He (John Denver) was one of the greatest Singer/Songwriters in music history. This Folk Rocker gave us some of the most beautiful and memorable songs ever. Two of his songs became state songs adopted by the states of West Virgina and Colorado in the United States. They are "Country Roads and Rocky Mountain High" respectively. He died in a plane crash in1997 on his experimental Glide Plane. The world lost one of the finest human beings who fought for Environmental and Wildlife causes. He also was the United States Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). He gave a concert back in 1979 for UNICEF. He wrote a song titled "Rymes and Reasons." It's known as the UNICEF song. And donated the proceeds to the organization. He was a great humanitarian.
We have been married for 54 years. Our first date was to The Mitchell Trio. John had taken the place of the founder of the group. Wonderful singer and person.
John Denver is a great singer and song writer. He sounds just as good live as he does on the studio versions of his songs. He has loads of great songs and is more of a folk singer than a country singer. He was also an environmentalist before most people knew what that meant. He died far too young. R.I.P. John.
I never heard this song before. It is so beautiful. It is meant to be a love song but it reminds me of my daughter who died in 2012. She suffered much in her life and I miss her so much.
Some of the notes in this song are identical to those used in the song "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". You can hear them in John's song @0:46 to 0:47 and then again @1:05 to 1:07 These notes repeat throughout the remainder of the song, giving both songs that special "dum dum dum" sound. (And I don't mean dumb dumb dumb). 🙂❤
