Realize when the bee Gees recorded Main Course it was a straight forward R&B album. They didn’t know anything about disco. Now mind you at this point disco was underground in black and gay clubs and influencing R&B artist so it’s natural. They would be influenced. Also maybe not even realizing it it was an R&B album..

The deeper voice is Barry, too. One of the reasons why they never did this song live was because all brothers layered their vocals multiple times in this recording, with the record obviously being Barry's voice, both in his lower as his falsetto register. All brothers (including Andy) could sing falsetto, but Barry had the strongest falsetto and took it to a way other level. After several years, Robin stopped using his falsetto, but you can hear the difference between his and Barry's falsetto because Robin's vibrato was much faster than Barry's. Maurice (pronounced Morris) either sang the deepest or the highest harmony parts in songs. His and Barry's voices sounded most alike, with Maurice's being a little softer and deeper overall.

That deep voice IS Barry! His falsetto is not his normal voice. That really high voice is Maurice's falsetto (pronounced Morris) and Robin. There is a version of this on RU-vid that has them doing it live where you can see which brother is singing each line.
@KnutFan
@KnutFan 10 месяцев назад
I am pretty sure that video that shows them singing this is fairly misleading. They don't really show who singing what part. It's a lip sync version or the studio version played over the live cut. It is my impression that both the high falsetto and the low is Barry.

I heard a younger girl about 30 yrs. old singing "Tiny Dancer". Her words were wrong, but I knew what it was. I asked her if she knew about reaction videos, and younger people getting to hear music they never would have, and loving it! I can't believe it. She told me that she watched a couple. Liked some, not some, and then some that they had been hearing all their lives from before they were born in their families! Awsome

I stumbled upon you guys about a week ago. I've tried to catch up but it's nearly impossible with the catalog you guys have built. I have yet to make a comment until now. I just have to say you guys are amazing. I love how eclectic your music taste is and how you truly appreciate good musicianship, especially with many of those incredible 70's bands. I love how you lose yourself in the music. I've become such a huge fan in such a short period of time. So here's one for you if you haven't already reacted to him... Nick Drake - Northern Sky. You absolutely have to hear this singer-songwriter. One of the best, most overlooked musician of his time. Please check him out if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed.

I went and listen to that song on your recommendation by Nick Drake, “Northern Sky” that came out in 1970, a long time ago! I did a bus tour of Europe in the summer of 1970 and I graduated from high school in the 1970s, I am a classic rock buff into the 60’s and 70’s music very much so, but I have never heard of Nick Drake before this. It is a nice pleasant song and also good & relaxing, but nothing outstanding, just in my opinion. ~Maybe check out some >>little known 70’s bands

@royjohnson465 In regards to Nick Drake, it's more about his entire catalog. It's very mellow and I would guess not for everyone. Great suggestions, by the way. I have heard of a few of them, but not all. I'm looking forward to checking all of them out. Thanks for the suggestions.

This is the track where Barry fully and finally realized that his falsetto was solid 100k gold and started putting it up front. This track needed some last minute bits and the producer asked if any of them could do some high falsettos and Barry stepped up. He had used it before, but sparingly. An appetizer. After Fanny…it’s a full on entree. Delicious.

I would love to see you react to some 1960s BeeGees. They had many hits then, but some that come to mind are 1) Words, 2) Massachusetts, and 3) I started a Joke. The last one features Robin's lead and is haunting. Barry did Words with Dolly Parton on his recent Greenfields album in which he did early BeeGees songs with country artists.

I love your Bee Gees reactions and have been watching since the initial hearing of "Too Much Heaven" when Jordan first discovered them and started his journey into their catalog. 4 and a half decades of writing and producing great hits is unmatched anywhere. They truly are a once-in-a-lifetime talent. I do want to point out, though, that Barry;s last name is Gibb--not Gibbs. It's the Gibb Brothers, not Gibbs Brothers. Just thought you'd want to know as such a big fan. And Barry lives in Miami on the coast of Biscayne Bay, in case you're ever headed that way. He's been known to come out and meet fans who occasionally gather at the gate of the driveway entrance which is visible from his home, assuming he's there at the time. His home is located at 5820 N Bay Road Miami Beach, FL 33140. If you don't make it down there you might try sending him a card or writing to him. You two have so much more of the Bee Gees yet to hear. Keep going! You've only just scratched the surface. You'll never run out! You should see them perform as kids! So cute, and already that talented. Anyway, thanks for all the great reactions!

I just wanted to tell you guys that I like you. You are all right in my book. As an older fan of the BeeGees I am so happy that the younger generation is now discovering the talent that these gentlemen had together and you are presenting for more to hear. After disco was fading out they had kind of a backlash of listeners and DJs on the radio stopped playing their music for quite a while. It wasn't until later in the 80s that some folks started listening again. (That downfall broke my heart.) I think that now with the internet and younger fans, their talent can be appreciated once more. The song "One" was a song that was brought out in the 80s. Their album "Still Waters" that they did in the 90s is a real treasure. Hope that you can give it a listen sometime. We enjoy the work that your doing. Thank you so much.

My favorite BeeGee’s song! Never heard it until 2010. It’s an underrated masterpiece. Love it more than “How Deep is Your Love”. They never performed this song live because Barry said it was impossible for them to recreate live all of the multiple layers of vocal overdubbing they did in the studio version.
