Love your Bee Gee reactions. Here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under: I know you’ve reacted to about 4 of them, so disregard those! Too Much Heaven (R&B) How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard) Staying Alive (disco) Night Fever (disco) You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco) Fanny be tender with my love (R&B) Jive Talking (R&B) Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk) Tragedy (Techno? Pop) More than a woman (Disco/R&B) Love you inside out (Funk/pop) To love somebody (R&B) Massachusetts (pop/country) Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special) Alone (pop) Love So Right (R&B) Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour) Lonely Days (pop) You Win Again (pop) Run to Me (pop) How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B) Kiss of Life (rock) Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country) Bodyguard (R&B) The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor) If you want to see them (the Bee Gees) and how they work in the studio try: (A) the making of their song "Tragedy" from 1979 (B) The making of the song "Just in Case" (C) The making of the video "This is Where I Came in" from their last cd in 2001 Some that only the avid Bee Gee fans might know that you might want to react to: My Lover’s Prayer (pop ballard) Letting Go (pop ballard) Subway (R&B) You Stepped Into My life (Funk/r&b) Children of the World (pop) Search, Find (pop or R&B) Songs written by Barry Gibb (that other artists sung), alone or with his brothers (Robin &!Maurice Gibb): If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman) Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand). In fact, Gibb wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and did 2 duets with her. And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs. Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons). In fact, Barry wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, Barry wrote every song on this CD too. The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals. Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) and yes, Barry wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals. Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees also sung background. The live 1997 from Vegas is excellent! More Than a Woman (Tavares) Love Me (Yvonne Elliman) Come on Over (Olivia Newton John) Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it. Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli) Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer) Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb A lot of Andy Gibb songs (Shadow Dancing, Everlasting Love, Love is Thicker than Water, Our Love, Don't Throw It Away; Desire;)

The woman’s name, Fanny, in this song is referring to their old housekeeper who cleaned their studio. They told her they were going to put her name in one of their songs. The boys mentioned this in an interview. Concerning their “sound” they were signed to the company the Beatles were signed to when they moved back to the UK from Australia. They were just teens. The Beatles had already made their splash in the music world. Bee Gees were younger, very much enthralled by them, partied with some of them, and Maurice was very good friends with one of them and was gifted a Beatles guitar. There is so much musical history with this group. They were and are way more than just a “disco” group.

"Wish you were here" is the song they wrote for little brother, Andy Gibb, who died just after his 30th birthday in 1988. They only rarely performed it because they all broke up when singing it. Too painful. Love these guys. At the moment my favourites are For whom the bell tolls, Blue Island, Love so right, Inside out, Nights on Broadway and To love somebody. The Bee Gee’s loved the Beatles. The brothers are from oldest, Barry, the twins Maurice & Robin, the youngest was Andy, he was like 12 yrs younger, he had a soloist career, with help from his brothers. Andy died from myocarditis, a heart infection which caused his heart to fail, his lifestyle probably contributed to his heart problems. However it was not a drug overdose! He was going to join the Bee Gee’s, he died before that could happened. The brothers were so tore up over it they couldn’t even work right away! Barry and his brothers were talented composers. Barry even wrote the title song “Grease”

Loved the reaction Paul McCartney and Quincy Jones thinks this is one of the greatest R&B song ever written. This song was never done live because of the complexity of the layers of harmonies. All three sing lead. Barry mainly sang lead for the so called "disco" era so is better known. Prior to and after that (60's and 80's onward) Robin sang many leads and Maurice also did a few. My favorite voice of the three was Robin. Often Barry and Robin sang in unison but the camera was usually on Barry for his looks. All three were great songwriters. Many of their songs were written primarily by Barry and Robin together. Maurice was the master musician who put their songs to music. Robin and Maurice were fraternal (not identical) twins. These brothers started singing since the twins were @6 and big brother @9. They wrote over 1000 songs for people like Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton, Dion Warwick, Celine Dionne, Diana Ross, Olivia Newton John, &c. The dueling falsettos @9:12 between Barry and Robin, each going higher, is amazing. The youngest brother, Andy, did NOT die of an overdose although had previously used drugs and was clean but died at 30 of a heart infection, myocarditis.

Love this song from their great album Main Course. The falsetto adlibs on this song were mostly Barry, which is one of the reasons why they never performed this song live: too many layered adlibs by especially Barry. The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. All 4 brothers are just natural musical talents. All of them dropped out of high school in their early teens and none of them could read or write music. All their compositions were created completely organically. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced). From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7niXSh7vWRI.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WH_j90fCIk4.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vfHUS5Mf00Q.html. I have been a Beegees fan since the early 70s. I was fortunate enough to see them in 1978. Maurice’s name is actually pronounced MORRIS I know a lot of people get that wrong. These brothers have been together since 1958, and they are in my opinion, the best singers and songwriters that have ever lived. I’m a little bit obsessed. I spend a lot of time on RU-vid, watching interviews and RU-vid videos of their older music. You need to listen to some of their very old stuff from the 60s like to love somebody, also holiday, and New York Mining disaster. They have written every single song they’ve ever sung. They’ve wrote over 1000 songs, including music for other artists, such as Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, Celine, Dion, Dionne Warwick, and Barbra Streisand. They only did that because after the I hate disco era where they blew up vinyl records that were considered disco. The radio stations were told not to play anymore Beegees. It was a low time in their career and very suggested we got to get out there so let’s just write music for other people, and then that finally faded away, and they started Coming out with some really good music after disco. Barry kind of gets aggravated that people consider them a disco band because that was a three-year period out of almost 60 years of singing together. Watch their documentary called Hiw deep is your love. Btw. That song was not written for brother Andy. The song they dedicated to him was Wish you were here. Great reaction ❤

