This movie brings back such good memories. My son was 10 and my daughter was almost 13. We watched so many times. Things were so different then. A white boy in this genre was unheard of in the general public. Raised my kids to love hip hop and rap. Super conflicted with modern day music with everything talking about the bag and females. I miss old school talking about the struggle, the neighborhood, and family.

In just a couple seconds B Rabbit turns the crowd against Papa Doc, he then proceeds to roast himself a couple seconds into his freestyle and at the end as well so that Papa Doc doesnt have much to say when his turn came, after that he reveals to everyone he lives playing gangster by revealing his past, the school he went to and so on.

Vanilla Ice was mentioned multiple times in these battles, I guess Eminem was getting tired of being told that prior to him, there was only Vanilla Ice doing hip hop as a white guy. But ask Eminem himself, and he'd tell you that the Beastie Boys were the first white guys in Hip Hop. Heck, Eminem's flow and use of voices in the background, comes directly from the way the Beastie Boys would say lines one after another in their songs.

Eminem is the goat ngl. The strategy was perfect because they could not use that against him and he turns the crowd at the same time. 8 mile is an all-time classic about the goat of rap. He is at the very least on Mount Rushmore. The thing about Eminem is you cannot diss him otherwise he will destroy you, everything that you need to be an all-time great as a rap artist he has, he’s extremely versatile, There’s never been a better wordsmith and he makes meanings in his song people don’t catch until years later, and his longevity of being the best in the game for basically the past 25 years. I mean he’s so great on this tracks and how quick he comes up with them like apparently kill shot was made in less than a half an hour like 20 minutes, and he is not messed with because he just murders everybody who goes after him. MGK had to switch to a different genre

They did have real beef as Em's group and all the guys he battled here were a different group, they had multiple fights break out and that guys face is jacked up because he was banging Em's girl in his studio (the guy was originally a friend of Em's who was telling him he was going to get his name out there, it was either his studio or he worked at a studio and had some pull in that area so Em busted in the room as they were fucking and whooped his ass and left. So in retaliation for that the guy got all of these guys together (the ones Em is battling) and they all showed up outside his mom's trailer and all 6 of them jumped Em in front of his daughter right before this rap battle event.

It’s funny because how many black men have had to struggle to get airplay on MTV in those early years of music videos. Black music was hardly ever played except for late night when the largest audiences were asleep. It took a white man inDAVID BOWIE who used black musicians and singers regularly. He came on MTV and called them out for not playing their music or videos. It helped bring the world all this beautiful expression of art.
