As a small town Canadian - I want to thank you BOTH for continuing to react to our AMAZING Canadian bands. Loverboy was a great 80's rock band. My faves are Loving Every Minute of it, Working for the Weekend, This Could Be the Night, and Almost Paradise. Another awesome band is Triumph. Would LOVE to see you react to their official video for Lay it On the Line. Thank you!
amen along with Streeheart (great cover of Stones' Under My Thumb), Harlequin, 54*40 (Hootie and the Blowfish covered their "I Go Blind") Guess Who, BTO, Neil YOung, Joni Mitchell, Burton Cummings and April Wine oh and RUSH of course and the Montreal bankd Mahogany Rush
Me and my bestie of 50 years cruised hundreds of miles in the 80s listening to our favorite band, Loverboy. Sadly he passed away recently so it's really hard to listen to to their songs now. Our favorite was Take Me To The Top. RIP Pete. Very sadly missed...
Thanks for reacting to Canadian bands like Loverboy. Mike Reno is one of the all-time great rock vocalists. When BJ said "I've got to fly" it made me think of another Canadian - Nelly Furtado and her first hit 'I'm Like a Bird' from the year 2000. That song deserves a reaction! (For that one be sure to watch the official video as it is outstanding).
Lot of great Canadian bands and singers at the time - would recommend rarely heard band SAGA, "On the Loose" and "Wind him up" - great melody and great vocals. Cannot go wrong with this selection.
The smile on Asia's face when Mike Reno really cut loose was the same reaction I had almost 40 years ago, when I first heard this song. 🙂 RIP Scott Smith.
Mike Reno has some of the best vocals around, this band is so under rated for the talent that makes this band great it's a simple equation you take one powerful singer and a bass roll that you can headbang to and hire a guitarist who can play heavy when need be and a drummer who gets into the madness and you've got a machine that will make hit after hit. Favorite song by this band notorious.
Yes!!!! Great one, guys!!! 😀 God how I miss the 80’s; we had great music across all the genres, and even had some new ones (trance, house, techno, Latin freestyle, new wave); best times!
Yes,...another great band & song. Gotta check out "Loving Every Minute of It" & "The Kid is Hot Tonight"...2 of my faves!! Oh and he,..the singer Mike Reno does a duet with Ann Wilson from "Heart" called "Almost Paradise"...beautiful song, another to check out!!
I went to a Loverboy show in '83 when I was 15. A lot of fun. Girls everywhere! Seen them again about 7 years ago. Man the crowd has changed. Lol. Grandma's, some with walkers. Band still jammin though. Time goes so fast.
@@joeraymorton2414 , I've seen them many times. First time was in the 80's, loved them. I saw 100's of bands starting at 12 in 1978! 4 bands for 8dollars. It was VANHALEN.
Most of the time when you venture out to "Find yourself" you find yourself back where you started. It wasn't so bad after all. The grass isn't always as tasty on the other side of the fence. Great tune.
Asia, your face, LOL!!! So many more to check out from them...Working for the Weekend, The Kid is Hot Tonight, Notorious, When It's Over, Lucky Ones, Heaven in Your Eyes (From Top Gun), Almost Paradise (original Footloose) duet with Ann Wilson from Heart.
Some great Loverboy in your day is always damn good. They have a good rock n roll library. So yes more please!!! 🎸🎙Also Canadian which is always good for the soul. ❤️
What a tremendous song by Loverboy. Definitely my favourite. Takes me back to university days. This was played at every party. Not sure if you’ve reacted to Working For The Weekend but that should be next.
This was my “speed skate” song at the roller rink in the 80’s! Felt like I was flyin around the rink! I still play this when I skate, run, workout. Gets me pumped!! 🤟🏼❤️🔥🛼🛼💪🏼
Loverboy lives where I do and I have seen them several times live at small local rock venues even though I was barely a kid when they were first popular. They are so fun live they make you dance for hours. One of the last times I saw them the lead singer Mike Reno had an oxygen tank on stage with him but still sang amazing. Highly recommend more Loverboy!
Yes, Loverboy! I played this in a Club Band "Stillwater." I transcribed the parts for the group and played the Bass & sang this Tune. Every Club Band was jamming "Working for the Weekend, When it's over, The Kid is hot tonight," Transcribed "Lady of the 80's" and jammed it with Ben & Walter, we also did "Loving's every minute of it." Jammed "Always on my Mind" with a Club Band from LA in the Hill Bar. I wrote out "This could be the Night, Hot girls in Love & Gangs in the Street." Guitar friend Joe from Rhode Island critiqued the Drafts and they were spot on. Mikey a Great Guitar player friend liked "Hot girls in Love." Thank You. Loverboy is a Party Club Band, Man, We'd Crank up the Amps and go for it. Lol
Loverboy was my favorite group from the 80’s. Seen them around 9 times in concert. When It’s Over is my favorite song of theirs. To me they are such an underrated group, from the 80’s.
