Busta Rhymes was apart of a group called Leaders Of The New School with the other 2 guys on the song Dinco D and Charlie Brown. and both leader and tribe was part of a bigger collective called Native Tongues (Tribe Called Quest, Leaders Of The New School, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers. Queen Latifah, Monie Love, Black Sheep, Fu Shnickens, Chi Ali, Dj Red Alert) TRUST ME it gets DEEP around those parts. lol
Yo I’m just getting into old school hip hop after knowing tribe for a few years. I’ve heard of LOTNS and De La Soul from a few friends of mine but this just blew my mind. I’m so hype to get into those two groups
Man...you have NO IDEA what it was like hearing that for the 1st time! Summer of 1991, it hadn't dropped yet..but Dinco came down to the park BLASTIN IT....We knew then L.O.N.S had "made it" ....and we knew they was done after they performed that song on the Arsenic Hall show......and a few months later we watched them break up on YO MTV RAPS! #MEMORIES
That was a dope track when it came out. Glad you enjoyed it. You definitely have to check out more 90s hip-hop because most artists had to be lyrical or they would be looked down on by other artists. A good track to check out next would be "Redman - can't wait "
Talk about Bars, you got to do Rakim. Guess who's back, follow the leader, or Satisfaction Guaranteed. He's a MONSTER. He's known as the GOAT. He started the metaphors and all that
Lol 90s rap was full of lyricists, even in the underground. You had to have skill and your own style to stand out. Eminem or biggie didn't invent hop hop lyricism, they just added to it.
This was THE album of my childhood. I can go 10 20 30 years without listening to the low end theory and still know every line of every track....I love this entire record...."back in the days when I was a teenager, before I had status and before I had a pager"...I still remember the first time I heard that and just being mind blown. Happened again years later with the opening to Bad Religions " I want to conquer the world". I still remember both very vividly.
I explained it on IG the only Tribe members are Phife Dawg and Q-Tip aka the first and fourth verse the other guys including Busta Rhymes were from the group The Leaders of The New School.
Busta was with Leaders of the New School with Dinco D, Charlie Brown and Cut Monitor Milo (his cousin). Busta was originally called BUSTER RHYMES. A Tribe Called Quest (Fife Dawg...RIP and Q-Tip) were all a part of the same rap "family with LONS and The Jungle Brothers. LONS made two albums before they broke up and made one song together since then.
Good choice!!! If you want to know what it was like in the club in 1988, I strongly suggest you react to the Jungle Brothers’s “I’ll House You”; good entry into House Music, which was HUGE and no one is reacting to 🔥🔥🔥
LONG ISLAND IN THE HOUSE! Tribe Called Quest and Leaders of the New School(Busta) a lot of the members of both groups were from Nassau County and Queens. Tribe is still the best hip hop show I've ever seen
Great reaction. Busta, Dinco, and Charlie Brown was with the group Leaders Of The New School. QTip and Phife was with A Tribe Called Quest. The Tribe, Leaders Of The New School, De La Soul, and Jungle Brothers were tight with each other and constantly did collabs with each other in the late 80’s early 90’s. All these groups were amazing during this period….definitely try to give a listen!
Suggestions: De La Soul, Black Sheep, Digable Planets, Eric B and Rakim, Tha Pharcyde.. so much more. Noddin' and smiling all day. Peace and take care.
- the 90s was fuuuuull of bars.... Biggie was just the popular one -Yes, that is Busta Rhymes.... he was part of Leaders Of The New School which is Charlie Brown, Busta Rhymes, Dinco D and Milo (who is in the video, but only rhymes on the remix)
