Oh? Did not know that was Bruce Hornsby, but thinking back, it does have his signature! Bonnie Raitt has been a long time fave of mine. This song hits me directly in the feels ~ so heartbreaking.
She has 12 Grammys and is being honored at the Kennedy Center Honors this year. If anyone among us hasn’t been touched by unrequited love, they are certainly lucky.
@@itchyandred4131one of the most lauded, respected Broadway performers in HISTORY. If John Raitt headlined a show, it was a guaranteed huge hit. My mom saw him once. It made her cry how good it was…
Bonnie isn’t just a great singer. She is also a fantastic slide guitarist. B.B. King, the blues guitar legend, once said that Bonnie was the best slide guitarist working in the business at the time. She has many hits and won a Grammy in 2023 for Song of the Year with “Just Like That”.
Blues just wasn't and still isn't played on main stream radio. She finally got more recognition with her album "nick of time" at the 1990 Grammys. Won 5 that night.➡➡ She definitely paid her dues way before then. So deserving.
@brendarunyons8559 It took a long while. You will become free of the pain. You won't forget it ; but, the pain fades. Please accept a hug from one to another. 🤗
Bonnie Raitt is a great singer, guitarist & songwriter who covers many genres such as blues, rock, folk & country. Her biggest hits are from the 70's-90's. "Something To Talk About", "Love Sneakin' Up On You", "Nick Of Time", “Have A Heart”, "I'm In The Mood" (duet with John Lee Hooker ), "Papa Come Quick" etc.
YOU FELT THAT....right? ME too....me too. Incredible reaction. BTW that is the great Bruce Hornsby on the piano there. This is one of my favorite reactions of yours. Thanks to your member that suggested this fantastic piece from a fantastic and well-respected artist.
I just watched your reaction to kd lang's Hallelujah - and now this. Wow. Two of my favorite ladies in two of my favorite performances in the same day. Wow. Hope you do more of both of them.
Bonnie was one of the backing singers for Roy Orbison for his show Roy Orbison & friends black & white nights along with Jennifer Warnes & k.d.lang also there was Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello you can find it on RU-vid it’s about an hour long a great watch x
Oh this song...I can't. Right before I left my husband in 1993, this song was playing on the radio as we drove home from a friend's house. We both started crying. To this day, I can't listen to it 😢😢😢
Bonnie Raitt is definitely one of the greats!!!! And has been one of my very favorite female singer/musician/songwriters of all times💜 This song brings back some pretty heartbreaking times when I was younger, and would listen to these sad songs while going through the pain. Now I listen to BTS and get cheered up instead😊💜
I love your reaction to this song. I have loved it since it came out. It is very powerful and she has a beautiful voice. Thank you for playing this song. I haven't heard it in a very long time.
A great song to get introduced to Bonnie and her music. After watching your reaction to KD in Vancouver & Celine in Paris and how those performances brought you to tears, this song by Bonnie does it for me. Thanks for sharing your reactions & emotions with us.
she's also one of the best slide guitar players out there. she spent many of her early years with old blues musicians like john lee hooker. check out their duet 'i'm in the mood'. a fun one is 'let's give 'em something to talk about'.
I have always loved this song so much! I've seen so many singers/artists cover this song, and they do a great job, but Bonnie has this raw emotion that nobody else can replicate. She has such a beautiful, sensitive, and vulnerable voice in this song. My favorite cover of this is the one that Teddy Swims does. Check that one out! It's really great too.
I always loved this song ❤ Home Free just released a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s song Something To Talk About it’s the first video with their new high tenor Adam Bastien.
Bonnie Rait is great, you will have a lot of enjoyment getting into her catalogue. The emotion she imparts to this song is perfection. On the flip side of this is the fun, new-love song of hers, Something To Talk About.
She really has blues at her heart and soul when it comes down to it. Check out her old live version of Love Me Like a Man. Her singing, and guitar work are too good.
I've loved Bonnie since we both were as young as she was on her first album cover. The blues & her slide took the blues back to women. "Kokomo Blues" a great example of her blue, as is her cover of Sippie Wallace's "Woman Be Wise" (Don't Advertise Your Man). Then there's her cover of Randy Newmwn's "Guilty", another "I take the blame" love song. She was a key member of the anti nukes musicians of the 70s into the 80s. And yes, her dad was John Raitt, a Broadway Star, not just a Broadway actor/singer. He played the original roll of Curly in "Oklahoma!" as well as a lead in Carousel & Showboat. No slouch. Bonnie dropped out of Vassar to play around Boston & NY. Oh, and a very srxy little redhead.
When I had my first breakup (she broke up with me; dumb reason, but hey its hard to be with your 1st forever), I did begged for 1 last time to see her and this song was actually playing in my head and I was going to play this song before we went our own way.... But, she refuse to meet me because she didn't wanna deal with me begging her to stay (I wasn't going to, because I knew nothing I did was going make her love me again, and I just wanted 1 last day with her, closure.), I learn it is too much to ask for one last day from a person who is no longer in love with you, and have not done that since.
Been a fan of hers for decades. Hadn't heard this in a while and it broke me. Maybe it was your facial expression, maybe it was more years in my life, but it really spoke to me. I just imagined the lovers regret and loss more. And I love Bruce's piano, so touching and emotional as well. T Y for sharing your reaction. Bonnie is the Queen.
This is my #1 fav song. Lyrically this song is epic in its simplicity. She also does the best version, Prince and George Michael and Adele all did it but they don’t come close to her.
Another artist to try is Emmylou Harris ~ any song from her album Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town. She's from the same era as Bonnie, Joni Mitchell, etc. She's blues-y/country and ballads. Beautiful, clear voice! Add to that, Linda Rhonstadt ~ voice like a bell! Start out with her first hit when she was with the Stone Ponies, singing Different Drum. As a 70 yr old woman from the West Coast, I have a very eclectic taste in music ~ loved the late 60s and 70s music and pick and choose enjoying much new music I hear!
Her longtime signature hit is ANGEL FROM MONTGOMERY off the Streetlights album (1974). Try NICK OF TIME , the title track from her 1989 album, also HAVE A HEART from that album. She has a fun cover of ME AND THE BOYS from her 1982 album Green Light.
I loved your reaction. Your face is very expressive. Bonnie is one of my all-time favorites. I especially love it when she plays her guitar and sings. She has so much soul and is so cool. Suggestion: Thing Called Love Official Music Video. I have subscribed.
I haven't pressed play yet here, but let me tell you , many people have tried to cover this....................Can't compare to this lady ,just not possible . JMHO ! :)
I've seen bonnie perform in tiny coffee houses and folk festivals for years back in the early 70's and followed her career for over half a century now. Check out her slide work. Love Me Like a Man is a good one for that. Then check out Just Like That, which won the grammy for best song last year.
you are in for a treat with the bonnie rabbit hole ;) this came out when my high school boyfriend broke up with me...to say it's bittersweet for me is an understatement...
Check out her albums from the 90s, especially Nick Of Time. Peak of her popularity that decade, and I think her voice was at peak then, too. At least 4 great albums from her then, including the one this song is on, Luck Of The Draw.
