? its almost like society changed and morals were lost. we need to build the family model back up again, fathers need to be fathers. every mass shooter has a mental problem, we need to work on mental health before anything, because thats where the real change happens. and thats beyond just mass shootings

As a lifelong KCMO resident, thank you. Thank you for being authentic, genuine and transparently empathetic. Our community is hurting right now, and it’s been a heartbreaking week. Two of the victims are relatives of mine. This was their first parade. They will be okay, physically… but mentally and emotionally, they are traumatized. The trauma bounces off the desensitized culture we have here in America, and all three of you gentleman spoke on this from differing perspectives and yet were equally pointed and correct. Our kids deserve better than this.

I was there myself. If I had waited 2 mins to leave. I very well might have been a victim myself. I agree with you, and I see so many people taunting those who are wanting to pray for the victims. Has no one learned anything from this community? We all are Chiefs fans. This team is not only special because of their record. BUT, they bring everyone together, who would otherwise have nothing to do with each other because of religious differences, political differences, and other differences. Let them pray, they may very well agree with better gun laws while they pray. But, be that as it may. I agree with these three gentlemen. Our kids do deserve better. Before this awful shooting I seen so many people coming together, and just wanted to celebrate our team doing great. It was the best experience I had ever had. Until like Nick said. We was robbed. I collected extensive footage from this event. From when I was there at 12am. right up to the last speech given. My phone ran out of juice right before I left. Thank God. Because, I am glad I didn't personally document that awful tragedy. And, that I will be able to hold the more better memories of this event close to my heart. I am a 45 year old male who is still an active athlete and I just cried as I could hear and feel the pain. The easy thing is to place blame on individuals but through his anguish Nick was able to articulate that this has been enabled (or not prevented) via various regulations/laws/practices/culture or lack of regulations etc. Thank you FTF for highlighting this. We shouldn’t have to rely on luck to avoid mass shootings. Nick, I share your outrage and your pain. I fought back tears during your portion. I’m mad for the exact same reason. Beyond mad; it’s rage. Nick...did what I expected him to do. He is raw with emotion. the problem is emotion doesn't allow you to think things thru. Each each millions of Americans experience that same raw emotion after a break in to their house, an attempted robbery, an attempted assaults' or *ape by an ex boyfriend or husbands, etc but are alive because they had the 2nd amend to protect them. They had the right as Americans to have a firearm that protected their lives and hte lives of thier kids and spouses, and when you talk about restricting that, you are talking about punishing law abiding people for the actions of others and taking their right s away., we live a free society and we live in a world with confused and unlawful people at times. that is why crime exists and would exist without guns in our country. the only difference would be that the criminals and mentally ill would have them but you would not. a million people are year protect themselves with a firearm. thats a million people that would be *aped, killed, robbed, assaulted, maimed, without them.

As someone who grew up in that generation of school shooter drills, and you sort of just expect this thing to happen at least a few times in your life, I can’t emphasize Nick’s points enough. We’re all jaded, we all have reason to be jaded, but my hometown had a school shooting (Saugus) just a few years ago, and even though I had just left for college my brother was still in school at the time. I wasn’t even there, and unless you’ve been in this situation you have no idea how terrifying it is. People that mean the world to you, you call them, begging they’ll pick up, like your brain shuts off and time crawls. And the thing is, no matter how selfish you are, you can’t say we don’t owe it to future generations to at least TRY to make it better. As much as we want to be heartfelt and sentimental, it’s all BS until something is done and I don’t want to dismiss folks emotions but that’s the truth your compassion doesn’t prevent future death until you channel your compassion into action. You don’t have to agree with every gun regulation, but you’re telling me you can’t even think of one thing worth trying, there’s not one action that will at least better the situation??? Nick nailed it, there’s so many stupid arguments you try to convince yourself of, so if you know someone like this, or maybe it’s you yourself, ask yourself “is my doubt about gun regulation stupid.” You owe at least that much to future generations
