great series so far. the strongman training has been cool, it goes something like: 40% interesting, insightful discussion 40% reps, and 20% converting lbs to kilos or kilos to lbs.
It's really refreshing to see such a beast in his own right, humbly taking advice from so many people constantly. Shows alot of character and it's so rare these days.
Travis Tweten exactly. He is insanely strong, but still hangs on every last word of anyone who gives their advice. And he is CLEARLY listening to all of it as fast as he catches on. He definitely watches others and picks up on the little tricks as well. He is like a sponge!
Exactly! Larry is a wise man, he isn't prideful and standing on his past accolades, he constantly working hard and moving forward. Dude has all the makings both physically and mentally to be the greatest!
Travis Tweten the most successful people in the world realize that you can learn a thing or two from ANYONE you talk to. Stay humble, listen with intent (:
I love how humble Larry is. We all know he knows a lot about strength training and everything, but he doesn’t even try to prove it to anyone! He just takes advice and it’s a great example to see!
I feel like the more bigger and experienced we get with lifting, the more calm and humble we get, I've been lifting for a good 4 years now and I got more humble, I used to just care about showing off and brag and shit but then I realized there is still a lot for me to learn and the health benefits that fitness has and I just have a lot more respect. You just grow more mature as a lifter whether its bodybuilding, power lifting, calisthenics, whatever. 4 years in and I'm still learning so much more, things I wish I knew from the start.
This is what I really like about the Strongmen sport. Most of the guys competing against each oher are really supportive to each oher and some are even friends in real live. You don't usually see that in competitive sports at this level.
What I find really nice about these videos is that Larry is able to handle criticism and even show off his mistakes and failures in his own videos. He actually listens to the more experienced people and takes into account what they say.
Julia Garcia he really did put a lot of understanding into Larry’s mind. He noticed that Larry is depending on his arm strength rather than technique. It was making me cringe, but I’m happy that guy broke it all down for Larry.
Thumbs up who wants to see Larry massively progress on his flexibility/mobility and take his performance to the next level in the next, lets say, YEAR !!! EDIT: Also, shit..Martins Licis' coaching is legit
you know what I love about larry? The guy doesn't know everything and he knows it. Hes learning and isn't afraid to ask questions or even make mistakes on his videos. RESPECT.
Larry is like the little brother who is going to grow up and out do all his older brothers because of the strength he had to learn competing with strong giants
That is seriously impressive, for the first time on the tyre.Martins is very technical in his lifting, but Thors style is pure brute strength. Larry is getting the best of both training styles from them.
Larry (24) looks like a fucking tank, flips 1100lb Tires. Meanwhile I'm over here. being 24 looking like i am barely 18 and making Five Nights at Freddys Videos. At some Point in life i took a wrong turn.
Loving the in depth content you're putting out Larry. You could have just shown the main lifts but you're humble enough to include how you started, them coaching you, and then showing how you improved because of that.
These are literally my two favorite heavy lifters and they hit it off immediately. This is so dope! THANK YOU Martins for pushing Larry on his shoulder flexibility/scap retraction! He'll be lifting crazy numbers because of you.
Only one person wins that competition but there's lots of really bad ass people who compete and he's definitely one of them. His character is just as impressive as his strength. Same with larry, they wouldn't be as popular if they were just strong pieces of shit.
Props to you Larry for being the learner these past couple of months. It takes humbleness to take alot of criticism , even constructive. So props to you man 👊
Larry Learning from Everyone! Larry Has The Pros in His Corner Wanting to see him Advance in the Sport. Larry's Form Gets Better Quickly through his Hard Work!
I love how Larry is always receptive to new advice and information. As strong and powerful as he already is he is always down to learn more from these guys. So strong and humble
Some of the top guys spend 1 hour on physical therapy per day for flexibility. Tight muscles get torn, and many of the events require them to lock out elbows/knees, so strongman and flexibility does go together. If you wanna be any good atleast.
meehyz78 u sound like a moron bro ur literally just using stereotypes and okay look at alot of American football lineman 300+ lbs but fast flexible and athletic as all hell
Awesome vid. Even though I don't watch Larry at all or Martins for that matter. It was really cool for Larry to show his weaknesses in events he's not used to. Dude is very patient, and Martins is super nice.
Thanks for posting this. I am about to have a 420lb tire at the house. This is helping me understand the mechanics of flipping. I have flipped 200lb tires before but never anything larger. Good Job at your first contest.
Our father, who lifts in heaven, Hallowed be thy gain, Thy swoll be come, Arms will be done, On earth, as it lifts in heaven Give us this day our daily pump And forgive us our rest days As we have also forgiven our spotters And lead us not into CrossFit But deliver us from leg day Amen
Hells yeah! Keep it up larry, great work so far in strongman! I've just been watching larry and jujimufu exclusively for like a week now. Would love to see more collab stuff with you two ;)
@Larry: Please listen to Martins' advice on the overhead press, because in my opinion his advice on pressing overhead is good. Lock the weight out over your head, shrug up, hold it there. Ideally, you can hold the bar in the clean position too, not hold it in your hands with the bar sort of floating. BTW, I'm just a recreational lifter :) I got this advice from Bill Starr.
