Those tragic events on 9/11 made us love our fellow man and country. More American flags were sold then ever. They couldn't keep up on production. It was hard to find an American flag after that. We need to get back to the way we ALL came together that day 🙌 🙏

Alan Jackson once said about this song, “God wrote the lyrics, I just held the pen.”

I like this song because it's not overly-patriotic, we're gonna kick their ass song like Toby Keith's (which is also a great song), but more around that there was no "right way" to react. Everyone coped in a different way - sadness, fear, anger, praying, buying a gun. giving blood.

Another great song by Alan Jackson is "Remember When". The official music video is so special and the lyrics are full of emotion because they're very personal to him but recognizable to all people's lives.

He wrote the song in a short period of time, capturing the raw emotions and reflections of many individuals in the aftermath of the attacks. The song resonated deeply with listeners, as it expressed feelings of shock, sadness, unity, and hope in the face of adversity. He wrote the song in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. The inspiration for the song came from his personal reaction to the tragic events of that day, as well as the shared experiences and emotions felt by people across the nation and around the world.

I was about six months pregnant, at home. My husband had left for work. I’d just had to leave my job a month earlier for health reasons, and I was looking forward to my daughter’s arrival at the end of the year. It was a beautiful, sunny morning, and I’d actually slept well for a change. I was up, having a cup of decaf, and thinking about what I needed to do that day to get ready for the graduate class I had to attend that evening. My dad called and said to turn on the TV. I asked what channel, and he just said, “It doesn’t matter.” He was right. The first plane, of course, had already hit, but I just stood in the middle of the living room floor with the phone in my hand and stared. I watched the second plane hit live, and I wondered if we were at war, being invaded, or…? I wondered if I’d be able to have my baby in a hospital or if we’d be refugees or something-I honestly had no idea what was happening. It was horrifying. Watching the towers fall was shocking, chilling. It still makes me feel sick. I suddenly had no faith in the world I was bringing my child into. It’s part of the reason I never had another.

I was on vacation in Yellowstone National Park. There was no radio reception or cell phone reception, so we had no idea. When we stopped in at one of the little service areas in the park, people were talking - they'd heard there was a hijacking, but nothing else. We thought it was going to go about like they usually do, so we didn't really think much of it, but decided to turn on the news when we got back to the motel room that night. I went right to the washroom, and my spouse turned on the television. I just remember hearing his quiet, shocked "My God". I will never forget that tone in his voice for as long as I live.

I was at my work desk when a co-worker came in and said something has happened to the World Trade Towers. This was around 9:30ish. We had a TV in our break room. I left my desk to see what she was talking about and got in the break room just in time to see the 2nd plane hit the other tower. The only other time that I can truly say "I remember where I was" was when Patsy Cline and her Grand Ole Opry teammates were killed back in 1963.

I’ve LOVED this song since the first time he sang it. I was a freshman in college and I remember sitting with my friends (I’m tiny so I sat in laps because so many people were packed in that small classroom watching the horror unfold) so many things he says, I did! I’ll never forget that I watched the news in unhealthy hours! I did call my Momma from a pay phone at college because no one had cell service (not that we had good service on normal days out in the country.) I told her I loved her but I was staying for dance team because they wanted us scared! She of course wanted me HOME! After days of news I remember all of the sudden I love Lucy coming on. What a happy moment in a moment of terror. At the grocery store , we were all needing love and inspiration. We payed for one another’s items, prayed in the middle of the store. Awful day 9/11, but 9/12 was a day I never want to forget!!! It’s when people turned back into humans…thinking about one another. Nothing else mattered, just keeping everyone safe. That feeling was felt around the country. Alan will go down in history for many songs; but this one hits me hard! Hugs and love to you and yours! We all need to live like 9/12

The day of that horrendous event, my coworker and I were working on an airhandler in the basement of a funeral home , he received a call from his sobbing and shaken spouse explaining how she witnessed the first plane crash and as we walked out of that basement I immediately looked up at the eerie, quiet empty sky feeling so many emotions rushing over me simultaneously and then just wanting to rush home to the arms of my wife and hold on to her.