One time, early 1970s, when Robin temporarily went solo, Barry and Maurice had their sister Lesley perform onstage with them. I've seen photos. But I've never found any audio recordings of those performances. Andy, sort of Barry's younger twin in looks and voice, was a solo artist. Sometimes performed with the Bee Gees but was never an official member. I've heard that he was on the verge of becoming a member (maybe so Barry could keep a closer eye on him), but it was too late. He passed away a few days beyond his 30th birthday. Here's a tribute song to Andy that they did in Vegas during a 1997 tour. Video footage, with a mixture of live and prerecorded audio. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--XKPU1MHASU.html

Maurice is the twin with the beard and Robin was the other one. Andy had his own successful career but was much younger. Barry announced Andy was going to become a BeeGees in January but he passed in March before it actually happened in 1988. There is a clip of Andy singing You should be dancing with them. How Deep Is Your Love is not written about him because it is from 1977 and Andy died in 1988, They wrote a song for him called "Whis You Were Here" and it is on their 1989 album "One". They never performed it live as it was to emotional for them. Their most covered song by other artists are "To Love Somebody" from 1967 which they wrote for Otis Redding but sadly he died before he could record and they then did themselves. It is and R&B/Soul song and you give that a try.

The youngest's name is Andy Gibb. Successful solo career, with amazing support from his older siblings..Gone too soon. Pls check out Andy's "Shadow Dancing", "I Just Want To Be Your Everything", "One More Look At The Night", "Everlasting Love" and "Our Love (Don't Throw It All Away)".

Wish You Were Here Bee Gees ~ Wish You Were Here, Lead vocal by Barry Gibb. Written a couple of weeks after Andy Gibb's death, in March 1988. This song was dedicated to him. "Wish You Were Here" from Bee Gees' studio album "One" released in April 1989 (August 1989 in the United States) 👍🏻🤩🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Beatles do a three-part harmony and so do the BeeGees, so it makes sense they remind you of each other. This is my favorite BeeGees song because of the layered harmonies. 💜💜💜

Three brothers, two of them Twins, singing together since 6 (Barry) and 4 (Robin/Maurice) years old. I know of no other group that has harmonies like the Gibb Brothers. They turned it into their signature sound. There are many very good ones, but none better.

I actually had a pen pal named Fanny back when we were both in our teens. I loved getting her letters. Eventually I stopped hearing from her. I have no idea what happened to her. I have recently tried to find her on Facebook and nothing.

This song Fanny Be Tender is one of my favorites! I think it is better than How Deep is your love! Barry, Robin & Maurice were are the Bee Gees. Andy was their younger brother who died at 30 from heart failure. (complicated from long history of drug use).

About sounding like the Beatles-- The Bee Gees spent 7 years or so of their early childhood in Manchester-- so regional accents are shared with the Fab Four, as some have brought up. Then the Brothers spent 1958-1967 in Australia before they returned to try their luck in their native UK narrowly making that British Invasion, Flower Power era. They got snapped up by NEMS, the Beatles' management company and the second in-charge guy-- Robert Stigwood-- signed them within several weeks of their landing in London to a 5-year contract! Stigwood wanted his own "Beatles" to manage and Fate obliged. The rest is history! I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy one of these, judging from your other BeeGees reactions: "Love You Inside and Out" (funky R&B) "Love So Right" "Nights on Broadway" (funky R&B)

You could react to their very first record, "New York Mining disaster 1941" which is so different from their "disco" hits. Or "Massachusetts". BTW: they had a younger brother named Andy Gibb who had his own solo career. (and the brother you keep forgetting is Robin).

Beatles are no match for the Bee Gees when it comes to harmonies…you’ll be hard pressed to find a MoTown or R&B group that can match the Bee Gees high vocal range harmonies and I’m a huge Motown and R&B fan.

The Bee Gees are so underrated by folks who don't take the time to appreciate their pure magic. These guys were so talented. I would appreciate when folks do these reaction videos that they at least go and read the biographies of the performers..

@@Zlata1313 - Yes, early on Robin ❤and Barry sang lead @50/50 and often sang lead together. Robin sang their first UK#1 and was actually considered the lead singer by many in the late 60's. He sang many leads in the 60's, early 70's and again after the disco era in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Mo ❤was more into the musicianship. Robin and Barry were the songwriters and Mo did to a lesser extent but was their musical arranger.

The lower voice is Robin. He and Barry share the lead on this one. And I know with too much heaven Barry was in the middle but on stage, Robin is always in the middle, Barry on the left and Maurice (pronounced Morris) on the right
