[about me]
Hi my name is Rosie, I'm 26 and my life is a bit confusing so i'm writing this lol.
To make it easy:
- I was born in Northern Italy, in the region of Veneto
- My whole family still lives there (mom, dad and my little sister Marty)
- I moved to Toronto, Canada, at 19 all alone to ✨find myself✨ (spoiler: it didn't work, i got more lost if anything).
So, I live half my life in Italy and half my life in Canada.
Also, my mom is from Moldova (country in Eastern Europe) and my dad is from Calabria (region in Southern Italy) and both my grandmas still live there. So you’ll occasionally see me going there as well.
I hope this clears things up a bit.. or maybe makes them more confusing lol.

I remember being quite depressed turning 19. I grew up seeing medias that depict like 18 is the peak and after that it's over lol. Turning 21 during the pandemic peak was not helping either...i've dreaded/become indifferent about bdays ever since. Lately i kind of started not to care about aging though, I guess it's all slowly sinking in that it's really a normal human experience😂

Thanks for raising the flag for us fellow people who love spending time alone and enjoy their own time more than anything else! Rosie I felt every bit that you said about birthdays! As I got older, I started dreading about them while also fancying that people would do some good special surprise for me during that occasion. I would either get nothing at all, or be "given" an agenda that I don't particularly enjoy myself/that only they do. I admire your birthday philosophy: plan yourself a birthday that *you* know you love to do!

You're doing what I do on my birthdays. I plan something myself for me. I enjoy my birthday by myself, and I do exactly what I want, even if it's nothing. I'm in my 40s and I've never had anyone plan what I thought would be a fun birthday to me. I'm glad you learned this lesson so early in life.

Happy Belated Birthday, Rosie! Everybody thinks young people “have it all” and “have their whole lives in front of them,” and in a sense it’s true. However, I’m 61 now and remember the uncertainty I felt at your age and depression, too. Be gentle with yourself and enjoy the ride as much as you can. Wonderful. I'm so glad you're spoiling yourself. I live in the UK and on the 2nd it was my 55th birthday. I treated myself to a trip to Malta. It wasn't as fancy as your hotel, but it was lovely to sit in the sun, by the sea. I too spent my birthday alone but it was perfect. If we don't have people around us who will treat us as special, we have to do that for ourselves. Your videos bring me such joy. I especially love the Moldova wedding video and watching all of your grandmother's wonderful cooking, what a blessing it is to have her in your life. I have also kind of "lost hope" for my birthday. I loved celebrating with my family, but since moving away it's so different. No one is there to plan and do things that I would want to do. Thank you for making this video! Watching this on a quiet and lonely (yet peaceful) Christmas day. Throughout most of my teen & young adult life, I would watch other people (including some of my friends) get thrown birthday parties and surprises by their friends. DUDE. This looked /absolutely amazing/. I'm just like you, I always wanted people to really give a crap about my birthday, and no one ever has. Either people didn't really care and never said anything, or they made it all about what they wanted. I also share my birthday with my mom, so she tends to overshadow my own wants and needs on this day. I am so sick of idiots grouping age by decade. 20-29 is NOT an age group, nor is 30-39. Typically it's split up like 18-24 or 25-34. It makes NO sense for someone who's say 27 to be in a different category from someone who's say 31. 27 and 31 ARE IN THE SAME AGE GROUP!

I also turned 25 this year. I've never had a birthday party with actual friends or classmates because my birthday is on the first week of August. People are not in school, and you only go back there over a month later so no one remembers it was your birthday anymore. I literally spent the whole school year watching everyone having their birthday at school... Except for me. It was really miserable. I'm still secretly hoping one day someone will put up a secret birthday party for me, but I already know it's not gonna happen.

They say 30 is a distressing age, but 25 could feel just as stressful, knowing you are approaching the third jubilee in your life. But in the way you reason, I can feel that you are adulting in the right direction, in spite of your confusion. I really like your videos and can relate to them, since I don't live in my home country and away from my family, so i always call my grandparents after I watch your grandma's cooking videos. My boyfriend said he wanted to cook dinner for me (and he is no great cook). After a while of making noise in the kitchen he said dinner didn't work out, so he would take me out to dinner at a little restaurant we went to on our first date. When we got there, my family was already waiting to celebrate with us! He had called my mom and arranged everything with her in secret. My family drove up to our town as a surprise - the whole thing was so cute :)

I always felt the same way on my Birthday... I would get outrageous expectations that someone would surprise me or do exactly what I wanted but whenever someone would ask, I would act apathetic. Looking back, I think I just wanted someone to go the extra mile without me asking for it like I wanted the validation that I was worth it. Now in my twenties, I realize that nearly all the people who do have extravagant parties are very forthright with their desires and create plans themselves, even months in advance. I'm just not. that person and I thin that's okay :p

Hey Rosi, this is Iris from Spain, i’ve been following you for a while and haven’t yet found the moment to comment any video, but i felt so represented when you said no one will ever organize me a bday party (i have literally spent SO many years preparing surprise parties for friends of mine thinking they’d do it back for me😂). HOWEVER what i wanted to transmit you is that a party doesn’t demonstrate ones friendship, i have realized they are really good friends of mine, but are not into preparing bday parties. I like that she just posts whenever. Most youtubers feel so pressured to post every single day and like any job if you work that hard. They get a burn out. It's better this way I think. Her videos are relaxing and we are reminded she has a life outside of RU-vid and that's a great thing