9/11 and can tell you exactly where I was that day and I'll never forget it. Listening to John Boy and Billy morning show on radio in car otw to Dr appointment with surgeon to remove my husband leg. Someone burst in live studio screaming, took a minute for everything to come to understand that 1st plane hit. I stepped into appointment asking for tv to be turned on, just in time to witness the 2nd plane hit towers. I have friends, family and love ones in NY at time my heart hurt for helplessness, but that day We all American and all were covered in same dust and bleed red. We were one people .

Shon; check out "Operation Yellow Ribbon" sometime on your own. Atlantic 🇨🇦 answered the call on that day and the days to follow. It was one hell of a rocky ride leaving on a tugboat loaded with supplies headed from New Brunswick headed to Newfoundland. People needed to be fed and housed! The Corporate Hotel i was a Sous Chef at rounded up a full load of food & linen to go within a few hours. Myself and my direct Chef de Partie were approved to go to assist. We stayed on the tug working out of it's kitchen feeding folks at the dock. SOOO MANY GREAT FOLKS STEPPED UP TO HELP OUR INCREDIBLE NEIGHBORS TO THE SOUTH. My heart still aches 😢

By the way, thank you very much for playing this. Thank you, and thank you to all those that do love our country and give us everything that we have and remember. You're not untitled to s***Go get a job and then you're entitled to your paycheck. But as far as anything else goes, you're not entitled to anything on this planet ever work for it first respect people. Take care of your elders, respect your elders. I'm not saying take care of bad people. Good grief, people in prison have a better than old-timers like me. We talk about committing a crime so that we can have free cable medical dental. 3 hot are caught and don't have to go track into the snow to get it. Personally, I don't mind tracking through the snow upward. Uh, where I'm from, it's 24 feet high but that's O k, that's what I chose and I worked my way and earned my way to get to live where I do I can't. II gotta give it to you all living around each other. I really do but to the young man on this. Reaction channel or whatever these things are called. Thank you, thank you for keeping an open mind. There's Johnny Cash, Chris Christopherson Wayland Jennings, Myrtle hagered there. The Willie Nelson and they're all called the highway man. I was on leave for recruiter duty between finishing tech school and going to my first base, was sleeping at my in-laws. Love Alan Jackson, but, what we've done 'in response' to 9/11 is awful. The Patriot Act, our fascism in other countries. I served 12 years in the USAF, and a lot of us, looking back are like, "For what? We lost friends and whatnot, for what?" Anyway, LOVE this video and your continued dive into great music with genuine reactions.

Everything in this song. We all frlt it. On the west coast as it unfolded- didnt know what to fo. Sending the kids to school? Keep them home? Cry. Certainly prayed. Going to work was hard, staying home hard, watching as the people in new york posted photos of people missing from world trade center hoping they are alive rescued somewhere. They allowed prayer in school those days- teenagers at the high school met in crowds to pray snd hold hands by the flagpole morning and anytime. On Sunday, half empty churches were packed. 9/11 was so devastating but kindness and compassion on 9/12 will never be forgotten either. Flags everywhere- there was no color, no politics, we were ALL Americans.

True Country Music.. tells a story... not a big fan of a lot of newer country because to me it's more pop than country and it upsets me.. My Pop-Pop raised me on Old Country.. I grew up with King George, Alan, Garth, Randy, Reba, Vince just so many .. but it still told a story... very few TRUE country artists to me out there now... Blake, Brad, Miranda, Carrie, and Jason I know I'm missing some.. but country music is amazing

One of only 2 songs (That I know of) written about 9/11 that don't seem like money grabs exploiting a tragedy... If you're curious.. "Take It Back" by the Barenaked Ladies is the other.
