Air Supply is an Australian-English soft rock duo, consisting of English-born singer-songwriter and guitarist Graham Russell and Australian lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock (who hits the high notes).. They had a succession of hits worldwide, including eight top-ten hits in the United States in the early 1980s. They formed in 1975 and have included various accompanying musicians and singers. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) inducted Air Supply into their Hall of Fame on 1 December 2013, at the annual ARIA Awards. "Lost In Love" is another gr8 hit of theirs. "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" is a classic; one of my fav movies.

Best vocals I’ve ever heard. If you don’t realize how high those notes are (because they sound so easy)…try singing along. Also…that’s Max Weinberg of the E Street Band on those drums and Rick Derringer on the guitar solo.

I saw them in concert a couple of months ago and let me tell you that they were phenomenal! They are in their early 70's and still sound great. Their voices have stayed so strong through the years. I was a little girl when they were most popular. I loved them then and still so now. ❣️

My parents had Air Supply tapes and so I learned to love them then years later we saw them at a free concert behind the local library outside. It was spectacular. This has always been my favorite along with "Sweet Dreams."

Interesting fact; This song was originally presented to Meat Loaf, but he had to turn it down, because his record company rejected it. So Jim Steinman, the writer of all Meat Loafs songs, gave it to Air Supply. The rest is history, as it hit #1 for them. On another note, Jim also wrote "Total Eclipse of the heart" by Bonnie Tyler, was the same situation.

Jim Steinman even wrote one for Barbra Streisand - Left In The Dark, which she recorded about 1983. Same kinda feel. Now THAT song is a clash of styles. But it works brilliantly.

Jim Steinman is by far the greatest songwriter ever. That's why we say it :) You should hear all of Bat out of Hell, Bat out of Hell II, Dead Ringer (all by meat loaf), Faster Than the Speed of Night (Bonnie Tyler), Bad for Good (Jim Steinman himself!), and Original Sin (Pandora's Box). Those are the albums with the most Jim Steinman influence. And Bonnie's version of this is great, but it was much later than theirs.

Check out the 1984 film "Streets of Fire" which plays out like it could have been a Jim Steinman song come to life- very melodramatic & bombastic, verging on operatic, with two great Steinman songs, "Nowhere Fast" and "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young"...in actuality, the whole soundtrack is excellent. The film stars a very young Diane Lane, also w/ Michael Pare, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan and in one of his first films, Willem Defoe as a terrifying biker dude. Lovin' your Channel!!

The chorus is also excellent, and Russell Hitchcock's voice is indeed extraordinary. He reminds me quite a lot of the USA's Steve Perry.

BRUCE !!!!! Springsteen's piano player and drummer. Max and Roy also by the way played on almost every Steinman song. Not live or in the video's but in the studio almost every song he recorded in studio. DOnt go by the vidoes they are for show. Read the liner notes. He used almost always the same studio musicians.

If no one has mentioned it, this song was written by the late Jom Steinman. He is promatily known for writing and playing piano with Meatloaf. Another song he wrote for someone else in Total Eclipse of the Heart, performed be Bonnie Tyler.

nobody (and I mean NOBODY) wrote dramatic songs like Jim Steinman. If it's a long song and it continually builds in dramatic intensity, it's almost certainly a Jim Steinman song! RIP.

You need to react "Nowhere Fast" and "Tonight is what it means to be young" from the movie Streets of Fire (1984)...Both songs was written by Jim Steinman either and was released by a fake band Fire Inc.
