I don't think this is over produced & has nothing to do with her record label. This is all her, using her new upgraded Neumann TLM 103 mic, which picks up every detail. The monochromatic rooms are rented at a studio in LA & she's singing to a piano backing while Michael Astar, her maternal uncle/manager, edited & produced it. I call it a masterpiece on Angelina's dime to keep her fans happy while we wait for her album to be released. Her latest release at 16, is her best work, to date, IMO. Glad you enjoyed it. They are not producing or altering her voice in any way. They are stripping it right back on purpose so her voice is front and centre. When they do that there is no hiding from anything. When artists have more things going on it just lets them hide any faults. With Angelina you hear everything. But of course we all have our own perspective on how things should be.

Friend, Angelina was introduced to the Jackson family by Omer Bhati, the protege of Michael Jackson. Omer was the first judge talking to AJ at NGT 2014 when she was 7 yo. They are friends to this day. I am very sure that AJ showed the video first to the Jacksons, so no irritations would start. Some of the family seems to be fans of AJ now, especially after "heal the world" sung by AJ as His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway asked her to, please, sing live for him and the world on national, at least California TV. Thanks for reacting to this awesome performance by the Barefoot Angel. You hear her breathing because she doesn't use filter with her mic on purpose. It is one of her trade marks to produce raw, pure, and unfiltered music with her unique and angelic voice.

I agree with the other comments. Angelina rarely, if ever has any post production or enhancements done to her voice. Reverb is about all she does. Her voice is just that rich.

Listening thru headphones, you're right. That said, most today are consuming music thru the tinny speakers on their phone or iPad, where that overproduction helps casual listeners hear all those details.

Compared to the original, Angelina's cover here has no distractions, many fewer camera views. Think of it, monochromatic sets, a single camera angle, she is not moving, no dancing, no moon-walking, certainly no glove. She is, in her sweet way, saying "Nothing really to see, just listen to the story". Her unstated message may well be...I can take on the King of Pop with voice alone, give the audience a new totally transformed thing, and cause them to hear the message for possibly the first time. Talk about setting a high bar for yourself (and on an iconic song no less)! She is bold and fearless..and always has been. not sure you gave the right comment. You said Angelina's voice is over produce, that you can listen to every breath. That to me is the opposite. When they over produce they filter everything out, including those breaths. Also, as an Angelina fan, I love having her voice in first place :)

It such a nice laid back version and it makes you gently swing along with it. Ideal for hanging out at the beach enjoying a beer and relaxing. In this re-invented version with the tempo slowed down and the music brought down to a minimum, I suddenly, after 30+ years, my attention is drawn to the story.

Her music has the least production I have heard in a while. Just her amazing voice. It is just that good you tend to think it's over produced.

Not my favorite -- I think you hit it on the head, she is trying to make a non-diva tune into a diva tune where its all about the vocal -- doesn't work for me.
