Hi Rhi! I love your videos so much, I don't have anyone to talk horses with or learn with so I feel like you are my friend and have taught me so much! Bonus points because Woody is so darn cute! Thanks for what you do!
Ah Kait what a lovely message ! High five for horse friends. Honestly I'm learning right along with you - lucky to have a knowledgable coach. Woody sends kisses !
Just fyi you can get a replacement cover for the gopro charge port for about £10 :) makes life a bit easier! Loved getting to see the long reining - it's been something I've been wanting to learn
In addition to long lining, you could try work in hand where you are standing next to the horse's shoulder and holding both reins. Have made bit of a hash of that description but your instructor will understand. It lets you work on your dressage while staying on the ground.
Great job to you and Woody! 😍 In Belgium long lining isn't common at all, in fact I had never heard of it before watching Mirri Hackets' videos. I really want to try it but have never dared to because I felt like having to handle two lunging lines would be too much for me to handle. In your video it seems like it's only one, could you give me more details as to what you're using and where I could find one? Thanks so much! Your videos are really helpful and inspiring!
Yes of course. I use a double lunge line and got mine from Equus. I am a brand ambassador for them which means you can get a discount using the code BARD10 www.equus.co.uk/products/qhp-double-lunge-line
I really question if you should go out in the road/on the trail with not much experience long lining. It can go really wrong really quickly. I say this as someone whose done a fair bit of it.
I appreciate the thought, but I did this following several lessons with my instructor, on quiet (or indeed private) roads and with a reliable horse. It's of course always a personal judgement call - I'm confident in my choice.