Jimi Hendrix wrote in "Stone Free" one of his first early Single 45 Releases "Woman here, Woman there, Try to keep me in a Plastic Cage, But they don't Realize it's so easy to Break, Woo, but Sometimes I can feel my Heart kind of Running Hot, That's when I got to move before I get Caught. Yeah, That's why, Listen to me Baby, You can't hold me down, I don't want to be Tied Down, I gotta be Free. Oww, I said, Stone Free to do what I Please, Stone Free to Ride the Breeze, Stone Free, I can't Stay, I got to, got to, got to get away right Now. Turn me Loose Baby."
check out some ( April Wine - Rock myself to sleep - Just between you and me - Sign of the Gypsy Queen - Roller - I'm on Fire for you Baby - Could have been a Lady)
One of my favorite 80s bands and this song is one of their best. They still sound just as good when they tour all these years later. And those red leather pants.....
Man they wrote some great tunes...I saw them in 83 in Anaheim Stadium..when they played TAKE ME TO THE TOP..with those bass keyboards the hole Stadium was echoing.going from one end to the other..it was like there was 4 keyboard players playing at the same time.. I've never heard anything like that before or sence..
The sound engineering ( preamp / compression ) on that Spector NS-4 is insane. One of the most iconic bass lines in music. And such a vacuous cartoon song with hilarious lyrics.
Love Loverboy! I`ve seen them twice back in the 80s and they rock! For fun though you ought to check out Eminem and Fred Durst(Limp Bizkit) doing a song called Turn Me Loose and they use the same beat and chorus 😊 Keep On Rockin'
Please react to Streetheart. They have great songs such as "Action", "Here Comes the Night", and they do a really good cover of The Rolling Stones' song "Under My Thumb".
Great Canadian band that I as a Canadian have loved forever.First time I ever saw lasers at a concert was one of their's.Paul Dean,a great guitar player and Mike Reno 's soaring voice made this band successful. They are great live too and seen them twice live.
ah yes, 80's Vancouver BC rock. Mike Reno, the lead singer was a major heart throb back then. As Michael A indicates, they were a fun group. I'd also suggest listening to Prism: Night to Remember and Armageddon (which has a long intro) but beautifully done
Yes! one of my favorite 80s bands. This is also a favorite video. Mike Reno in his signature leather pants and headband. I will see them this summer. They have more good tracks. I don't know if you've reacted to Billy Squier, another 80s hitmaker. Enjoy the weekend!
I'm 65 yrs old, and it brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye when I see young people enjoying music that I grew up on and have been listening to for the past 40 or 50 years.
I've known Mike Reno since late 1979 early 1980s... super nice guy, as well as the rest of them.... knew Scott Smith( bassist) such a sweet guy... Scott died November 30, 2000 in San Francisco Bay... he fell overboard near the Golden Gate Bridge off of his boat by a huge wave, his remains have never been found... R.I.P. Scott ...and Matt Frenette(drummer) better tho.... seen Loverboy last time at the Wisconsin Valley Fair in 2017, lost count how many times I've seen them. They used to play alot of local pubs in Burnaby, Vancouver, etc in Canada in early 80s.... still see them in Vancouver!
I'm a bass player..in rehearsals I accidentally played a couple of notes..and realized it's this lover boy tune..and without hesitation the rest of the band started coming in..we never played it before we never Really did cause we were a metal band....fun to play on bass..great hook..
These guys were fun , seen them a few times. Once at an open air concert in Germany where it started late morning until late at night with a bunch of bands . Crazy !!!
Now you dipping into my favorite decade of music. Loverboy is deep. Working For the Weekend, The Kid Is Hot Tonite, Hot Girls in Love, Lovin Every Minute Of It(which is used to skate to at the roller rink in my little town in Oklahoma).
These guys were all over the radio when I was a kid in the late 70’s and 80’s. It’s one of the first rock bands I really remember but even at 8 years old I recognized they sounded amazing. Nobody really sounds like these guys but they are so well produced. U guys were feeling that especially at the end.
I went to one of their concerts. The opening band was the Hooters! Great band! Check them out! Too much time elapsed between the bands. I was on the floor which was packed from the stage to the back. Everyone started pushing forward and then people started pushing back. A lot of people were passing out and they picked them up and everyone helped to get them out. I was so scared but when Loverboy came out it calmed down. They were totally awesome from start to finish!
Asia, when you look directly into the camera lens, I can see how much you are really enjoying the music. You can see the story in your eyes !! Love it !!
